Boro gave up a game tying homer again.
Come on dude, we don't need any more extra inning games.

That's two blown saves in two days. One of them was turned into a loss.
Nervous now?

I'm honestly not really sure what to think about it. Borowski has just SUCKED against seattle this year (3 of his 8 blown saves are against them). For some reason, he just hasn't pitched well against the Mariners. Hopefully we can rebound from this and finish strong. We would have been a full game up on Boston with 4 to play if we win this game, so it obviously stings. Not only that but it would have pretty much guaranteed us home field in at-least the ALDS. What I kind of find ironic is that we need help from Minnesota. Hopefully the Twins can help us out. The main problem being that Minnesota won't be throwing Santana. This game tonight is SO critical, especially with Boston throwing Beckett. Naturally, we finish the season against the Royals....now if that one doesn't bring up bad memories.

I never said we couldn't compete with the Red Sox or Yankees. I never said to give up and forfeit. I ONLY said Borowski is going to hurt us in the playoffs when he is in. That is my opinion. You comments were right on.(Insert heavy heavy sarcasm). You should teach me to be so smart(insert more heavy heavy sarcasm) You are the best message board poster ever(insert even more heavy heavy sarcasm.
If you would only listen to my wisdom you would become a lot smarter, so start cracking the GM books and learn something for once. As for being the best message board poster ever...... I have to agree with you, I am not there yet, but I'm working on it

If I was Wedge or Shapiro I think I would come up with some mysterious injury that makes Borowski unavailable for the post season. Then Betancourt moves to closer. In the playoffs you could use Lewis, Perez, and Betancourt and I'm sure that is all we will need from the bullpen.
Borowski is the only thing I worry about from this team in the playoffs!

LOL, you want to come up with a fake injury so the American League leader in saves with over 40 cant play in the playoffs. Smart move.

hopefully joebo doesn't turn into byung hung kim
or maybe that's a good thing because arizona ended up winning that world series
i'm not overly worried about borowski, like someone pointed out, he just has a bad record versus seattle, and up until these 2 blown saves, he had been very good taking the mound...
but, i will say this
eric wedge will have a backup plan if joebo melts down in the playoffs, probably betancourt, and for closing games late in series', you can use sabathia...
i think it is important that sometime in these next four that you get joe back on the mound, and let him go into the playoffs on a good note.

It is September 27th.
Borowski has 2 blown saves for the month of September. Those 2 saves came against Seattle. The runs against Seattle were also the 1st runs he's allowed this month. He has allowed one walk this month.
Overall he's had one bad outing per month.
I can live with that quite nicely.

Boston down 5-4 in the top of the 9th. Sox put runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, Gardenhire bring Nathan in and he gets the guy to pop out. Hopefully it will be a 4 out save for Joe. That move really made me respect Gardenhire even more then I already do. The Twins aren't playing for anything but they made the move just as they would if they were. Classy move. Looks like the Twins may breathe some life into C.C's Cy Young hopes. I love MLB extra innings!!! Was such a great purchase, especially with how the season has played out.

gardenhire has always been like that, he's a great manager, he seems to get the most out of very little
my only thing with him is the way the twins came out in the playoffs last year, and it frightens me that it could happen to the tribe
remember how the season ended last year, minnesota got red hot in the second half, and eventually took the division away from detroit (who basically had it all year) right before the playoffs started, i really thought minnesota was unstoppable at that point
they draw the a's in the first round, santana goes out there and the twins lose, and never bounce back, i don't even think they won a game in that series
there is so much anticipation for this tribe team, this young team...
how will they come out next wednesday or thursday? how will cc look against a team he has struggled against?
how will these young bats (sizemore, cabrera, gutierrez, garko, peralta) look in their first playoff action?
even hafner and martinez, who have been here through some tough years, haven't seen any postseason time
i don't want to say i'm afraid or anything like that, but i have that nervous feeling you get before something big is going to happen, an excited-nervous
i love the way this team has pulled together though, even through their mid-season slumps, they kept it together, it got bad, but it never got too bad, i think that will pay off next week

red sox lose, they get the bases loaded, 1 out and can't come through, the tribe can jump back up to #1 in baseball with a win
i think the tribe better look out this weekend though, it's a good thing they have the division wrapped up, i expect 3 tough games out of kansas city, considering it's buddy bell's last hoorah with the royals, he's gotten those guys to play hard every game, despite being shorthanded by cheap ownership, i mean, seriously, the owners of the royals make the dolans look like george steinbrenner...

