I want to see the right's reaction when she inherits Bernie's movement. This dumb girl wielding a grassroots army bigger than ANY this country has ever seen. Imagine what she will do with the ability to raise unlimited cash or to activate a million door knocking lefties or incite an internet onslaught with a single tweet...

AOC started calling Bernie 'Tio Bernie' (uncle Bernie) and it has caught fire in latino communities. A solid win in Nevada would put Bernie in the driver's seat for Super Tuesday.

According to trump and his “Brown Skivies”, every Latino vote is illegal anyways.

Every illegal vote IS illegal. While every legal vote is legal.

Are you afraid that all the illegal votes won't be counted?

Former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera becomes latest primary challenger to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez

William Cummings
USA TODAY

WASHINGTON – Former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera added her name Tuesday to the list of candidates hoping to deny Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a second term.

Caruso-Cabrera, who worked for the financial news network for more than 20 years, is challenging Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary June 23 for New York's 14th District. She filed her candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, becoming Ocasio-Cortez's fifth Democratic challenger and 12th overall to file with the FEC.

"I am the daughter and granddaughter of working-class Italian and Cuban immigrants," Caruso-Cabrera told CNBC in a statement. "I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful career, and I want everybody to have the opportunity that I’ve had. That’s why I’m running.

CNBC said Caruso-Cabrera will take a leave of absence from the contributor role she has held at the network since she left in 2018.

Noncitizen Voting Is Easy

The United States does not currently issue any general-use document intended to confirm both identity and citizenship. While a U.S. passport may be used for both these purposes, it is a travel document. Most people seek a passport when planning a trip and only a relatively small proportion of the population holds a passport at any given time.

As a result, the preferred form of documentary identification in the United States is the drivers’ license. Drivers’ licenses are issued by the states, pursuant to a widely varying body of state-specific laws and regulations. Currently, twelve states and the District of Columbia allow illegal aliens to obtain a drivers’ license.

Congress attempted to address these issues with the Real ID Act, enacted May 11 2005, which established standards for state-issued licenses and other identity documents – including verification of immigration status. However, only 24 states and territories are currently compliant.11 Many of the allegedly compliant states have continued issuing licenses and state ID cards to illegal aliens and short-term visitors. Others – such as Delaware Utah – have continued to issue “driving privilege cards” or other non-license documents.

The intentions behind the Real ID Act also continue to be thwarted by certain provisions of the NVRA. These provisions, known as the “Motor-Voter Law,” require state departments of motor vehicles to act as voter registration proxies. The information supplied by license applicants doubles as voter registration information and the registration process has become nearly automatic. Because so many states continue to issue driver’s licenses to noncitizens, it is relatively easy for aliens to commit voter fraud through the Motor-Voter system. When renewing a driver’s license by mail, they simply check the boxes indicating that they wish to be registered as voters and affirming that they are a U.S. citizen. Most often, they are added to the voter rolls without any attempt to verify the applicant’s citizenship.

Proof please. Show us evidence of widespread voter fraud. And voter fraud isn’t exactly just a liberal thing only. Gerrymandering and playing the electoral is voter fraud and the GOP’ers are the best at that.

So help me out here.. what makes AOCs treatment "anti-intellectualism and rampant sexism" when compared with the way the left has treated people like..

Sarah Palin
Nikki Haley
Elaine Chao
Carly Fiorina
Sandra Day O'Connor

You don't really have to answer because I already know the answer.. the left doesn't give a crap about women who don't agree with them, just like blacks, hispanics, immigrants, and LGBTs.... their tolerance and wishes for opportunities and success stops at the ideology. We all know that. Yet, there sits the left, up on their high horse, pretending to be in favor of smart and powerful women...

No, the right is full of BS and hypocrisy. A person's faith is between them and God but Trump's actions certainly are not like any respectable Christian I know.. he's not conservative either.

If a person is Christian and wants to vote for Trump.. go for it. But don't claim you are doing it out of some adherence to your faith.. that's ridiculous.

Trump steadily fulfills goals on religious right wish list

NEW YORK (AP) — When Donald Trump assumed the presidency, conservative religious leaders drew up “wish lists’ of steps they hoped he’d take to oppose abortion and rein in the LGBTQ-rights movement. With a flurry of recent actions, Trump’s administration is now winning their praise for aggressively fulfilling many of their goals.

Mat Staver, president of the legal advocacy organization Liberty Counsel, said Trump has fulfilled about 90% of the goals on a list that Staver and other conservative leaders compiled.

“In the first two years of his administration, he’s achieved more than all of the presidents combined since Ronald Reagan,” Staver said. “He’s been the most pro-religious freedom and pro-life president in modern history.”

