There are 3 teams in the West that could end up with more wins than the Central Champ, and still not get in as the Wild Card.
WOW,....
I say you give the "title" to a Divison champ, but if there are teams that have better records, they should get in instead.
Discuss,..

That defeats the purpose of divisions then. Might as well clump everyone together if you are going to go by best record.

I had that thought too; like back in the 50's,... But, no, divisions could still be useful, i.e. geographic clusters. One of these days your team will get left out when it had a better record than another "division winner." Where's the payoff for sacrifice when you're getting nothing for your effort ??

The National league central has been horrible. I mean a few weeks ago the Reds were in contention, MY REDS ACTUALLY HAD A SHOT! A few sweeps later and we're back to spolier (like beating the cubs tonight). But hey, just as long as the Cardinals dont make it I'll be happy.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

oh man im with ya on the Reds...We were 6 back! with a 3 game set against a Cards team that was only 3 back! With 6 games vs the Cubs and 3 vs the Brew...With a big run coulda had it. And prolly still been 5 games under .500.
About the winning the division but not making the playoffs. I'm not in favor. I like the divisions. You play those teams the most, theres something to be said about beating teams that you play 19 times a year. And especially in the Central playing 5 teams 19 times, is 95 games. If you can win more of those 95 than your counterparts you deserve a playoff spot. If its any other division, its still 76 games (cept the AL west, stupid Selig, even it out...hes a moron). I think winning the most out of those, plus the other squads you face, you deserve the playoffs.
Theres still a wild card spot, if you cant beat your rivals you get one chance. Thats how it should be.
"It has to start somewhere It has to start somehow What better place than here? What better time than now?"

Nope, I disagree. You play 19 games against each divisional opponent, If you don't win your division and miss the playoffs it's your fault.

I was born in Atlanta. True bred Braves fan. So it's natural to hate their guts.
