Not from a movie. Watch the kid that comes on around the 35 second mark of the video. It’s just a short series of movements but the kid is liquid rubber.
Here's your dance sequence. It doesn't get any better than this.
Interesting factoid- this sequence was done in one take, without rehearsal of any sort. The bros talked out the choreography, and just did it down. Fred Astaire once told the brothers that this dance number was the greatest movie musical sequence he had ever seen, and ballet legend Mikhail Baryshnikov once called them the most amazing dancers he had ever seen in his life.
I previously shared on here on how I won some dance contests. I always thought dancing was related to sports. Light on your feet, athletic, rhythm, creativity.
Here is one that is just plain out fun due to the creator's editing skills and the talent of the old-time dancers. LOL
I love dance...we go to a lot of performances from ballet to contemporary and hip hop. To me dance is an art and a very expressive art form at that. It's the dancer expressing their idea, feeling and emotion via their body and the space it occupies. Their body is their canvas & their medium all in one and the space becomes the negative space juxtaposed with the shapes and movements of their body/bodies.
It is very different than sport...in its pure art sense there is nothing competitive about dance.
I thought the movie Black Swan was a masterpiece. Here is a description of the movie followed by one of the most sensational dance scenes I have ever witnessed. It's only about 2:30 long, so don't be afraid to watch it.
Quote:
Black Swan/Film synopsis Nina (Natalie Portman) is a ballerina whose passion for the dance rules every facet of her life. When the company's artistic director decides to replace his prima ballerina for their opening production of "Swan Lake," Nina is his first choice. She has competition in newcomer Lily (Mila Kunis) however. While Nina is perfect for the role of the White Swan, Lily personifies the Black Swan. As rivalry between the two dancers transforms into a twisted friendship, Nina's dark side begins to emerge.
For me, Misty Copeland is not only a beautiful dancer and incredible artist, but she has broken the stereotype of what a ballerina looks like and has transcended the racial barrier. She too faced racism and bias along the way, but it was one teacher who saw past the color of her skin and that she was a prodigy with immense talent, creativity and artfulness. Copeland who is now Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theatre is constantly advocating for equity within the dance world, and in particular ballet, and helping more POC break into its community. A true role model and phenomenal artist. Her book is a wonderful read. Watching her dance is beautiful, poetry & shapes in motion and she makes it all look so effortless.
I have a hunch that this isn't where the op was taking this? Next, I can see 'pole dancer fails'?
Yes, that lady was strong, no doubt, creative, fit......hey, doing what she was doing can't be easy.
My wife was taking a class in pole dancing. It requires a very strong core. Those women do some amazing things, and keep their clothes on. It's a uniquely beautiful art form.
It’s absolutely dance. Just because it’s not a traditional waltz or cha cha doesn’t make it not dance. If you watch the second Fik-Shun video closely, note how synchronized every little movement is to any inflection in the music. So much subtlety. It’s dance. It’s just a continuation of the art into modern times.
