The part of this that is very concerning to me, and should be to others as well, much of our youth thinks this woman is smart. I guess it’s part of the indoctrination process that’s
been going on for many years and she herself is an obvious victim and also dumb as a rock. I fear for their/our future!

It's the effect of how the checks and balances have been undermined that has made capitalism owned and controlled by a select few. It didn't used to be that way. Capitalism needs to be restored to the system it once was rather than the unbridled system that serves those at the very top.

The younger generation has been disenfranchised by the evolution of capitalism.

I’m by no means at the very top lol, but I’m doing better than I thought possible just a few years ago...I was fortunate enough to be able to retire last June. I think the younger generation needs to be schooled on what capitalism really means instead of the crap they’ve been fed for the last 15 years or so.

But millennials are expected to be the first generation to earn less than their parents. The price if education has skyrocketed to a point they will go into the working sector buried in debt.

I can understand from their perspective how they could feel capitalism has left them behind.

Capitalism allows for individual choice. If stuck in a dead end job, we are free to change and potentially elevate our future. It’s a choice. that doesn’t mean it will always work out, but perhaps it will

I agree with you about college costs. I have twin daughters in college. It’s a complete joke. In my opinion, and many experts confer, they would be better off learning a specialized skill at a tech school in today’s job market. They would make more money in a shorter amount of time without a college degree

Seriously though GM, when you get past the Fox News clips attacking her and listen to her express herself, she is undeniably intelligent even if a little youthful idealism or naivety shows occasionally. Her passion to help working people and care for the most vulnerable is off the charts because she is one of us. You can't fault that.

Ocasio-Cortez Appeals For Support As She Faces 12 Primary Challengers

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez officially began her reelection campaign Saturday, appealing for support as she faces 12 primary challengers.

The congresswoman spoke to a crowd of more than 100 supporters at the opening of a new election office in Queens, telling them that they need to get out the vote for the June 23 primary.

“We have some really ambitious goals,” she said, according to the New York Post. “Last election cycle, in the primary as we know, the turnout was quite low … this year, we want to multiply turnout by four times. That’s our goal. We want to secure 60,000 votes in the primary election. As part of the leftist “squad” that has sometimes dominated the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives and challenged Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Ocasio-Cortez is known nationally for her socialist policies and polarizing activities.

A former CNBC anchor is the latest challenger to file papers with the Federal Election Commission. Ocasio-Cortez came out of nowhere in 2018 to take the Democratic nomination away from a Rep. Joe Crowley, a prominent and powerful politician.

The democratic socialist has raised $5.3 million for her campaign war chest, OpenSecrets.org reported.

But Ocasio-Cortez is focused on her own reelection and has snubbed her nose at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that raises money to elect Democrats to the House and Senate. She reportedly owes $250,000 in dues to the election readiness organization.

You know I don't like cool aid, and I am not a Trump fan. I don't watch Fox, or CNN, or any National News outlet. IMO she is still as dumb as that box of rocks.

Age and stupidity has nothing to do with each other. .......trump is a perfect example.

I'm not denying that that is going on. I'm sometimes torn on AOC. She can really ruffle the establishment's feathers.

But when I hear her speak, I'm sorry... she's nowhere near as smart as she thinks she is. She sounds like a lot of people that are highly educated but not intelligent. Maybe intelligent isn't the right word. She's not smart. I also don't agree at all with her politics, but that doesn't have anything to do with it.

Arguing against the phrase "pull yourself up by your bootstrap" is the epitome of 'dense'. It's a phrase. There are many phrases that don't make sense but still have meaning behind them.


It's scary that an elected official can go out there and argue something as dumb as this and still have people in their corner.

The phrase is dumb, especially since it’s parroted by the right as some sort of war cry.

He was smart enough to live this long, and your barking up the wrong tree PS. I said long ago Trump was to stupid to get away with lying while Hillary would look you straight in the eye and lie to you while fooling many.

I don't think the phrase is dumb, but I couldn't argue you on the second point, even if I wanted to.

Politics aside.

I always took the phrase to mean that with will and determination, even the impossible is possible.

Imagine that, when the right stopped giving her near constant attention she went away. She is young and without question an ideologue. She isn't dumb but she certainly talks out of her ass far too often for someone holding office.

There is no need for her to be spouting off out of pocket the way she frequently does, but she isn't nearly as dumb as all of the snippets from the right wing media suggests. There is also something that could be said about her PR team reigning her in, if she hates Trump so much, she shouldn't adlib nonsense like he does.
