Not sure if other have noticed but everytime I visit this site the "DoubleClick" spyware cookie gets deposited on my computer. This program tracks web browser usage, don't know if it tracks keystrokes or not.
I work in the computer biz and have repeatedly removed this spyware, rebooted, only come to this site, and the program reappears!
Symptoms include loss of mouse control, screen gets highlighted, can't move or click mouse for several seconds.
Just letting you guys know...beware...their are some extremely malicious programs out there!

I have never had an issue with what your talking about. And I run spyware and antivirus active programs on my home PC, neither has ever had an issue with this site.
Sure it's not coming from somewhere else?

While anything is possible, I find it highly unlikely.... mostly because I do not use the DoubleClick networks on this site, only Google AdSense.
Yes, Google is trying to acquire DoubleClick, but that has not officially happened yet.... so the liklihood that a DoubleClick ad has been served here is pretty slim.
Furthermore, a cookie alone cannot actually do anything. It is merely a text file; it has no inherent ability to control or execute anything at all, ever. Other things can store info in it, but it itself cannot actually do anything.

FYI - if you are not running any programs to find this stuff, you'll never know you have it.
Why on earth you are not running anything is beyond me since there's a ton of free stuff out there, but you will never know if your system is infected by just eying it up.

I just closed everything, then ran Spybot and cleaned everything. I then logged back on to this site and clicked around a bit, then re-ran Spybot - nada...must be something else running on your machine.

Course they're spying on you! Why shouldn't they? Wouldn't you want to know what you're up to if you weren't you?

I run McAfee "Online" I should have said I don't run a virus protetion all the time. They are nothing but power hogs. McAfee "Online" checks my computer via the web and not my processor. Never had a problem in the 10 plus years I have been doing web work.

??????????
If you mean McAffee and Norton you might have something there. But the free stuff which is every bit as effective is no such thing.
I know that during a scan your computer can get a little jerky. Just schedule the virus scans for a time when you are not actively using the computer.
To run without protection, even part time, is risky.
If you don't have one you need to have a firewall running ALL THE TIME.

I run either Spyroot or the Cox software for checking for spyware. Just scan for spyware and delete its when it's complete. As a test I set this site as my home page so this will be the only site I access when I invoke Internet Explorer. After scanning it's gone. This can be verified by a rescan. Then I restart IE, come to this site, and the symptoms reappear....performing another spyware scan identifies the spyware as the "DoubleClick" spyware cookie. It's there, it's real.
Just trying to give people a heads up. Sorry some found it to be such a joke.

I don't know that anyone thinks it's a joke, but there are alot of "computer" people on these boards, and none of us have ever had issues that you are mentioning, I even double checked after your first post in case something was new, and I got nothing.
So you may have other issues, but then in this last post you mention IE, which I refuse to use IE unless a website requires it, it was always nothing but troublesome. It could be an IE specific case, but to be sure, I loaded IE, surfed to dawgtalkers, logged in, viewed a few pages, then scanned, and nothing.

1st - If this is anything beyond a simple cookie, my guess is that there is some other underlying infection such as a Browser Helper Object or some form of DLL that only gets loaded when IE does and either visiting any site or visiting a site serving ads is triggering it. It likely just appears that it is this site because the problem recurs every time IE is launched and this is the homepage.
2nd - A cookie cannot cause the issues descibed. Completely impossible regardless of what coincidences you may see between the appearance of a cookie and the symptoms. It is simple: the existence of a non-executable file type such as a text file cannot cause changes in behavior of hardware or device drivers.
3rd - If all this is about is a cookie, then I simply say "Who cares?". At most, all it is doing is tracking what page you are viewing here so that it can target the ad that gets displayed. If it bugs you, set your browser to not accept cookies from the DoubleClick domain.
In short, you likely still have an unrelated issue that you need to deal with if you are still experiencing your mouse and display issues, but I'm pretty darn certain it's not from here and I *KNOW* for certain that the appearance of a cookie means nothing and is completely unrelated. I would suggest you seek the assitance of someone that is in IT or something and ask them to look at your system.... my guess would be a faulty mouse, mouse driver or dirty laser is the source of ALL your described symptoms.