Thought I was watching Joe Borowski and not Joe Nathan. 2 walks to lead off the ninth, load the bases with only one out, nearly give me a heart attack but still pull it out! Sox lose 5-4. Golden opportunity for us to go up 1 game with 3 to play! Also, Beckett gets a loss and leaves the door WIDE open for C.C. to lock up the Cy Young!

As long as Lebron doesn't predict another Spurs win over the Cavs...I don't care. Just because he plays for the Cavs doesn't mean he has to root for the Browns and Indians. Hey, he's a Yankees fan.....we all can't be perfect.

...we're gonna need some baserunners. Lofton is on with a ground-rule double, that's a start.

...and now Shoppach with a ground-rule double that scores Lofton. Tying run at the plate (1 out).

Yeah, I was suprised to not see a discussion on this topic last night....but then again, it didn't happen last night. It was early this morning. Add that we've already clinched the division......meh, people aren't too upset. Heck, Boro's 2nd blown save in 2 days didn't get much attention either.
As long as they can get homefield advantage, regardless of who they play, I'm ok.

I'm with you, ok, no problem,....just don't want lackadaisicalness to creep in,...and getting picked off at third is BS !! Here's my deal,...we've all prettty much agreed it's more important to "set up" the staff than it is to get HFA. Well, where in the hell are we at when we can do BOTH and make a bonehead mistake like THAT ?? Grady is on my SList, at least for a day . Sorry to be selfish, we should have <BIG BROOM> swept Seattle (they had nothing to play for ) and could have left Boston in the dust.

If they give the Cy Young to Beckett, just because he has 20 wins I'm going to THROW UP. C.C. has been phenomenal all season. He has more SO's, fewer walks and 40 more innings pitched!!! C.C. ranks in the top 5 in EVERY single important pitching category.
Ranks 1st in AL in IP (241.0) Ranks 2nd in AL in W (19) Ranks 4th in AL in SO (209) Ranks 4th in AL in WHIP (1.14) Ranks 5th in AL in WPct (.720) Ranks 5th in AL in ERA (3.19)
Beckett is deserving but here's the comparison:
Ranks 1st in AL in W (20) Ranks 2nd in AL in WPct (.741) Ranks 2nd in AL in CG (4) Ranks 5th in AL in WHIP (1.14) Ranks 6th in AL in ERA (3.27) Ranks 7th in AL in SO (194)
It's such a close race but those numbers favor C.C. The innings pitched is the deciding factor IMO. Sabathia has given his team nearly 5 games MORE then Beckett has. Also, when you look at Fausto's #'s, it's just mind numbing to think we have 2 of these guys!
Ranks 1st in AL in ERA (3.06) Ranks 2nd in AL in W (19) Ranks 7th in AL in CG (2) Ranks 7th in AL in IP (215.0) Ranks 7th in AL in WPct (.704) Ranks 8th in AL in WHIP (1.21)
When you look at those numbers, it's splitting hairs.

I would contribute, that had the Tribe done a better job hitting in A LOT of CC's starts, we wouldn't have had to worry at all about how many wins Beckett has.

Both Sabathia and Carmona deserve the CY over Beckett when you consider a stat called "Run Support Per 9 Innings Pitched":
Beckett .... 6.59 Sabathia ... 5.64 Carmona ... 4.63
Also in Quality Starts (as of September 17):
Beckett .... 19 Sabathia ... 23 Carmona ... 24
Unfortunately, Carmona and Sabathia will most likely split the local media votes, and probably fall short because of it.

i'd like to see cc get the cy young, but i don't think he's going to get it...
i mean, come on, boston, east coast, beckett has more wins, he'll get it...
but hey, if cc doesn't care, we shouldn't, it's not what we want... it's not what they have worked all year for...