One of the most dramatic steps — hailed by conservatives and decried by liberals — came this week when the Department of Health and Human Services implemented a new rule for the federal family planning program known as Title X. Planned Parenthood, long a target of religious conservatives because of its role as the leading U.S. abortion provider, quit the program — walking away from tens of millions of dollars in grants — rather than comply with a new rule prohibiting clinics from referring women for abortions.

The Rev. Robert Jeffress, pastor of the Southern Baptist megachurch First Baptist Dallas and a frequent guest at the White House, predicted that Trump would win more evangelical votes in 2020 than he did in 2016, when they helped provide his margin of victory.

“When he ran in 2016 and promised pro-life, pro-religious freedom policies, most evangelicals who voted for him didn’t know whether he would or could fulfill those promises,” Jeffress said. “When they look back now, they see he checked off all of those goals. ... He’ll win by an even larger margin on basis of promises kept.”

For the religious right, “Every day is Christmas,” said Rachel Laser, president & CEO of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. She worries that the mantra of “religious freedom” is being used to protect some Americans while hurting others.

“Trump is advancing religious right priorities in the short term through administrative actions and in the long term through his appointment of young, right-wing ideologues to lifetime positions on the federal judiciary,” Montgomery added in an email.

Alliance Defending Freedom is among the conservative legal groups that has litigated against numerous Obama-era initiatives and has welcomed Trump’s moves to reverse them.

“The defense of life, free speech, and religious liberty should never be subject to political and cultural whims,” said Kristen Waggoner, an ADF senior vice president. “They are constitutional guarantees, and we are grateful that this administration recognizes that reality and is taking serious steps to correct injustice and protect all Americans.”

List of judges compiled by Heritage Foundation.

So we can add 'empty vessel' and 'useful tool' to his list of attributes. Pfffft.

Democrats may try to eliminate Ocasio-Cortez’s House seat, paper says

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., would do well to prepare to see her House seat vanish after this year's redistricting over to her targeting of "established Democrats" with funds from her Courage to Change PAC, according to a New York Post editorial.

The editorial, which ran on Sunday, said the freshman representative has been in "hot water" with some in the party for "refusing to pay dues to her caucus' fundraising arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee" and instead devotes resources to "defeating Democrats."

Ocasio-Cortez, 30, launched her own political action committee with the hopes of supporting some challengers "who refuse to bow to establishment pressure."

The PAC's endorsements included four House candidates running to unseat Democratic incumbents: Marie Newman for Illinois' 5th district, Samelys Lopez for New York's 15th district, Jessica Cisneros for Texas' 28th district, and Teresa Fernandez for New Mexico's third district.

Did U.S. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Graduate [censored] Laude from Boston University?

While "bartender" may be the most frequently mentioned part of her résumé, the congresswoman has quite a few other accomplishments to her name.

Claim
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez graduated [censored] laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011.

Rating - True

Origin
On 2 April 2019, U.S. President Donald Trump referred to U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a “young bartender” during a fundraising dinner for the National Republican Congressional Committee. Trump was, of course, hardly the first to paint Ocasio-Cortez as inexperienced or unqualified for her position in Congress. Ever since she became the youngest woman to be elected to that legislative body during the 2018 midterm elections, we’ve encountered dozens of posts about her résumé.

One of the biggest talking points among Ocasio-Cortez’s detractors is that she is uneducated. For example, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson labeled her a “moron” during a segment on his show, the Powerline blog published an article under the rhetorical title “HOW DUMB IS OCASIO-CORTEZ?” and numerous social media users have posted their own derogatory comments insulting the congresswoman’s intelligence.

This rhetoric likely helped sow the seeds of doubt over Ocasio-Cortez’s academic record. One email we received here at Snopes, for instance, questioned whether the congresswoman truly had an economics degree: “Much to do about AOC — Ocasio Cortez — of late and questions about her college degree? We read she actually did not get an econ degree, but an International Relations degree. If so, much of her credibility is in question. What is real here?”

The satirical Babylon Bee added a bit more confusion to the situation when they latched onto the criticism and published an article stating that the congresswoman’s economics degree had been revoked.

Here is the reality: Ocasio-Cortez truly graduated [censored] laude from Boston University in 2011. In an article about distinguished alumni, the university wrote that “Ocasio-Cortez graduated from Boston University in 2011 with a BA in International Relations and Economics.”

We reached out to the university to clarify the issue: Did she earn a degree in international relations with a focus in economics? Or did she major in both international relations and economics? They indicated that the latter was true.

A spokesperson for the university told us: “She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with two majors in International Relations and Economics. Latin Honors awarded was [censored] laude that is not tied to an individual major but the degree.”

A spokesperson for the congresswoman added: “She was awarded a double major [degree] in both International Relations and Economics.”

