Are the new regs as stringent as the folk at OBR make them sound. Folk are apt to exaggerate at the Cooler, but there are stories of people getting booted for "excessive standing" and "whistling."
I'm heading up in two weeks and I'm nervous. I'm an enthusiastic fan and I'd hate to have trouble when all I am is pumped for my first trip to CBS.
Thanks,

Joe - I think a lot depends on who is around you. If the area around is rowdy, you shouldn't have a problem. But if you get some families around or those that just want to sit there doing nothing, it *could* cause some problems. The stadium is much tamer than back in the 80's, so you just have to keep that in mind.

I think that's what you are looking for. Just click the link for week 3 and you can see CBS and FOX coverage.

Personally I have never been told to sit down, but our area is the pound. Some of the staff is deff on a power trip. When we walked in during the Steeler game a guy in a blue staff shirt went up to a guy who was yelling "here we go brownies, here we go" and started yelling at him. The guy was trying to get people fired up and walking by the staff guy said he told him to move along. Sure the guy didn't listen but all he was doing was trying to get the fans fired up,,I mean this is still football right? A guy in the lot Sunday said he was kicked out for yelling at a woman who had told him to be quiet and a bunch of people got ejected for smoking. There not messing around but it does seem to me they are getting carried away a little. I have noticed most of the sheriffs I have talked to seem like a very uptight bunch.

337 - you are right. Some of those guys are power hungry there. I understand that they don't want the drunk and completely stupid people there, but there's a line somewhere that feels like it's been crossed...

I know what you mean. It seems to me that the staff believes every fan is a trouble maker. All the times I have chatted with the staff or police it seems like they all have a stick up their ass. I hate the drunken fools too. They do get annoying real fast, but then again the Browns promote it in a way by having a beer stand or concession stand that sells alcohol every 50 feet. CBS will never be family friendly no matter what they do. Browns games never have been. Football is a violent sport, a loud sport, unlike baseball the action is continuous and people stand and cheer loud most of the game. If you want to treat it like a baseball game and sit down, chat with your friends or on your cell then stay home. Don't go running to the guy in a blue shirt to kick someone out b/c they let slip a f bomb or were chanting "Brady Brady" so loud you couldn't hear Sally on the other end of the phone.

Good point 337 - we don't want drunks here, but please buy as much $6.50/beer as possible before getting tossed, after you purchased your $50+ ticket... If they truly don't want drunks, get rid of the beer. Problem solved. Of course that will never happen.

I see a lot of complaining like this, but have any of you ever gone to a Patriots game in Foxboro? My father-in-law has and they don't just eject single people for incidents. They eject entire sections and put them in jail. They figure out the details later.

Somebody needs to explain to them that they are misreading the Patriot Act then...

I know the woman that got booted for excessive whistling. Her and her husband are good friends with my buddys dad. We hang out together to tailgate. I didn't quiz her exactly how it went down but she was terribly upset over it. I'll ask her more about it at the baltimore game.

You mean the Pats didn't have any video tape?
I have season tix in the pound but one time I used the company tix and sat with the wine and cheese crowd in the club level. Never again. My girl friend got screamed at by some old bag for standing up and cheering a TD while I was in the restroom. She didn't tell me until after the game because she knew I would have went off on the witch and probably got the company's seats revoked!
First game this year the security had something up their butts. One was screeming at my friend when my girlfriend handed him a cig for after the game. The guy started screaming about no smoking etc. The thing wasn't lit nor was he trying to light it. He was putting it on his ear for after the game. He was warned and that he would have to leave a couple years ago too because he was "gyrating" with his girlfriend. They were dancing to the music during a TV timeout.
Its stupid.

I totally agree, we almost got arrested for cursing last year at the Bungals game.
They wanted me to leave, I asked them why, and they said a bengal fan had reported me for cursing. When I said "So what, I paid for my ticket". I almost got arrested.
Ridiculous.

All I know is I'm not coming up from NC to sit on my hands. I'll try not to get booted or arrested but if I don't lose my voice by the end of the 1st half then the FO has won. And I just can't let that happen.

I thought all the talk about the club lvl was all BS till I sat there. The vantage point is excellent though. I sat the whole game next to this 40 something blonde chick who talked to the people around her about her new boob job. Then as I was waiting in line for a beer there she was talking to more people she knew about her new boobs (they were nice BTW ) The whole game only one lady behind me was cheering out loud. Third down me and my bud Darin stood and cheered and the people around me looked at me like I was retarded. The guy behind me and to my right asked me why must I insist on standing so he couldn't see? I wanted to leave to go sit somewhere else but the tickets were free and the club level is pretty nice. Who knows if I would ever get to sit there again. Every game I always look there and always see the most empty seats.

This crazy security crap is outta hand. I feel little by little that we as fans can change this. Let us cheer for our team. I feel handcuffed. This has GOT to end. I don't promote violence, but c'mon. It's crazy that people are getting tossed for small, little stupid stuff. Speak out and let's change it.

I don't know all the details, but something tells me the staff isn't just ejecting people at CBS for cheering. Nor do I think they are doing this without giving at least a warning or two.

Just don't smoke in CBS and you should be fine, bar any fist fights you might get into, otherwise I've never had a problem there, not to say I've statred or been in any fistfights there.

If it's one of those really loud whistles, then good. Sitting in front of somebody who constantly does that is enough to give anybody a headache.

It's not ridiculous... would you yell what you yelled in a restaurant or a shopping mall or at a high school game or in a public park? If not, then why yell it at a professional football stadium? What's the difference? These are public places where a certain standard of conduct needs to be maintained so that everybody can enjoy the game... young and old alike.
And let's be honest, if you were yelling obscenities at the refs, THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU... if you were yelling it at the players, THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU... Think about it... "HE'S HOLDING REF, THROW THE FLAG, HE'S HOLDING!!"... Is essentially the same as, "HE'S [censored] HOLDING REF, THROW THE [censored] FLAG, HE'S [censored] HOLDING!!!" The obscenity serves absolutely no purpose other than to prove your own lack of self control.... and if you were yelling at another fan... then grow up.

Well said DC. Paying for your ticket doesnt free you of social graces. Maybe screaming profanities to you, BPG, is no big deal but it may be to the person sitting next to you or the guy two rows down trying to take his son to a football game.

I don't mind some swearing but I hate sitting by someone who does it constantly. It gets uncomfortable after a while.
I've never seen anyone treated unfairly by security at the stadium. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I just don't think it's as rampant as some would like us to think. Troublemakers want to think that they have been treated unfairly, I mean it couldn't be them, right?

I don't mind SOME swearing either, I guess we all draw the line at different places..... but when it's constant or when it ventures into those words which are worse than your "typical" swear words, then it crosses a line... Quote:
