Man I'd seriously consider Sabathia for game 4 on 3 days to have Carmona available for game 5...

It's really risky to send a guy out on 3 days rest IMO. Unless you plan to try to get out to a quick lead and hand it over to your bullpen in the 4th or 5th inning. Plus, unless it's a must win (we're down 2-1) I would rather let Byrd go and have C.C. for the deciding game 5, at home, on 4 days rest.
If it's a must win I would probably start C.C. and then tell Perez we're going to need him for long relief. Pitch C.C. 4, Perez 3 and then turn it over to Betancourt and Borowski as we normally do.
Game 1 is the most important game in a short series. If you can force a team to win 3 out of 4 to advance you can put them in a VERY desperate situation. I hope our guys are ready because the Yankee bats have been extremely hot.

Sure wish Cliff Lee and Jeremy Sowers hadn't both bombed this year; you'd like to throw more lefties at that NY lineup. Either Westbrook or Byrd is gonna have to come up big to win the series. Oh well, to be the best, you have to beat the best. First the Schwankees, then the Bosox - Go Featherheads!

Yeah, either that or C.C. and Carmona need to go 3-0.
Man, not winning those two games where we blew saves against Seattle might really come back to bite us in the butt. Being able to pitch C.C. and Carmona twice would have been such a HUGE advantage.
As for Jake, he's pitched very well against NY throughout his career. His style has given the Yankees hitters a lot of problems, which should bode well for Fausto (who has thrown pretty well against NY). The Yankees feed off of guys like Byrd but struggle against ground ball pitchers. If Fausto and Jake can keep the ball down, the Yankees can and will get incredibly impatient at the plate.

How is the playoff matchups determined? I thought it'd be 1vs4 and 2vs3. But if that were the case, that would put us up against LA.

Normally it would but for whatever reason MLB doesn't allow 2 teams in the same division to play each other in the divisional series? It's stupid. Why would you want two teams in the same division possibly playing in the ALCS but not the ALDS? Makes no freakin sense other then to try to get the bigger market teams (like NY and Boston) through more often.

I am SO happy that the Indians don't play the Red Sox in the first series... I'm looking for a Sox / Indians ALCS so I can be happy in knowing that one of my two teams will make it to the Series.

Dont get me wrong I love the Tribe however I dont see us beating The yankee trash. 1.) We havent beat them this year( I know what your going to say "C.C. didnt pitch in any of those games" my answer "SO".
2.)They have playoff seasoned veterans who have experienced the pressure.
3.)C.C. and Carmona have to prove they can win under these frenzied conditions.
4.) They are the Yankees.
5.) Hafner isnt Hafner.
NOW PLEASE INDIANS PROVE ME WRONG !!!!!

hafner isn't hafner? have you been watching this team lately? he's finally starting to catch fire.
the tribe should win this series on pitching alone...
short series, 2 cy young candidates, we're at home, the tribe will win...
people buy into the yankees every year, and for the past 6 years they have been dissapointed. they will be dissapointed this year. they're overrated.

Yep, I remember how many people that said the Red Sox couldn't win the ALCS against the yankees when they were down 3-0, but they did.

What I want to know is what the tiebreaker was for HFA,...I assume that the Sox won the regular season series against the Tribe,...???? Not that it matters now.
Next door neighbor is a big Yankee fan,...he is a good dude and not one of those fan "a-bombs." We're gonna bet I fly the Yankee flag on the pole in my front yard vs. he has to put Wahoo on his front door,....

there was some confusion with HFA and if it came into play or not...
and what someone told me was...
tiebreakers come into play only when both teams are going to make the playoffs, like it does with boston/cleveland, boston won the season series, therefore, they clinched HFA throughout last night, because the tribe can only tie them
now, if the phillies and mets finished tied today, there is a playoff game tomorrow, because most likely, the lesser team will not get the wild card, so a tiebreaker is decided with a 1 game playoff
now, if san diego loses today, that messes everything up, because you'll have 2 teams in one division tied, along with one team for the wildcard
and from there, i have no idea, makes me feel happy that the tribe took care of their own business...

here's what i'm hoping for...
indians win games 1 and 2 with stellar pitching performances.... low scoring typical playoff games
and then in game 3, in yankee stadium, the indians rock the absolute hell out of roger clemens, knocking him out in like the 2nd or 3rd inning, and that would be the end of the rocket (OF ALL THE DRAMATIC THINGS IVE EVA SEEN)
it would be similiar to how the detroit red wings (i know, hockey) destroyed patrick roy in game 7 of a huge playoff series, they had to pull roy because it got so bad
thursday cannot get here soon enough, when are they going to post game times?
i'm imagining the tribe will be a night game every time, with the yankees and everything

We're probably playing early so they could put the west coast teams on in prime time. I always thought the Yankees playoff games were on at 8 though...

yeah i think a big thing is that boston is in too, and we know the networks wanna find a way to get them and NY both in on primetime
what would have been nice is if boston would not have made it so we would not have this problem.
i believe game 3 is at 6:30 on sunday which potentially sets up for one of the best sports days of our year....
a) browns shock the football world early in the day b) tribe finishes the day by closing out the yanks
I heart winning
