I still don't see this happening. We have Robinson, still.
I see us bringing in depth to replace Lamm, and maybe looking for one other player as additional depth (or just keeping Corbett active).
Then, I see us going heavy on OLine in the offseason. I do not see us mortgaging the future for a temporary fix at LT now.

Playing Chicken Little after one game doesn't sound like a smart thing to do moving forward.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Hello Washington, this is King John, how many first rounders did you want again? I just don't like Robinsons attitude.. I would love to see an alternative

Every interview I've seen with Robinson he seems down to earth, almost in a gentle giant type of way.
He had a frustration play yesterday. It happens.
Is there something else that makes you not like his attitude?
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Honestly, I don't know why the Browns are not pursuing Matt Kalil. He is better than either Hubbard or Robinson. I know he was cut by the Texans but I think that was more personal issues than his actual playing ability.
Kalil is an above average NFL tackle and would an immediate upgrade for us 6'7 315 pounds. Dorsey should have been on the phone yesterday before the game to bring this guy in.
sign him to a 1 year deal, he can't be any worse than the guys we have right now at tackle. I think he will fill in well and atleast give us a chance.

I forgot all about him...He's solid when healthy, not very good in any stretch...His biggest concerns has always been health and cap number...He should be cheaper nowadays.

Matt Kalil has never been good. He also health issues.
The answer to our offensive line issues is not to pick up bad players from other teams that also had offensive line issues. The answer is to play better and not get kicked out of games.

For the Trent Williams truthers:
We have a better chance at Joe Thomas gaining 75 pounds in a week, unretiring, and playing for us against the Jets on MNF than we do trading for Trent Williams.

I should have used purple, cause I don't want to give up one first rounder, let alone multiple.
I haven't watched the coaches film yet, but the sky isn't falling yet.
We'll adjust with a quicker passing scheme and more running if needed.

The situation in Washington reveals nothing. Management is saying nothing and Williams is not showing up or saying a thing.
He is already down $1m or more.
Our situation is getting darker. We found out the hard way in game one what can happen.
Now Hubbard is in a walking boot. Lamm is still out.
Last week McCray went in for when Hubbard went LT. He got torched.
Really we are in a tough spot. Corbett may have to play. And not at where he has been playing as backup center.
Getting Williams would be a huge help. But we have zero control in the matter.
Not sure what will happen but it may force Dorsey to consider a trade with someone like Callaway, Avery or someone else. Even just to get someones backup.
Not liking this. We play a bunch of good defenses. We can ill afford to have gaping hole at RT.

I see this as kinda like the Minkah to Pitt trade. Yeah, you gave up a bunch, but it makes sense and the trade fits needs on your team. We could be spending a first on tackle anyway... would make sense to spend it on a sure thing.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

No clue if it is a possibility but he's going to be better than any OL we take in the first round of the draft. It's a position of need. Will opportunity meet need? Doubt it but I'd be excited for f it did.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

There is a huge difference in salary, age, and injury history between Fitz and Williams.
We need our play caller and our qb to improve. That will help the OL.

A first round pick, which at this point would be the eighth pick, for a 31 year old player would be a disaster.

Just because they’re asking, doesn’t mean we’d have to give them a 1st. In fact, I wouldn’t be buyers at all right now

Some of you guys act like 31 is old. There's no reason this guy couldn't play at least 4-5 more years at a high level and since he's one of the best, his "high level" is pretty damn high. Walter Jones played LT until he was 37. Bruce Matthews played OL, including LT, until he was 40. Jackie Slater played LT until he was 41. I'm sure there's other examples of extended longevity among premier LTs.
We need an LT, and have since Joe retired. If we can fill that void for even 4 years, Trent Williams would be a steal for a 2nd round pick.

The one question I have in regards to Williams is. Is he ready to play physically? What has he been doing to be in shape to play football.
I would not trade a first. A second is fair. The reality is a second round draft pick is 50/50 as far as being good.
Williams is a proven Pro Bowl player. Yes he is 31 and has had injuries. Hell Odell had injuries. Is he ready to play?
If healthy I would give a second rounder. Then I would still invest draft picks for the OL.
If Williams could play this year and be productive for two more years; he would be worth it.

he will be 32 in July and JT retired at 33 2 years for a high 2nd round LT would not be worth it. We could get a starting LT in the 2nd for 10 years.

We could get a starting LT in the 2nd for 10 years. Or we could get another Austin Corbett. Drafting OL is always a crapshoot, especially outside of the 1st round.

j/c Here is an article that gives you the ages of several LT's and the age at which they started to decline. Everyone can draw their own conclusions. https://www.milehighreport.com/2017/2/27/14724674/age-wall-for-offensive-tackles-nfl

Your point is taken that the "age of decline" varies from player to player, but OT's tend to start declining in their early-to-mid 30s. I also stand corrected for stating that Jackie Slater played LT - I misremembered, he was a RT. But the subject of the article - Andrew Whitworth - not only received a FA contract from the Rams at his "advanced age", he anchored their OL in their run to the NFC championship last year. He is still their starting LT this year, and he'll be 38 on his next birthday (Dec 12).
If the Browns' FO feels Trent Williams still has tread on the tires, and can man our QBs' blind side for the next 3-4 years, when he'll be 34 or 35, then I feel he's well worth a 2nd round pick in the 2020 draft.

How did Corbett work out?
Second round picks are 50/50 chance of being just a starter. Not a ProBowl player.
Look it up.
Williams would have to be checked out physically. No doubt about that.
They will get at least a second for him. Review past similar deals.
I have. And like type deal all things considered a second and maybe another later pick.
Draft picks are a risk anywhere you take them.

Case by case deal. How many injuries early?
What damage has been done? Chronic?
You put the guy through a physical and review his medical history. Then make a judgement call.
Not much else you can do.

I'm betting that offer on the table is from us. Dorsey has been knocking on that door hard and isn't ashamed to let everyone know he was. Willams might be 31, but if you think he can play at a high level the next 4 years while your QB is on a rookie contract, you make that trade.

He'd be worth a first if he can still play at a high level. We need to protect Baker better and good things will happen.

The problem really isn't the pick your giving up. The issue is how much can you afford in salary cap. Right now, the Browns have to consider some players that they might hope to re-sign, like Chubb, Garrett, Schobert...
Is getting Williams right now, when we are almost out of the playoff race, worth potentially not having the cap space to resign some of our better younger players in a couple years?

The odds of getting four quality years from him is pretty slim.
Yes, there is probably like a 5% chance that he could be part of the 5% of Tackles that don't drop off at his current age and number of years in the league, but if I'm betting a draft pick on a player, I'm not betting that he will be.
I'd say that the most we could reasonably expect to get from him would be two years, maybe one.... and the biggest problem with that is that he wants a new contract. Yes, his medical stuff is the big forefront of his gripes with Washington, but in there, too, is the desire for a new contract and I just wouldn't do it, and I don't think he'd take a two year deal.

The year is over. No need to trade number 1's for a old, fat and out of shape LT which is exactly what he is right now.
His last game was last year.

I would answer "No" to your question. Getting Williams would put the team on a "this year" win mandate. While I don't rule out a great second half of the year performance, and playoff possibility, I think that can be accomplished with what we have. McCray was an upgrade from Robinson IMHO, but now we have two LTs who are at least "adequate." Cutting penalties would be an amazing cure for what ails this O.
