COLUMBUS -- Ohio State has suspended third-team quarterback Antonio Henton after his arrest Monday night for soliciting sex.
Henton, a redshirt freshman, completed a pass in four attempts for 20 yards and also ran for 31 yards on seven carries in the eighth-ranked Buckeyes' 58-7 win over Northwestern on Saturday.
Henton will not travel to Minnesota for Saturday's game.
"It's a great disappointment for our Buckeye football family, and we are very concerned for Antonio," said OSU coach Jim Tressel. "We want to help him utilize any available resources, including counseling, to deal with any problems and seek solutions. Antonio is keenly aware of the standard we have for ourselves, and that makes this even more disappointing.
"Antonio will not lose any academic privileges as an Ohio State student, but he will certainly be suspended indefinitely in terms of his athletic privileges. Specifically in the short term, he will not be traveling with us to Minnesota this weekend."
Columbus police arrested him at 8:30 p.m. Monday south of campus.
Henton, 20, entered a not guilty plea this morning in Franklin County Municipal Court to the misdemeanor charge. Lara Baker, chief prosecutor in the city's attorney's office, said the penalty carries a maximum six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, but generally results in a small fine.
Henton, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, is from Fort Valley, Ga. He fought for the starting quarterback job last spring but had less game experience than starter Todd Boeckman and backup Rob Schoenhoft. Henton is in the mold of last year's starter, Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith -- mobile and able to escape pressure, with a strong arm.
In the Buckeyes' 38-6 win over Youngstown State in the season opener, he threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to freshman receiver Taurian Washington.
On the season, Henton is 3-for-6 passing for 57 yards with the one touchdown and no interceptions. He is the Buckeyes' fourth-leading rusher with 41 yards on nine carries.
Ohio State officials did not return phone calls regarding Henton's status for Saturday's game at Minnesota.

Dude is a an OSU QB...he shouldn't have much of a problem with the ladies (heck, I've seen photos of what Greg Oden had down there). Idiot.
Then again, Troy Smith had his legal issues at a young age in C-bus too.

Maybe he is just socially inept... he could be the best looking heir apparent to the OSU football QB position and have hundreds of women willing to have sex with him... some guys just don't know how to approach girls... or perhaps he was out and feeling a bit... y'know, randy.... and that was his only option at the time...

100% right, has nothing to do with sex, college kids non-college kids, every kid his age is doing this....I'm sure he would have liked to NOT PAY FOR IT....but it always dosent work out like that, and sorry have you seen what 3rd string QB can get now days for free....sex wise....LOL....

Personally, I don't... but when you're 18 or 20 and you break the law, the days of being taken to your parents (except in some really small towns out there)... well, those days are gone.

The guy plead not guilty. I'm not sure but something doesn't seem right about this.
1) He's a college QB...sex should be easy to come by.
2) $20? I'm not exactly familiar with prostitution, but this seems like an awful small sum of money for services rendered lol.
I wonder if he saw a streetwalker and thought he'd give her a hard time, and ended up busted for solicitation. You know..."Hey what can I get for $20 said jokingly", but to the wrong person. /shrug
Of course Charlie Sheen and Hugh Grant both got busted for hitting up hookers and I imagine they have not problem getting women. In fact both were with really hot women at the time they did it.

Something seems off. Regardless what happens, it makes OSU look bad.
I talked to a former walk-on WR at U of Miami (FL). He was on the sidelines when The OSU beat them. He said he, nor any of the players, ever had a problem. We got a laugh out of this.
Me thinks there will be more to this story.

From Cleveland.com: I thought I remembered this conversation and I found it today, an Antonio Henton quote from the preseason when another reporter asked the OSU quarterback about Michael Vick's transgressions. "It just goes along with being smart on and off the field," Henton said. "Not only on the field, you've got to be smart off the field. I feel bad for (Vick). As far as life goes, you've got to be smart with the people you hang around." That's what I'd say today, that I feel bad for Henton. It's always dangerous to claim you know a player from the limited and often stilted interactions forced on us by the small and static access we're granted to the players. But Henton always seemed a little shy, a Georgia kid farther than home than most Buckeyes - though he was a player who had some upside and a chance to play down the road. "I've got four years left," Henton said in that same August interview, talking about his feelings on being a backup. "I'm not going to be selfish or whatever. I'm still going to do whatever I need to do to get better." Compared to the list of things athletes do to get the police involved - stealing things, hitting people, driving drunk - Henton's alleged actions came without a victim, other than himself and his team. And that's no small thing, what you owe yourself and your teammates when given an opportunity like this. Henton appeared to be taking advantage of it, seeing more time in the Northwestern game than supposed No. 2 quarterback Rob Schoenhoft. If this hadn't happened, and Todd Boeckman had sprained his ankle against Minnesota, who would have entered the game for the Buckeyes? The depth chart still said Schoenhoft, but Henton was at least closing the gap. And then there's this one I saw over at barstoolsports which I almost laughed out loud: Those comments had to have been made by a judge that doesn't have any children. And has never HAD a CHILD that's had their heartbroken and come HOME upset... after the hooker he solicited turned out to be an undercover policewoman. Here's all that kid did: he goes to class. He's respectful to the MEDIA. He's respectful to the PUBLIC!...And he's a good kid, who gets horny like all kids. He's not a professional athlete ,and sometimes he has to pay $20 for an orgasm. That judge obviously doesn't have a child. Well I do. And if your child goes down the street, and someone makes fun of him, because he solicits prostitutes, or says he's a whore-chaser, and he comes home crying to his mom...then you'll understand. You want to come after someone, come after ME! Criticize ME if I don't have the common sense to ask "Are you a police officer" before we start talking the price of a ____. I'm a MAN! I'm 40!
