I'll admit Joe has only had slight moments of senility. bar is low for moderates. Bernie on the other hand is steady in his commitment to bring real meaningful change. Sad that you can't see that.

To answer you question: yes... they can vote by mail.
But they can't vote as easily and seamlessly as other American citizens on election day...

..which is the point of all of this.

If Voter S has 3 times the ability/opportunity to cast his/her vote(s) as Voter I, the systemic inequity is baked into the results of every election. Guys like arch who can flash their ID's, cast a vote in 15 minutes or less, and return to the next rug/carpet cleaning job have a baked-in advantage over guys like clem who must stand in line for 2 hours to cast the same "one person/one vote."

Voter suppression extends far beyond the scope of what you allow yourself to see. It's not just possessing an ID. and walking up to the next voting machine. It also shows up in a system that allows someone like archbolddawg to cast his vote in less than 5 minutes, while a voter like Clemdawg is forced to dedicate at least 2 hours of his life to exercise that same "right."

Did you read the article I referenced?

Do you know anything about the efforts Alabama put forth to strategically limit the power of the Black Belt vote?
Do you even know what Alabama's 'Black Belt' is?
Do you realize how many states leaped at the chance to make voting harder for select, targeted voting blocs?

Because Your American Experience doesn't require you to know/understand/care about such things.

My American Experience requires knowing such things as these as a basic survival skill.

I'm 15 years older than you, live in a city, and am a person of color.

1. Were you ever required to find day care for Sooga so you could vote? Because casting your vote required an expenditure of 3+ hours of your life? People who live near me have to take such things into consideration on Election Day.
2. Did 'Martha' ever have to lose pay/work hours to stop by the local Fulton County poling address? Toledo Moms did. Voting actually cost them hourly income.
3. Has it ever been a chore/planned activity for you to cast a vote? Or has it always been this thing you could take for granted because it was this easy, 10-minute detour in your November day?

The difference between your voting experience and mine is the very definition of voter suppression. The stories of our own families' voting experiences are an even more stark example of how Two Different Americas exist.


It runs much deeper than simply having an ID card in one's pants pocket. Sometimes, it's as basic as having a place to vote at all.

I've had to wait more than two hours one time I believe, and that was in 2008 in a predominantly white neighborhood in Dublin, ohio. But it was just slightly over 2 hours. It was also the last time I voted on election day instead of voting early.

You used more than one post to suggest that voting wasn't made harder for people. It has been made harder for people in certain places. Now you're back peddling.

All you had to do is add Trump to the mix and there would have been three of them.

This happened because of centrists having a meltdown that a progressive was winning. And I'm going to complain about it until November, do what I have to do to get rid of Trump, then be done with establishment loving democrats and their party. If Bernie was that strong of a candidate than a consolidation of moderate candidates shouldn’t have mattered.

You forgot that in 2016, sanders still lost the primary popular vote against Clinton as well. That’s not being silenced, that’s simply not appealing to a broader base.
