This may be a strange topic. Dancing covers a lot of different ground.

This is a scene when the credits where going up at the end of the movie "Assassination Tango" written, directed and staring Robert Duvall.

I think it is magnificent. I would love to able to dance like this. Watch the footwork closely.

I figured I would get razed for this but I think the tango is hot as hell. I love the music and the dance.

It's ok if others are not to keen on it.

Music and dance are intertwined.

Dance is a musical interpretation.

The tango and the music fit together like hand in glove.

Probably should have titled the thread "dance scenes in movies". Or, favorite dance scenes.

Christina Ricci's bowling alley tap dance to King Crimson's "Moonchild" in the movie "Buffalo '66" is pretty interesting.

I couldn't find a video of it.

Btw - "Assassination Tango" was a pretty good movie, not as good as "The Apostle", but still good.

I have a hunch that this isn't where the op was taking this? Next, I can see 'pole dancer fails'?

Yes, that lady was strong, no doubt, creative, fit......hey, doing what she was doing can't be easy.

Not from a movie. Watch the kid that comes on around the 35 second mark of the video. It’s just a short series of movements but the kid is liquid rubber.

Then there’s this... I mean, dam son!

Here's your dance sequence.
It doesn't get any better than this.

Interesting factoid- this sequence was done in one take, without rehearsal of any sort. The bros talked out the choreography, and just did it down. Fred Astaire once told the brothers that this dance number was the greatest movie musical sequence he had ever seen, and ballet legend Mikhail Baryshnikov once called them the most amazing dancers he had ever seen in his life.

It’s all impressive, but around the 1:15 mark... insane. The dude has sick flow.

For me I like watching partners dance.

Movement together. Man and woman. Latin music is great for that.

I previously shared on here on how I won some dance contests. I always thought dancing was related to sports. Light on your feet, athletic, rhythm, creativity.

Here is one that is just plain out fun due to the creator's editing skills and the talent of the old-time dancers. LOL

I love dance...we go to a lot of performances from ballet to contemporary and hip hop. To me dance is an art and a very expressive art form at that. It's the dancer expressing their idea, feeling and emotion via their body and the space it occupies. Their body is their canvas & their medium all in one and the space becomes the negative space juxtaposed with the shapes and movements of their body/bodies.

It is very different than sport...in its pure art sense there is nothing competitive about dance.

When I watch a tango couple masculinity and femininity merge. The dance emphasizes the sexuality of man and woman.

I love the movements and how in sync the dancers are.

Love some of the dancing in the old musicals. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers, Gene Kelly amazing dancers.

Jimmy Cagney and George Raft were dancers before they became gangster stars.

If you love music; dance comes with it.

Robert Duvall is really into the tango. He is good dancer. In Tender Mercies he dances to country music.

My parents loved to dance. Especially my father. Their generation dancing was huge. It was were you went with a girl.

Funny thinking back to watching American Bandstand.

It used to be a big thing. All through high school every weekend I went to dances.

I don't know what happens today?

I thought the movie Black Swan was a masterpiece. Here is a description of the movie followed by one of the most sensational dance scenes I have ever witnessed. It's only about 2:30 long, so don't be afraid to watch it.

Quote:
Black Swan/Film synopsis
Nina (Natalie Portman) is a ballerina whose passion for the dance rules every facet of her life. When the company's artistic director decides to replace his prima ballerina for their opening production of "Swan Lake," Nina is his first choice. She has competition in newcomer Lily (Mila Kunis) however. While Nina is perfect for the role of the White Swan, Lily personifies the Black Swan. As rivalry between the two dancers transforms into a twisted friendship, Nina's dark side begins to emerge.

For me, Misty Copeland is not only a beautiful dancer and incredible artist, but she has broken the stereotype of what a ballerina looks like and has transcended the racial barrier. She too faced racism and bias along the way, but it was one teacher who saw past the color of her skin and that she was a prodigy with immense talent, creativity and artfulness. Copeland who is now Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theatre is constantly advocating for equity within the dance world, and in particular ballet, and helping more POC break into its community. A true role model and phenomenal artist. Her book is a wonderful read. Watching her dance is beautiful, poetry & shapes in motion and she makes it all look so effortless.

My wife was taking a class in pole dancing. It requires a very strong core. Those women do some amazing things, and keep their clothes on. It's a uniquely beautiful art form.

Talk about being light on your feet.

The timing and entire body movement is something. They make what is very difficult look sooo easy.

Not a bad gig for a kid that started as a Vegas street performer.

I like watching good dancers.
I'll only dance now if I'm having beers, but I used to like dancing as a kid, Saturday night fever hit when I was young

Incredible moves and body control, horrid music. Even my dogs looked at me with a WTF look on their faces when I played that.

That is what that is incredible body control and movement.

Those guys are great at that. Dance? Not sure.

I don't know if there is a definition for dance?

I think movement to music. But I don't know if that is dance.

It’s absolutely dance. Just because it’s not a traditional waltz or cha cha doesn’t make it not dance.
If you watch the second Fik-Shun video closely, note how synchronized every little movement is to any inflection in the music. So much subtlety. It’s dance. It’s just a continuation of the art into modern times.
