That sucked. I knew settling for field goals early was going to bite us. And it did. Dobbins injury was unfortunate. The refs kinda sucked. To have a WR fall on what could have been a TD route... causing a pick. Bummer.

I thought the refs called a clean game. SEC refs are the best.

-Have a lot of issues with the officiating. They need to be held accountable.
-Don't agree with the targeting call, -TD by OSU on a fumble by Clemson receiver. -Missed facemask on Clemson O-line -Dobbins crossed the goalie plane on the TD pass.
-The defense needs to play better, too many big plays, especially the QB run for a TD and that last drive by Clemson our D was horrible.

They need to be held accountable. That's the only way things will change. I want an explanation.

If the guy you hit for targeting is able to run 70 yards for a touchdown..
There is no reason to be pulled from the game 1 definition of targeting is lowering the crown of the helmet to initiate contact. That's exactly what Wade did.

And if the QB lowers his head what's the defensive player supposed to do?

[quote=tastybrownies]And if the QB lowers his head what's the de quote]
It does not matter if the QB lowered his head if Wade would have kept his head up. Lowering his head at the point of contact is the definition of targeting. Keep his head up and drive thru the QB and no targeting would have been called.

And if the QB lowers his head what's the defensive player supposed to do? Try to grab the flag on his skirt then run away scared. Football, much like journalism, is dead. Just make it 7-on-7 2-hand touch already. Less "head injuries" that way. Man I hope the XFL doesn't have these p*ssy rules.

the fumble return for TD non call... was the play of the game. WR took 4 steps before ball was stripped from his 2 hands. Ref right there on the spot made the right call. then call came from upstairs to over rule it. anyways. Buckeyes mistakes in this game cost them the game, Pass Interferences, running into the kicker, blow to the head. and not getting at least 1 TD instead of the field goals in the 1st half. Clemson is a good football team... really good for winning 30 games in a row now... but neither of these 2 teams is going to beat LSU in the Championship.

Tough way to lose for OSU. I thought the fumble/return should not have been overturned. OSU’s struggles in the red zone also doomed them. LSU seems to be the best team, but we’ll see
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I don't think so. As the ref announcer said, you had to watch in real time. Slow-mo can make anything look like a catch. If real time he didn't have the time to turn or make a football move. Incomplete was the correct call.

That was an atrocious call. Or rather, the call on the field was right, the overturn was atrocious.
Possession is two steps and a football move, or two steps and time to make a football move. People forget that last part. The third step qualifies as time/ability to make a football move. I just don't know how possession of a catch, while bringing the football in (arguably a football move in itself) while taking 3 and nearly 4 steps is not a catch.
The correct call would have been that the call on the field was confirmed. Or if there was some uncertainty, the call on the field stands.
Either way that should have been a Buckeyes touchdown and game changing play.
To overturn that was bizarre and I wonder if the ref even knew what constitutes a catch. We've seen this confusion over and over in both the NFL and NCAA so don't take it for granted that he did.

Great call in real-time... Overturning it? Egregious.

I didn't care for the targeting call. In the OK-LSU game there was a targeting penalty and THAT to me, is what targeting is. The call against Wade wasn't, to me, egregious enough. Still, if you tackle properly, you negate targeting calls more often than not.
The catch/non fumble is bad as well. If instead of fumbling the ball he stepped out of bounds with one foot in, would it be a catch? Yep....so it's a fumble to me.
Still, those calls aside, you have a dumb dumb roughing the kicker penalty, Spicolli (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) look-alike galloping for 60 yards and a four play drive at the end. That all totaled up is 21 poins for Clemson and 7 taken away from OSU. That's game.
Clemson made enough plays to win, OSU didn't make enough. Shame, but that's football.

What happened to indisputable evidence needed to overturn the call on the field?

Herbstreet played for the OSU. He is an OSU fan. He did not want Clemson to win.

I don't want some lame explanation of the calls AFTER the fact. That is the same dumbass thing Browns fans have gotten for YEARS from the NFL on a Monday or Tuesday when calls have been BLOWN.
What I want to know is this: How does ANYONE think a game will be officiated WITHOUT bias when those officials are from a conference with a team in the playoff? There is NO way this should EVER occur. Throw in the fact that ESPN owns the SEC and ACC network AND that the replay camera was on the Clemson sideline is a horrible look for the NCAA here.
As far as Herbstreit goes, yes, he played for Ohio State. He also has twin sons that play for Clemson. Just some perspective here.

I was certainly disappointed with the loss. What I won't do is blame the officials. The targeting call was correct. He led with the helmet causing helmet to helmet contact. The Int. call could have gone either way.
The team who played the best game won. Fields threw two int's after only throwing one the entire season. It is what it is.

Disappointing game. The refs didn't help either. I guess I'll pull for LSU in the championship game just because I'm tired of hearing about Clemson winning streak.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
