Or is it the line that anti-Trumpers feed about Trumpian GOPers feeding?

At the top of both parties, they are all deplorable. It's just a matter of flavor. Both sides just drown their rot and decay with sugar coating. People take that mind numbing "medicine" and swallow it down. Choosing between chocolate-coated or candy-coated slime is the silliest argument to have, but it's the choice we continue to accept.

I don't care how much Trump inserts himself into military's business of repremanding their own, he cannot insure that this serviceman will be accepted by his piers.

The military has a written code of ethics that clearly were violated and playing politics to save yourself from the same punishment others have endured...might be frowned upon within the ranks.

Nah. Not at all. It appears I exaggerated when I said swish was one of VERY few libs I don't have on block.

It just seems like I have so many blocked because they post so much. And of the ones I do have blocked? Personal.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper fired Navy Secretary Richard Spencer Sunday over his handling of the case of a Navy SEAL who posed for a photo next to an Islamic State terrorist's corpse in Iraq, a Pentagon spokesman said Sunday.

“Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper has asked for the resignation of Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer after losing trust and confidence in him regarding his lack of candor over conversations with the White House involving the handling of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher," Department of Defense spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement Sunday.

I don't think piers have much choice. You either pull your boat alongside them or you don't. (Piers -> peers)

As far as insurance, it's ridiculous what some companies will provide coverage for if you give them enough money. (Insure -> ensure)

Now Trump is trying to destroy the institution of our Military with his BS. FBI, CIA, State Dept., DOJ, Military, Education, HUD, Energy, and EPA have all been devastated by Trump's crushing of norms and attacking career officials. He's is so obviously a Manchurian POTUS it's not even a controversy anymore; when the hell did the GOP go so far off the deep end?

This is clearly the problem. Trump would first have to understand and appreciate what the word ethics means in order to uphold it. We know that's not the case.

I was not pleased with the way that Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher’s trial was handled by the Navy. He was treated very badly but, despite this, was completely exonerated on all major charges. I then restored Eddie’s rank.

Eddie Gallagher's kids were pulled out of their house at gunpoint in the middle of the night,
He was kept in a prison with pedophiles.

The prosecutors who lost his case got awards. The president had to take them away.

He was acquitted. But then they still went after him based on the one charge that they had, and then tried to take the Trident away from him, even though he was the only one that they were taking it away from who was in the picture.

From the beginning, this was overzealous prosecutors who were not giving the benefit of the doubt to the trigger-pullers, that's what the president saw.

That is why he acted.

Trump ignores Pentagon advice and intervenes in military war crimes cases

https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/15/politics/trump-war-crimes-intervenes/index.html

Now you'll stab the military in the back to support Trump. But you've been doing that ever since he attacked McCain.

Why would a dog want to visit Trump?

The people in the Navy looking towards future political appointments when Washington swings to the other extreme rather than the entire Navy "said different". The entire Navy can't agree on anything.

Most have learned to keep their mouths shut. They came up under don't ask, don't tell.

Sadly, Trump is the commander in chief, and every member of the military swore to follow his orders ("the orders of those appointed over me").

Trump: I Stood Up Against the ‘Deep State’ to Pardon Accused War Criminals

New York Times: Leaked videos show SEALs describing Gallagher's conduct

Members of SEAL Team 7 Alpha Platoon described their platoon leader, retired Special Operations Chief Eddie Gallagher, as "toxic" and "evil," according to video recordings of the interviews obtained by The New York Times.

Gallagher's war crimes case gained national attention after President Donald Trump controversially intervened on his behalf, ignoring Pentagon leaders who had told the President such a move could damage the integrity of the military judicial system.

"The guy is freaking evil," Special Operator First Class Craig Miller said of Gallagher during his interview with Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents, the Times reported.

"You could tell he was perfectly O.K. with killing anybody that was moving," Special Operator First Class Corey Scott said of his former platoon leader, the newspaper reported.

"The guy was toxic," Special Operator First Class Joshua Vriens told investigators, the report said.

In the videos obtained by the Times, the platoon members accuse Gallagher of shooting at a 12-year-old, refer to Gallagher as a "psychopath," and tell of rumors that Gallagher had targeted civilians.

The video interviews were included in a hoard of Navy investigative materials the Times received about the prosecution of Gallagher, who was accused of war crimes. They provide rare insight into the elite force with a code of silence -- and into the men of Alpha Platoon, SEAL Team 7 who have never spoken publicly about the case against their former platoon leader. The SEALs declined to comment to the Times.

