Not to disrespect your profession, Navy, but who the hell would want to join the Armed Forces right now? We're undertaking dangerous missions that the people don't believe in...
...with that aside...Cosby is about 75% right in his speech.
You were right until you got to the 75% part. He was right more than that.

Phil, is that mission any more "dangerous" than the things Slim described with gangs and drug dealers "taking over" communities? Is it any more "dangerous" than staying in that kind of environment?

Last I checked...there weren't any IED's in the "hood"
just kidding, but not really.
Although, there is sometimes random gunfire, and gunfights. But all in all, yes, those missions are far more dangerous. Slim's comments are a generalization, and not depictive of how all black neighborhoods are.

I know that, just as the violence in Iraq is generalizations and not how every soldier's situation is.

Pdawg...I have plenty of friends who have joined the Armed Forces and have become better people because of it and this is from their mouths... I just had a 19 year old soldier being deployed to Iraq sitting behind me talking to another person and I couldn't help but overhear him speaking. He says this mission in Iraq sucks, but he is grateful that the Army is giving him an opportunity to go to school in the future. He had his stuff together moreso than most 19 year olds. I have a friend who is a Purple Heart and he was raised in the Bronx. He decided to live out here in Colorado rather than go back to NYC because he knew there would be no future back in NYC. He said it was the best move he made. He said he would of been dead alot earlier if wasn't for the military. Of course the situation in Iraq sucks, but the opportunities to advance your career in the military far outweigh the options if you have no options.

I think Donovan McNabb has got it all wrong. Its not that people dont want black people being QB's
I think right now...People dont want Rex Grossman to be a QB. If he thinks he gets torched worse than any other QB he can look no further than Rex Grossman to prove himself wrong

I think that is part of his point.... His point is that if Rex was black, he would have been gone a long time ago.... However, the part of that which is hard to reconcile is that the coach responsible for yanking Rex... is black.

Yeah, but you can't disguise the fact that the soldiers' situation is more dangerous than the average inner city kid.

interesting...
Well, its possible, but look at Vick...yea he's exciting, but people have been on the fence about his QB ability for a while, and he never got benched.
