Here is the Facebook video story from the BBC

The interview with the mayor of Bergamo (where that woman lives that made that post) is actually at the end of this video.

I will give an example.

I went to my soccer bar this evening. We have a game tonight.

It was empty. Normally it would be packed.

All those bartenders, servers, wait staff, cooks, getting paid negatively because no customers.

Those are the young people who spend money on games.

I also read that Delta Airlines having business
cutbacks because of this.

My local examples. Business and employees hurt from the biggest to the smallest.

Kind of a creepy scene at the Thunder game just now

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

UPDATED COVID-19 Statement from Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
https://www.nba.com/cavaliers/releases/statement-200311

“Although the exact scope, terms and timing of the order announced by Governor DeWine this afternoon are not immediately available, we are undergoing an extensive process of review with the NBA, G-League, AHL, NCAA and concert and event producers to plan for our next steps and impacts related to the order. Updates will be provided as we advance through this process and the continuing evolution of these very unique circumstances with our leagues and event partners.

The Cleveland Monsters AHL hockey game this Sunday afternoon, March 15th, will now be played with no fans in attendance. Ticket holders for that game will be contacted directly by the Monsters regarding their account options which will include a refund in the form of a credit towards future games or an immediate refund.

The NCAA first and second round tournament games slated for March 20th and 22nd will be played in a closed environment with only essential staff and limited team family members in attendance. Tickets will be refunded at the place of original purchase.

Specific Cavaliers ticket refund information will be announced as soon as possible following our receipt of the official terms and timing of the Governor’s order. The next home Cavaliers game is March 24th.”

Rate this is escalating we might see martial law enacted at some point soon with street patrols, mobile testing, mandatory quarantining, food distribution, etc.

Sounds like something like that will be necessary in Italy soon.

I saw a travel group on fb that had a listing posted yesterday for a 4 day Bahamas cruise leaving Charleston SC tomorrow. Interior rooms were double occupancy 10 dollars per person and ocean rooms were 20 per person

Federally funded tests conducted by scientists from several major institutions indicated that the novel form of coronavirus behind a worldwide outbreak can survive in the air for several hours.

A study awaiting peer review from scientists at Princeton University, the University of California-Los Angeles and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) posted online Wednesday indicated that the COVID-19 virus could remain viable in the air "up to 3 hours post aerosolization," while remaining alive on plastic and other surfaces for up to three days.

"Our results indicate that aerosol and fomite transmission of HCoV-19 is plausible, as the virus can remain viable in aerosols for 42 multiple hours and on surfaces up to days," reads the study's abstract.

Montana & Wyoming have fallen.

Alaska, Maine, Idaho, North Dakota, Alabama, and Mississippi are all that's left.

Is this different than the common knowledge that it was transmissible aerosolized?

It's a new article, but it doesn't feel like new information.

I had not seen this article.
I had heard it could live on some surfaces for a few hours, not days

Brazil now has 52 cases after starting the day with 31.

Seriously can't find information on the cases or local transmissibility.

I was not aware of that, either.

I actually felt the first bit of real, deep concern tonight while watching one of those Joe Rogan videos. Like, pit of the stomach type feelings.

I'm sincerely hoping we get the order to work from home from now on. I have zero desire to be in a building with recycled air.

On the front of paying attention to the southern hemisphere... I think Australia and Tom Hanks have given us the answer. Do not expect warming weather to mitigate things.

The Chief Health Officer of New South Wales, Australia is expecting 20% of their population to become infected. That is up to 1.6 million people with 80,000 expected to require intensive care.

So should I leave these packages from amazon closed for a few days because I just got a few things that I'm sure were maid in China? With this 2 week incubation and now it can be airborne for 48 hours and on surfaces for days, I'm beginning to feel like my whole life is a petri dish.

Those items left China a long time ago. New shipments from China have been slow for over a month, at least according to Amazon sellers. No virus could be on your package, be shipped over seas, survive for weeks in transit, inventory locations, repackaging, and shipment to your house. Your only concern is a contaminated package... which would have to survive the shipping process. Disinfect your package, if you're worried, and don't be concerned beyond that.

I went to Wal-Mart today to do my shopping, and what 2 items that I wanted to get were they out of? TP and Clorox Wipes. crazy

When I say that they were out of TP, I don't mean just the brand I use, they were out of everything. Weird thing is that this virus isn't supposed to cause intestinal distress.

yeah, I find the TP thing interesting.

On a side note, I have noticed, and know, more people this season that have gotten Flu-A than in any years past. 3 people at work so far (that I know of), and 2 friends, and have heard of at least 6 others that I know.

Seems like germ season is in high gear.

This begs the question. Is all our over-sanitization of our daily lives weakening our immune systems to fight this stuff off in it's early stages?

Exposure to some daily bacteria in small doses, is a good thing and helps maintain a strong immune system.

That is a daily occurrence at our Walmart. Virus or no virus....LOL The logistics at our Walmart is the worst I have ever seen. Add in the terrible customer service (albeit a few exceptions) and we do everything possible to avoid our Walmart.

Well, the positives is that Walmart decided to open up more than 3 checkout lines!

I'm not sure why anyone is worried about TP. Get food, water, meds, soap and ammo. You can always use rags or a shower to clean off your behind, but you NEED things to eat and drink.
