When your heroes quit admitting they don't plan to hold a fair trial, let her know.

Quote:
When President Donald Trump's Senate trial begins after his likely impeachment, the senators who will decide whether or not to remove the president from office will take a straightforward oath: “I solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be,) that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of [Donald Trump], now pending, I will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws: So help me God.”

“I'm not an impartial juror,” McConnell said. “This is a political process. There is not anything judicial about it. Impeachment is a political decision . . . I'm not impartial about this at all.”

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Saturday that he’s made up his mind that President Trump should be acquitted, dismissed the notion that he has to be a “fair juror” and said he doesn’t see the need for a formal trial in the Senate.

It might be nice if they actually pretended they were going to keep the oath they will swear to before God.

But nah.....

Fair trial?? That is laughable after we went through in the House.

You are not getting a "fair trial", get over it.

Well now it's clear that you believe lying on an oath you take before God is just fine. Glad to know where your morals begin and end. They end with the Republican party. God would be so proud.

Says who? So nobody has the right to talk about morals? Nobody should expect members of the Republican senate not to openly admit they will be committing perjury when they take that oath?

You guys have really sunk into the depths with the whole Trump thing.

You can talk about morals all you want, but when it comes to preaching that someone has no, or bad morals, especially if it is coming from a politician, carries not one ounce of water.

Only a trolling trumpian would post pretending to hold any sort of moral ground whatsoever... Nancy is doing exactly the right thing, waiting for all the facts to come out and pressuring the corrupt GOPer Senate into a real trial of a real traitor. And opinions are not facts, your opinions don't matter here. Fact about opinions is they are like asses... and your opinions stink.

I'm not sure. A lot of them manage to at least not have three wives and cheat on all three of them. A lot of them manage not to sleep with porn stars and playboy bunnies. A lot of them don't stoop to the depths of mocking a disabled person.

I could go on but I think you get the idea. Somewhere there has to be a bottom when you guys realize what a horrible human being Trump is. Or, maybe not.

You may wish to rethink that assumption.
He's already 2/3 of the way to the floor of the Marianas Trench, and they've happily gone right there with him.

Some of them are willing to defend him no matter what he says or does. The rest cheer him because they like the way he behaves. His presidency has presented the brightest light to illuminate character that we've seen in a generation.

And now that we've seen, I won't forget. Ever.

Yep.

I think it’s time people start realizing that those who follow trump no matter what have low character themselves. It’s the only logical reason to continue to follow him, despite all the evidence.

You and some others, Clem, tend to me a lot more diplomatic than I am when it comes to seeing the positive in people.

I, however, do not. 3 years in, and people will much rather support this man over their own self described values? Then the evidence says that they support trump because they see THEMSELVES in trump. Bigoted, racist, sexist, don’t give a damn about anything else other than the stock market and GDP. Because the all mighty dollar is the ONLY thing that matters. All other issues are secondary.

I’ve come to realize that they don’t make excuses for trump. It’s never been them making excuses for trump. It’s always been that they hold the same values as trump. So they agree with what he does.

The most you’ll ever get from MAGA hatters is that trump tweets too much. That’s it. They don’t disagree with what he says, they just want him to be low key about it.

Part time christians, pick and choose which values matter and which ones are merely suggestions. Those sorts of people only believe in democracy in practice. In real life? They have ALWAYS gravitated toward authoritarianism and ultimately totalitarian control.

It’s in their nature. It’s not conservatism, it’s not liberalism.

It’s something else.

John Bolton says he is prepared to testify in Senate trial if subpoenaed

now it makes sense why Graham wants to start the trial without the articles of impeachment.

Republicans introduce resolution to change Senate rules in order to dismiss articles of impeachment

"...this has never been done before!"

Carlos Garcia

Republicans in the U.S. Senate introduced a resolution that would change the congressional rules in order to allow them to dismiss articles of impeachment that are not sent for a trial in the Senate.

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley (Mo.) defended the resolution in a statement on Monday, saying that the founders did not envision the eventuality of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refusing to send articles of impeachment to the Senate.

"The Constitution gives the Senate sole power to adjudicate articles of impeachment, not the House," Hawley said in the statement.

"If Speaker Pelosi is afraid to try her case, the articles should be dismissed for failure to prosecute and Congress should get back to doing the people's business," he added.

The resolution would allow for 25 days for the House to send articles to the Senate after an impeachment vote.

After that, a simply majority could vote to dismiss the impeachment vote "with prejudice for failure by the House of Representatives to prosecute such articles."

The ONLY people afraid about this are the GOP who refuse to call Bolton and other witnesses who will make it impossible not to impeach.

Looks like the Democrats are literally trying to hold the entire country hostage or something. What is Nancy Pelosi waiting for? Why doesn't she send the articles of impeachment over to the senate? I thought this was urgent! Is it not as urgent now? What? What? What?

Democrats are starting to bail from this even in the House. This is a major embarrassment to the party as a whole. They lack a strong leader and direction right now. rofl

This cracks me up to... We live in a world that the founding fathers would not even be able to imagine. There is NO WAY the had the foresight to plan for all the variables in drafting the constitution, this is why they allowed for constitutional conventions. It's way past the time we dust off and update this document... BUT then we would have to deal with idiots like Jim Jordan putting their paw prints on amendments.

No! It's because it's the "House's" responsibility to hold the trial>>>>>>> which they already did!
And they came up with NOTHING!

The Senates only job is to pronounce the verdict!
The Verdict on the trial, presented by the House!

All the witnesses and arguments have to be held in the House,
and the "Senate" , looks at the case, that the House has presented, and says...
Ok, here's the verdict, on what you presented!

Not the Senates fault, that the Democrat house couldn't produce a case, and such a sorry version, that they couldn't even come up with real crimes to charge either!

This is absolutely wrong.
It's the responsibility of the House to hold an inquiry.
It's the Senate's responsibility to hold the trial.

how it actually works

If you're going to debate the impeachment, you should at the very least learn the steps before opening that hole at the bottom of your face. This was covered in my high school Civics class when I was a Sophomore. It was during the run-up to Nixon's resignation.

High School Civics.
At least try to get it right.
