Nice post. I like the offense, and the zone blocking scheme. Expect to see a lot of inside/outside zone, and playactions/bootlegs built off of those. Think the 2014 offense but with better talent.
Remember that team was 7-4, before the wheels came off the train.
That stare + hindsight = a weird blend of comedy and pain.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
The Shanny stare says everything you need to know (given we now know about the 'get me out of here' presentation)

Shanahan is an offensive genius and Pettine was a terrible coach.
I find it funny you say he was a terrible coach knowing what this team was putting up with (Haslam, Johnny, etc).
You realize Shanny had the same record here as Pettine did right? And regardless of how good or bad you think one is - there is way on earth one could ascertain as to the what was being said at that moment without being there.

not really. Petting could have said a really bad joke. Theres a lot of reaching on this guys part for what he is trying to say happened.
Yeah, it's hard to judge based on that video alone. It had a humorous feel to it.
I think maybe we are taking knowledge of events that happened after this and applying it here. Maybe. That team had a lot of drama though. Hopefully the Browns learn from past mistakes and don't make them again keep making them. It's not just about collecting talent; it's about building a team.
It will be interesting to see how the OL gets built for this scheme. Imagine Chubb running behind THAT. My goodness.
G Rob is pretty athletic for such a big guy...maybe he can be salvaged (doubt it tho). Bitonio and Tretter should be fine in that scheme. Teller? I doubt it. Hubbard? No...just...no.
Neither of our OT's are suited for a zone blocking scheme. Hell, I don't think they're suited for any scheme.
Now there is something we can agree on.
G Rob carries that "1st Rd" stigma/benefit that keeps leading people to give him yet-another shot. I think he's a backup-quality guy...that keeps getting paid by people who think they can get him to "get it"...so he has to start.
He is athletic though...and you can't be a total slug in that scheme. Someone will pay him stupid money - hopefully that's not us.
That's the thing some don't seem to understand. If you look at the salaries LT's command, we have never paid him stupid money. Actually, according to my source......
.......... He is ranked 19th among LT's in pay. I think one also has to consider that his deal was signed last off season. There are LT's on that list playing on older contacts that will be paid much higher come their next contract.
So he's actually a marginal LT playing on a marginal contract for the position. Each year he has been here has been on a one year deal so it's obvious there has been an ongoing effort to find a logical replacement at the position.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

After he took over for the last half of the previous previous season, I do think he earned that additional year and the opportunity to carry things over in to last season. The Browns still should have looked to upgrade if at possible, but my belief is that had the team not been such an undisciplined environment, guys like G Rob and possibly even Callaway may have not gotten off track.

If our O looks like that with the running game/PA stuff we’ll be some happy folks
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
I think as much as it was a Stefanski and Kubiak offense last year in Minnesota, it was also (maybe moreso) a Mike Zimmer offense.
I'm not sure what Stefanski will do now that the choices are really his.
I'm eager to see how it plays out. There are some interesting pieces coming together on the coaching staff with experience in several different systems.
Something unique could grow from the mix. Or it could end up being a combustible mix and blow up in our faces. Or we could see something similar to the Vikings last/this season.
I'm not sure I'd consider the last option the most likely.

John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Don't agree with your statement, Kitchen's had pretty good staff, he failed due to HIS leadership style, his emphasis on THE PLAY and calling it.....he wanted to be one of the boys and it blew up in his face....like the Colts scrimmage and we will be tough....damn, what an idiot.....Please, God, give us someone who will lead and demand accountability....Kareem Hunt played hard, he just might be among the first out the door....GO Browns!!!

got to give it some time to mature with our players....hopefully we get serious with the OL.
jmnho but I see a version of Shanahan/Kubiak offense that we have seen from the 49ers. Establish the run and then play action all over the place! Its about time.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
I am excited about better offense potential. We have some big guns behind mediocre line. As we install yet another offense, let's not try to be jack of all trades. I would like to see us be very good at doing a few things really well as we grow into the rest. But I want to see some real attack schemes. FK must have flipped coins and used an ouija board to call some of what I saw, especially in red zone. Hope Stefanski can get a juggernaut going.

Hunt would be a great asset to our offense but I doubt he is in the building when training camp starts...just my $0.02
There is a chance he won't. Had to say..maybe a 30-40% chance he goes? I think it will depend on if he is willing to sign a shorter term deal...2-3 years
It also depends on what kind of a tag we place on him. If we place a 1st round tender on him, I doubt we would match the salary. We will take the pick. If it is a 2nd round tender, we might match and keep him this year. Just depends how much money is offered by another team and where the picks fall.
He is a great player, but there is associated risk with the guy. I wouldn't want to pay too much. I think I would rather have the 2nd rounder if the contract is steep..
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I understand your point there...but the contract worries me less than the roster spot and who we "don't" get in order to keep Hunt.
If he screws up and gets suspended, we don't pay him a dime from that point on. If he screws up in week 2 and we were counting on him to be a solid 53 guy, then we have to find his replacement among the scraps.
Other teams manage to get production out of RBs 2,3,4 (especially the Rats and Stoolers)...us? Not so much until week 10 last year.

Wondering where cfrs is? We need him to tell folks:
