This post has similar overly-optimistic qualities of the "Gilber CB Break Out Season?" post posted way back when. Lest we forget: https://www.dawgtalkers.net/ubbthreads.php/topics/966005/1P.S. I like the optimism but unfortunately it's just not coming true.

It didn't start yet? I am shocked! Awful number of awful issues today. This is about as bad as wlooked as we race to the bottom.
What was the bizarro offense we called today? Behind the chains with two runs up the middle, pass when they know it is coming badly, just nothing to build the next eight or nine games on.
Clock management is crucial, right? Ours stunk today. Clueless calls through much of the game. Their DC ought to be adding FK to his Christmas card list right about now.

If we win 2 games straight it’s a miracle
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

None of you have cred! We all know the track record of the optimists on this board have always made fools out of those of us who questioned this team!!
And no, we don’t get any joy out of this situation. It’s sickening how bad this team has been and continues to be, but people who have concerns should not be ignored or dismissed, because honestly, they have been right more often than wrong.

For a team.that has one playoff season since 1999 Their has been.more wrong than right. Optimism is fine. But let's be real. Every time a new GM or HC takes over all.we hear Is how things are gonna change. How this guy is the perfect guy to steer things right. How the Browns are gonna overcome the Steelers and be kings of the North And then if you dont fall in line with that line of thinking then all of a sudden your football IQ questioned This franchise is the most overhyped franchise in recent memory. They were crowned SB contenders before a single ball was snapped

What sucks, is that we will again get beat by Pittsburgh twice, and with a back up QB again.

You do realize that one game doesn't constitute a streak, right?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What if we look at it as putting together 4 consecutive good quarters? That would be a streak.

That's an entire new level of reaching. But anything that works I'm all for. It would be a start.

I agree.....just go on a streak...a streak starts with two in a row.
Let's just get a win. Then we can talk about streaks.

The entire league is suffering from horrible officiating. It’s not just the browns.
People need to stop blaming the refs for why our team is playing like ass.
They won’t. But good try bro. Your right. We’re cursed.

I've always tried to look at things optimistically as a fan not wanting to always be the smartest thing around. Just being a fan with things. If you think that represents my knowledge of football so be it. But I know my football.
now back to being a fan.
Sorry I meant 8 games not 9...

Sorry I meant 8 games not 9... I knew what you meant but unfortunately for us these things just aren't coming true. P.S. At least OSU kicks some serious behind.

1 in a row bro ... 1 in a row ... I just left playoff pic and status, whatever. at this point, if the Browns win every remaining game, there is at least a good chance, At 10 and 6, they'd be one of 6, or 7 10-6 teams in the AFC, and Sweeping the Stillers and Ravens, plus beating the Bills yesterday, puts you ahead of at least 2 of those, so (bills and Stillers can't both get in if the Browns or Ravens do, not likely) But I have it like this, Pats 15-1 Raiders 10-6, Chiefs 10-6, or 9-7 Texans 10-6, Colts 10-6, Titans 9-7 Stillers 10-6, or 11-5, but: 9-7 if we sweep them So if the Browns win out, sweeping them, replace "stillers at 10-6 with a 9-7 but the Browns at 10-6 Ravens at 10-6, but if the Browns win out, the Browns swept them and that's a tie breaker. So what I'm trying to say is, If the Browns win " every game!" They not only take the Stillers out of the playoffs, (most likely) They not only take the Ravens out of the playoffs, (most likely),(because the Bills would take their spot also at 10-6 pending their upcoming matchup). The Browns would not only win the division, The Browns would have the number 2 seed, (most likely). Coming down to tie breakers with the Colts/Texans both 10-6, (Titans 9-7) and the Chiefs or Raiders, both 10-6 as the other divison winners apart from the Patriots. Speculate! AFC could very easily have 2 10-6 teams and 2 9-7 teams not make the playoffs.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Here's what I'm seeing:
We have to win 6 of our final 7 just to have a chance.
But, we probably have to run the table.

But, we probably have to run the table. We have to win out. We can't lose to Pittsburgh Thursday as they will then push further ahead and Baltimore are already way out in front. The one thing helping us is the AFC isn't very good and we still have 5 division games to play. If we win the next 5 the Ravens game on 12/22 is going to be ENORMOUS.

Thank you for the excellent post with 7 games left the combinations are very confusing. You have to really like are chances if we beat Pittsburgh twice and Baltimore once. Thank you for the heads up looking forward to when Njoku gets back this to me has been the biggest problem in the red zone.

But, if we did go 10-6 we would have the Division on our side, which obviously helps in comparison to 2007 when we didn't and to rely on other teams to win/lose.

If we win out we are in. Chances are that even if we win most of the games, Pittsburgh or Baltimore will most likely beat us only to go on to win the division OR we lose our last game to Cincy and screw ourselves.

If we win out - we'll be playing an extra game or four.
We'll have a 6-0 division and 9-3 AFC record. Three of our losses are to the NFC West (that's a good thing).
Pittsburgh will be a lower seed - they'll have to win every other game to match us at 10-6
Buffalo plays Denver, Dallas, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and New England... And we hold the tie-breaker against them.
The AFC south will continue to beat the crap out of each other as there are only two games separating the entire division. Only team that could hurt us there is a tie-breaker with the Titans.
It would help us if the Raiders come down to earth. The Chargers are done, too many very good teams to play, including KC twice.
Yep, win out and you're in. Lose one, still have a puncher's chance, but you'll probably need another team to land some for you as well.

Great breakdown thanks! We can still miss out even at 10-6, especially with losing the head to head vs the surging Titans, but hey, we'd still be 10-6 so let's just win! :-D

You have to really like are chances if we beat Pittsburgh twice and Baltimore once. Well yea.. because our other 4 games are Bengals (x2), Dolphins, and Arizona... that's 5-31-1 right now... I'd love to run the table but I think the odds of us sweeping Pittsburgh and Baltimore this year are slim... I'm going to root like hell every week but I see 8-8 in our future... I just hope the games down the stretch mean something for us and our opponent. We need to play in some of those games..

But we very well could drop a game to a lesser opponent like the cards or dolphins. We are that type of team
