Everyone keeps talking about we need a 2nd receiver ......What is JJ? He has shown over the years that he is more than cpable of being there when the team needs him.

Yeah but his true spot is in the slot... we need someone who is by definition a "burner" we have 2 possession receivers playing on the wings.

I wouldn't call Braylon Edwards a possesion receiver he is an all around threat. If your an opposing defense and you don't think Braylon can make a big play you'll end up looking like the Bengals D.
However the front office was hoping that Tim Carter could be an adequate "burner" and I'm still not willing to give up on him. He had some good plays against the Raiders and I'm looking for him to get a few more looks as the year progresses. That is if he holds off Travis Wilson the self proclaimed best receiver in last years draft.

I think JJ is just fine until we do get another talented WR... and the only way I see us getting a talented WR is through free agency... It would be tight though if we could get Mario Manningham whenever he comes out ...

He cant come until next year right? After how bad Michigan is playing at the start of the year(thank goodness for notre Dame ) I doubt he stays for his senior year to make a championship run. that worked out well for Henne, Hart and Long

I will say this over and over in any WR thread until he gets picked up. Bring back Antonio Bryant! If BE gets hurt, he would make the WR corps respectable. Without him, the Browns are in big trouble if BE or JJ gets hurt. Sign him now and let him serve his suspension learning the playbook and terminology before an injury happens. If nobody gets hurt, knock on wood, and the browns sign him for next year also, they could spend the whole offseason on fixing the defense. IMO, its better to fix the WR position while there is a player capable of doing so, unlike the d-line and secondary.

I think Antonio Bryant would be a quick great fix... He's still got plenty of years to play, and he has some nice speed...

only thing though, is I don't think Savage cares for the guy. And there is no way they would want a volatile guy like AB come into contact with Brady Quinn.

With the potential of Cribbs,& Wilson you would like to think that one of those guys will develop into a legit receiver. I dont see Savage worrying too much about receivers the next 2 seasons unless we get bit by the injury bug. But hey, Brady can throw to cardboard cut-outs and win.

Once he signs with anyone, Bryant has to sit out a suspension before he can play. If you sign the guy, you want him to help now, not four games from now.

just clicking...

What is it with the Antonio Bryant fascination? Sorry, I just don't understand it.

It seems to me that we are finally putting together a mature locker room. And some guys want to add this cancer?

Does anyone really think that tradeoff is worth it?

Not to mention, he always dropped critical balls when he was here. It wasn't the drops, it was when he dropped them.

Honestly, having Winslow is like having a third WR. I like the three threats of Bryant, JJ, and Winslow lined up wide. In that lineup, we're probably top 10 receiving talent...speed, hands, route running, blocking, etc.

What I would like to see is Wilson get in the game. I understand he's not getting it done in practice, and I understand that means he may not have earned his time. But maybe as a last resort for him to turn the corner, we need to get him some game time. Maybe that we will bring the best out of him. Maybe that will help flip that switch for him. I know that's bassackwards, but I have a feeling he may do well.

Make Wilson the #3, Cribbs #4 (keep him fresh for special teams).

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Somewhere along the line,, He just hasn't proven worthy,, or you would think he'd be out there? Sooner or later,, this may get looked upon as a blown pick

I hope Carter works out well for us but I won't hold my breath! He's got speed for sure but still has to prove he can be reliable at catching the ball. I didnt' get to see the Raider game but I've heard he made a few decent plays, well that's good and it's a starting point. Now let's see if he can do it consistantly. Also, I'd love to see more looks going to Cribbs as a WR.

Yes, Manningham would be a very good WR for us, good speed, great concentration but I don't think we will be picking quite high enough to acquire his services when he comes out. Just guessing?

Why is this trhead up? I'd say we are set on receivers for a while. I think BE has already stepped up this season and will continue his great play. The main focus for later aquisitions would have to be defense, that is of course if Lewis doesn't stick around after this season. The offense is set for now.

He already served two games at the end of last season, so he only would have to sit out two more......not four.

Just for clarification purposes......

I already said in another thread relating to this issue it probably wont be fixed until the end of the season in draft, FA if they want to do somthing about it. So give Wilson, Carter, Cribbs and even our practice squad players Sanders and some other guys time to develop for the year....its not that big of a issue right now its more our QB making the WRS better than they are. Kinda like Quinn did at Notre Dame....i hate to say it but its true.

Everyone complains about the coaches taking out Winslow on certain plays....well maybe thats one of our problems. We should have Winslow in there and 2 WRs instead of 3 WR sets.....why have 3 wide recievers that are legit when we have Winslow who can be in there also. Unless you really want to spread it out with Winslow and 3 WRs and i dont know how many in the backfield if any.

Also forget drafting a WR or getting a top WR in the draft, we dont have a first round this year..unless we trade for one. I rather our defensive line get upgraded seeing how they are playing than our WR core. Our defense is accualy playing worse than our offense right now in some points maily because our Line IMO. but FA is before the draft too of course.

JJ is a fine 2nd reciever. i think the browns make him 3rd to much which doesnt work(not fast enough). so it makes our #2 look bad(when its not JJ)
