Jack Conklin agreed to a 3-year deal with the Browns for $42M with $30M fully guarantee, per @RosenhausSports . He earns $20mil in the first year. Wanted to keep it short due to the projected increases in the salary cap. Conklin will only be 28 when this deal expires. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1239658577914146817

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

That's nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

Shorter on the years and lighter on the money ... good job FO!

$14 million AAV would make Conklin tied for tenth highest paid offensive linemen.
Home run deal.

but ... but .. but .. The Moneyballers won't spend money. The Front Office wants to tear down and build a monument to Shashi .. They only want to create holes and sign bad, cheap players for the Browns ....

Signing Conklin and Hooper is my dream scenario going into the offseason

Hubbard was a decent right guard for the Steelers IIRC There may actually be a plan in the works here ...

Or maybe we move him inside to Guard, where I believe he played well for the Steelers.

I had two major upgrades in my mind, and we got both of them ... let’s hope I’m not as dumb as I usually am

Hubbard was a decent right guard for the Steelers IIRC There may actually be a plan in the works here ... $7,268,750 is not horrible if he can start. My guess is that he won't be on the team.

very good signing. RT, but could move him to LT and draft a LT for the future to work him in first at RT. A Big Ten bully.

It depends on who we’ll draft, but keeping him at RT is probably ideal

Smart ... we can pick and choose who to re-sign in a year and two

J/C Holy Crap as a lot of people have said. I just left work knowing of A Hooper and saying "I just want Conklin". We got both. Now lets go get G Glasgow the OG from Detroit and finish the right side of the line. This is a great day, Mr Berry you is doing just fine!!!!!!

Great signing.
I wonder if there is a clause in every free agent contract about "if" the season is played. Six months till the season but what about OTA's and Camp?
A deploy-able vaccine may be a year to a year and a half away.
Uncertain times

we actually got our Top flight LT... Just 4 years later... check this out.. The Tennessee Titans selected Conklin in the first round (8th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.[14] The Tennessee Titans traded their first (15th overall) and third round (76th overall) picks in the 2016 NFL Draft to the Cleveland Browns in order to receive the eighth overall pick, as well as a sixth round pick (176th overall), to draft Conklin. Conklin was the second offensive tackle drafted after the unexpected draft fall of top ranked offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.

with the price we are paying him, I would see if he wants to be our LT first. He started the last 9 games as a Freshman, all Sophomore and Junior year at Michigan St at LT. 35 OF 38 games as their LT.
Do the Browns sign another RT that has some starting experience, but is cheap, and plug that Guy in at RT. That way... with the 10th pick in the draft, it is Browns draft Best Player available, instead of LT.

It may depend on who we get in the draft and how they fit as a LT or RT. ATM though, things are looking a lot better..
caveat .. at least on paper

The FO knocked it out of the park with all these signings but getting Conklin at that price is impressive. Couple that with the structure of the contract it's the kind of deal you would expect from an Ivy League brain trusts. Brilliant is not too strong a word.

Agreed. Today was a HR in my mind. Three primary targets at positions of need

No. There is little difference between left tackle and right tackle at this point (in pay and on the field). You don't pay a guy this much to switch positions.
