Sorry, on my work computer, and I don't want to click on the link.
It's talking about trading Greedy for Gilmore, right? Is there something else that makes it a bad trade. Gilmore is the best corner in the game.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Thanks Kash. I'd still consider it. Just imagine if Ward lived up to his potential. You essentially have two corners that need no help. The wonders that could do for a defense is immeasurable, IMO. Also, after this trade, sign Clowney!

It's a pretend, fantasy island type of trade. Another article on the site if that the Browns signing Robbie Anderson and traded OBJ could be "sneaky good".

Not only that... it's a "what can other teams do to help the Patriots" scenario. It makes no sense, and the article accidentally highlights some of this... again, form the prospective of it can help the Patriots.

Not a trade the Browns need to take and should not take. [/color] I don't believe analytics would support a one-for-trade of Gilmore and Greedy... I didn't click the link. I'm assuming this is a made up trade? But why would analytics not support this trade? Not factoring in skill/talent level, you have: Age. Prime years remaining. Money. Rookie contract. Value. How does he fit in to your master matrix of importance by position? Just a few things off the top of my head...

Garbage would be my word of choice.
Folks, let's not post links to made-up ideas for trades lest it give the idea that these are actually happening. If it is just someone's hairbrained idea on another site that the trade could work, just share the info, I don't think we need a link for that as nothing factual is actually being reported.

The link didn't work. Could you provide more details? Vers...See if this worksThis Browns-Patriots Trade Involving Stephon Gilmore And Greedy Williams Could Actually Work Link 25 March 2020 07:23 The departure of Tom Brady as well as many key figures on defense have forced the New England Patriots to seriously consider rebuilding as they try to find their next franchise quarterback. One move that could help accelerate the New England rebuild is trading 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore in exchange for some serious draft capital. The Cleveland Browns, in need of another superstar defensive player, should be all over an elite corner like Gilmore. Certainly doing something.

I don’t think the trade for Gilmore fits this FO’s mindset ... Gilmore is GOOD but NE knows he’s just reaching the point of losing value

Stephon Gilmore won DPOY for the 2019 season. I'd trade Greedy Williams for him every time and not think twice about it.
Maybe if the Patriots wanted to sign Cam Newton this trade would make more sense. They have almost no cap space.

As always, there are a ton of trade rumors,, How about the one that says the Browns are shopping OBJ to San Fran..
I'd think (hope) that stefanski sees the potential there and wants to have it on the Browns team.

I don't want him. I'd rather draft a rookie and throw them in the fire.
#teamAndrewThomas Hot...I agree with your opinion, draft a LT and hopefully be done with that position for a long time.
Williams would be nothing more than another bandaide approach that might work for a year or two...or Williams might once again have issues with the wound on his head. The wound was cancerous and was operated on in March 2019.
Williams did not play in 2019 though he did try but wearing a helmet irritated the wound area. Until he takes hits to the head there will be no way to determine if that might be so uncomfortable that he can't play this season. It might not be a problem but there is no way to know until he plays.
...do the Browns want to take that chance on a 31 yr old LT?
Also, in the 3 years before 2019 Williams missed... ...3 games in 2018 ...6 games in 2017 ...4 games in 2016 ...13 games total...plus the 16 games in 2019.
TOO MUCH OF A RISK, imo
agree 100%... might add - what happens to his motivation after he gets a big pay day, we seen that go into the crapper more than once on FA signings

I guess a small guarantee and a big per game paycheck and bonus based on playing 16 games? But yeah - injury is a concern for sure.

Just an observation of what has been done and what might be done.
If you look close at what this FO is doing you'd see they have been trying to get quality veteran players for starters and depth while controlling the cap for future years. That's why you are seeing a lot of 1-year deals and mostly front end loaded contracts that will carry almost no dead money in future years if the player is cut (released).
With the most cap money left at this stage, 1) I don't believe the Browns are done dealing and 2) Carrying 40 million in cap every year into the next is not investing into your team if your always carrying cap. The important thing to consider is managing the cap not saving it - I think this FO is showing that mindset (at least up to now).
Now the Browns have some rookie deals coming due for resigning and right now I believe they are positioned well to address those contracts if resigning is in the cards (asking price, performance, backup's progress, team chemistry, draft candidates, and of course team direction). Keep in mind - THIS IS A BUSINESS - unpopular and difficult decisions have to be made every year.
Needs, FA, Draft: It's no secret the Browns are in desperate need of a LT. However, LB could be a bigger need with safety a concern and DE to a lessor extent but still a need. First LT, the FO is clearly looking at LT considering value and risk. Of the 5 proposed first round tackles, 1 is being considered being more effective as a guard. 2 are being strongly consider RT's which is not a need. of the 2 that are considered LT's, 1 will be selected before our pick and the second is considered a A+ run blocker but will need work on pass blocking. Since 2011, the success rate for 1st round draft picks is 53%. Now OL have a higher success rate but that is driven by the high success of interior lineman not the tackles. That said, when you have an opportunity to get an established Pro Bowl tackle (7 Pro Bowls in 9 years) that you can front end load his contract and get a future tackle in the 2nd or 3rd round it becomes a no brainer because you have a 100% plug and play. Low risk, high return and a plan for the future without sacrificing this years team on a 53% gamble.
The latest mock drafts have Clemson's Isaiah Simmons LB falling to the Browns at #10. Simmons played 100-plus snaps at five different positions in 2019. The converted safety won the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top college linebacker, but Simmons is a versatile chess piece that can win in a variety of ways. Considering this is now a critical need for the Browns, getting Williams and drafting Simmons addresses two positions of critical need for the Browns instead of just one by drafting a LT in the 1st round. Again, the FO has to look at value, risk, and reward.
Safety might be a concern the entire year though 2 veterans have been signed. A way to help with that issue since the Browns will not be able to address until the later rounds is to upgrade the DE position opposite Garrett. Right now, Vernon holds that position but is he a big enough threat to free up Garrett? I believe the FO has serious questions about whether Vernon is the answer or not. I believe that's why the rumors persist about Griffin and/or Clowney. If the Brown's are going to be weak at safety they must be solid on their pass rush and Vernon is a serious question mark right now based on his performance and injury from 2019.

That is why I'm an advocate for a one year deal for Jason Peters.
No matter what, we're drafting a tackle... the only question is whether he can step right in or if he needs a year to grow into it. Peters can be that bridge without giving up anything crazy at all for him.
Trent Williams is just expensive drama-in-waiting that will miss games. If you're going to get a guy that will miss games, get one that doesn't break the bank.

If we can get Peters for short term, go all in on Simmons and draft LT in the 2nd, I'm happy.

Man, Sendejo gets no love on here. What love should he get Dawg? Don't know much about him. He is a very solid coverage safety. Has good ball skills. He is a bit older but has preformed well the last 3 years. He graded higher than Randall last year (I think because he had 3 picks) and I believe he can be a stop gap until we get the safety up to speed that we are drafting.