It seems relevant to note that possessing a college degree is not a requirement for becoming a member of the House of Representatives in the U.S. Congress. The only constitutional requirements are that members must be U.S. citizens, residents of the areas they represent, and at least 25 years of age. While the majority of Congressmembers do have college degrees, a profile of the 115th Congress published in December 2018 found that 18 members of the U.S. House of Representatives had no educational degree beyond a high school diploma.

The congresswoman’s college years weren’t the only part of her résumé that had been called into question — we’ve also received queries about internships, science projects, and asteroids. A popular meme posted to the Facebook page “Occupy Democrats” summed up a few of the claims about Ocasio-Cortez’s alleged accomplishments:

The claims made in this meme are largely accurate.

In high school, she won 2nd place at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

Before she became a congresswoman, Ocasio-Cortez was a high school student with an interest in microbiology. While the statement reproduced above is largely accurate, we have one small caveat about it: Ocasio-Cortez won second place in the microbiology category at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), not second place overall for the entire fair.

The Society for Science and the Public, the organization that hosts ISEF, wrote about Ocasio-Cortez’s accomplishment in a 7 November 2018 article and congratulated their former contestant on her congressional victory:

Congratulations to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (ISEF 2007) on winning her election to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District! In 2007, Alexandria placed second in the International Science and Engineering Fair in the Microbiology category with her project on the effect of antioxidants on roundworms.

As a science student at Yorktown High School, Alexandria tested the effect of various antioxidants on the lifespan of roundworms, known as Caenorhabditis elegans.

When organisms are under oxidative stress, there are more free radicals (chemicals with unpaired electrons) than antioxidants in the body to neutralize them. Those free radicals react quickly with many other chemicals, and without antioxidants to neutralize them, create cellular chaos. Such an unstable cellular environment has been hypothesized to be responsible for wrinkles, neurological diseases and even cancer.

In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez

Ocasio-Cortez may have have not won first place at ISEF, but her efforts didn’t go unnoticed. MIT was apparently impressed enough with her work that they named a small asteroid after her.

The congresswoman posted about this unique achievement on Twitter:

Readers interested in the specifics of this asteroid can read more about it on the website of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). For those only interested in how the asteroid got its name, NASA included this note at the bottom of their page:

23238 Ocasio-Cortez: Discovered 2000 Nov. 20 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team in Socorro.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (b. 1989) was awarded second place in the 2007 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her microbiology project. She attends the Yorktown High School, Yorktown Heights, New York, U.S.A.

She attended Boston University, where she had a John F. Lopez Fellowship

The John F. Lopez Fellowship (JFL) program is offered by the National Hispanic Institute and is available to undergraduate students who “demonstrate leadership potential, willingness to face challenges, and ability to share talent and skill with the Hispanic/Latino community.” NHI Magazine noted Ocasio-Cortez’s time as a JFL intern when they named her the National Hispanic Institute’s “Person of the Year” in 2017:

Ocasio-Cortez is accustomed to beating the odds and forging forward with determination. She was tutored well by her father throughout her early years, and kept close company with her mother, grandmother, and younger brother. At just 17, her father suddenly became ill and died, but bearing the burden of that heavy and personal loss, she enrolled at Boston University, completed her program in four years, and graduated fourth in her class.

As a high school student, she participated in the NHI Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session and became intensely involved in the organization’s work, going on to serve as an LDZ Secretary of State and a John F. Lopez Intern while in college.

During college, she interned in the immigration office for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy

Ocasio-Cortez has talked about her internship in Senator Ted Kennedy’s office on numerous occasions. She’s posted about it on Twitter and has discussed the experience in various interviews.

Here’s how she described her internship in the foreign affairs and immigration office of Senator Kennedy in a 2018 article published by Mic:

After enrolling at Boston University on a scholarship from Intel, Ocasio-Cortez found herself working in the foreign affairs and immigration office of Sen. Ted Kennedy from early 2008 until his death in 2009.

“I was the only Spanish speaker, and as a result, as basically a kid — a 19-, 20-year-old kid — whenever a frantic call would come into the office because someone is looking for their husband because they have been snatched off the street by ICE, I was the one that had to pick up that phone,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I was the one that had to help that person navigate that system.”

That experience shaped her understanding of the challenges faced by undocumented people in the United States — challenges she says Democrats in Congress have not done enough to fix.

Boston University’s profile of the congresswoman on their “Distinguished Alumni” page also notes that “during her time at BU, she was an intern in the immigration office of US Senator Ted Kennedy.”

This should put the argument that she is dumb to bed.

Yet the same people who say how unqualified she is to do her job never say a peep about Jerod or Ivanka's resume' and how that would ever qualify them to work in The White House.