"My first reaction to seeing the videos was surprise and disgust that they would make up blatant lies about me, but I quickly realized that they were scared that the truth would come out of how cowardly they acted on deployment," Gallagher said in a statement.

"I felt sorry for them that they thought it necessary to smear my name, but they never realized what the consequences of their lies would be. As upset as I was, the videos also gave me confidence because I knew that their lies would never hold up under real questioning and the jury would see through it. Their lies and (Naval Criminal Investigative Service's) refusal to ask hard questions or corroborate their stories strengthened my resolve to go to trial and clear my name."

Timothy Parlatore, Gallagher's lawyer, said the SEALs' interviews contained falsehoods and inconsistencies that formed "a clear road map to the acquittal."

A decorated SEAL team leader, Gallagher was convicted in July of bringing discredit to the armed services after posing in a photo next to a dead ISIS fighter's body in 2017 in Iraq, which is against regulations.

He was acquitted of premeditated murder in the death of the ISIS prisoner in Iraq. That case took a turn when a key prosecution witness testified that he caused the prisoner's death, not Gallagher. Special Operator First Class Corey Scott, a SEAL medic, said that he saw Gallagher pull out his knife and stab the prisoner under his collarbone at least once.

On cross-examination, Scott told the defense that he never saw any blood after the stabbing. That's when Scott claimed he caused the prisoner's death by holding his thumb over his trachea tube until he suffocated. Scott described the killing as an act of mercy because he was concerned the boy -- a prisoner of the Iraqi forces -- would be tortured by the Iraqis.
Following the trial, Gallagher was demoted in rank -- a decision Trump reversed in a move that angered military officials and led to a review of Gallagher's status in the elite group.

Gallagher retired from the Navy on November 30 as planned.

Are you really still trying to hang Gallagher for this even after someone else admitted to the killing?

Shame!

Gallagher said a small group of SEALs "concocted" the accusations against him, arguing they do not represent the SEAL community as a whole.

"This has put a black eye on this community. I want the nation to know this is not what our community is about. This community is full of elite warriors that I have been honored and blessed to work with for the past 20 years."

"I believe they tried to frame me as a criminal from the get-go. But we knew the truth the whole time. We knew I was innocent of these charges. I overcame it by having my strong wife with me the whole time and my legal team fighting for me," he said.

My wife's cousin Lisa married John Melia, founder of the WWP, a couple years ago. Never met him, but by all accounts he's a helluva guy.

He no longer owns the project, it's been corporatized, so anything that comes out good about it should be investigated with caution. We all know what happens when you let the fox in the hen house.

Dude.... if a few Navy Seals says this guy is a murderer. He’s guilty. They let him off easy by just convicting him of posing with the body he just rendered lifeless. He’s going to end up wishing trump stayed out of this.

There are more cliques in the military than a high school sitcom. A "few guys" who are SEALS saying something doesn't mean much more than it would in the population at large. "Republicans" and "Democrats" crammed in the same unit/forum go overboard trashing each other all the time.

That's not to say I'm a Gallagher fan, but your standard of evidence is underwhelming.

Dumb enough to have his picture go viral is reason enough for other SEALS to want him out. Since he was already "outed", he made the perfect scapegoat.

Losing a scapegoat and having a light shined on the tarnish around the event probably bothered the brass more than actual guilt and innocence.

Throwing one person under the bus to grease the wheels of a (soul sucking) machine is something Browns' fans should be familiar with. Unfortunately, it frequently backfires and gums up the gears instead.

Some people may seem to "deserve" being thrown under. Gallagher may fit that description. I'm not sure the others weren't trying to scrape their portion of the blame onto him as well, though.

I guess we shouldn't consider that it looked like a slam dunk case on the murder charge. That is until they gave one of the witnesses immunity. Then that witness suddenly made the claim that he was the one who committed the murder so both men could go free.

Yeah, we should just ignore that part.

So war crimes all depend on who they are committed against? Not surprising. Just remember you support war crimes once they are committed against our troops.

If his reason had been a solid case, I wouldn't have said anything.

His reasoning was a few Seals said so, so he's guilty.

I'm guessing I've had more contact with SEAL teams and the Navy in general than he has, so I figured I'd share some perspective. I'm not sure what you're getting so bent out of shape for.

Maybe sticking to the words that are written instead of making up what you think people are saying is something you could work on.

Ignoring things is kind of one of your go to moves, it's not something I suggested, though.