On April Fool’s Day, suddenly everyone (on Twitter, at least) was talking about freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) purported economics degree from Boston University. The conversation began with this tweet:

.@AOC does NOT have an economics degree.

She took 12 credit hours in economics, in classes like "Economics of Less-Developed Regions," as part of her international relations degree.

"I have a degree in economics" is another example of AOC's pattern of compulsive lying. https://t.co/MKDGqnwYz1

Ferguson’s tweet was based on a piece at Bastion of Liberty that questioned the following sentence on AOC’s Wikipedia entry:

“Ocasio-Cortez majored in international relations and economics at Boston University, graduating [censored] laude in 2011.

By viewing Boston University’s degree requirements online, the author concluded that AOC most likely had been awarded a BA in International Relations with a Track in Economics, Business, and Politics:

“NOT an Econ major, although that has been the implied degree in many of the stories written about her. Many of them skate over the actual major, preferring to word the details as though she were a budding Milton Friedman (only smarter and more woke).”

AOC herself has made seemingly different claims. Her website states that “she earned degrees in Economics and International Relations.”

So, Does AOC Really Have an Economics Degree From Boston University?

In a June 2018 tweet, she didn’t mention the International Relations degree.

It’s true!

Science was my first passion. Asteroid named by @MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory in honor of longevity experiments I conducted out of Mt. Sinai.

My research won 2nd place globally in Microbiology at @intel ISEF. At BU I started as science major, changed to Econ 🤓#nerdalert https://t.co/MICD5me2Wm

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) June 12, 2018

But earlier that year, in February 2018, she’d implied that she had two bachelor’s degrees – one in economics and “another in international relations.”

“May not have an education?”

I have a degree in Economics and another in Intl. Relations from Boston University.

Before that MIT honored my work in microbiology.

“No career?” I started under Ted Kennedy and served as Educational Director for the National Hispanic Institute.

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) February 1, 2018

Twitter users on both sides of the argument pointed to a “2019 Distinguished Alumni Award” entry on the Boston University Economics department webpage stating that AOC graduated with a “BA in International Relations and Economics” to prove their point. One side claimed that meant she had degrees in both economics and international relations; the other claimed it meant she had a degree in international relations with a concentration or emphasis in economics.

So, Does AOC Really Have an Economics Degree From Boston University?

By viewing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s listing in the Boston University Alumni Directory, in which the graduation year, degree, and major(s) listed are controlled by the University Registrar, and having an understanding of the differences between a double major and a dual degree, the matter should be cleared up. Below, a screenshot of AOC’s listing in the Boston University Alumni Directory.

So, Does AOC Really Have an Economics Degree From Boston University?

It states that she graduated in 2011 from the College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and that her Primary Education Major is International Relations. But wait, there’s more.

So, Does AOC Really Have an Economics Degree From Boston University?

AOC’s Primary Education Major 2 is economics. It appears that Ocasio-Cortez has a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in both International Relations and Economics. International Relations and Economics are both departments within Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences (this author is also a graduate of Boston University who initially majored in International Relations and has familiarity with how the school is structured).

Technically, this would mean AOC double majored. Prepscholar.com explains the differences between a double major and a dual degree:

Typically, a double major means you’ll be studying two fields that are based in the same school and that’ll earn you the same type of degree, such as a Bachelor of Arts (BA), a Bachelor of Science (BS), or a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA).

By contrast, a dual degree usually means you’ll be studying two unique fields that are based in two different schools and that’ll earn you two different types of degrees (e.g., a BS and a BFA).

AOC could have bypassed all of this confusion had she simply stated that she double-majored at Boston University, in International Relations and Economics. But, since when has clarity of communication been something the public expected or received from AOC?

There are plenty of criticisms to be made about AOC’s policies, tactics, and her level of economic understanding. A wonderful question that should be asked is, in light of her BA in International Relations and Economics (with honors), her scientific accolades, and the fact that she resided in the capital of the world’s financial markets, why was she bartending before she ran for Congress to make ends meet? Was that just part of a ploy to connect with the Bernie Bros, concocted by the Justice Democrats and her Chief of Staff?

So, let’s not get distracted by a discussion of which degree she has and by speculating about how many hours of economic instruction she took based on an out-of-date course bulletin. (The one in effect for AOC can be found here.) Quite a few of AOC’s fellow Terriers would be happy if the first thing people thought of when the name “Boston University” is mentioned is *not* an economic illiterate.

Yeah I know. People will use some right wing rag to try and make a point and forget the facts. It's all the rage in the age of Trump.

I wondered also why, with that degree, or those degrees, she was a bartender. That doesn't put B.U. in a good light. Although, on the other hand, she is a member of congress, so I guess that offsets?
