I have that same problem. I'm conservative leaning and I openly criticize Trump, other idiot republicans and some of their bogus stances. But it seems like the libs I know personally and the ones on this board will always, without exception, take the left side of every debate and support every democrat that comes down the pike. Supporting Dewine is an outlier....hell, I didn't even like him before the coronavirus became an issue.

OCD and Dawg Duty. Bam! .........Hmmmm.......seems to be a lot more on the left that are mean. That sucks.

Anyway..........we are in a pandemic and you guys are still playing some childish political game that is inconsequential in the name of furthering your own opinions.

Just freaking stop! You are making yourselves look bad for all the worst possible reasons.

Pretty sure I've made several posts in this thread and others to set aside politics in the moment. And criticizing is not always meant as political bashing as much as it is a lack of respect for the man himself.

On a more personal side note, I'd love to see you try to bash my head in any way, even if it's just imaginary like in your last post. smh... We've been getting along better recently and the best way to continue that is to omit me from statements like this which are easily received as attacks. Don't start none, won't be none and we can just get along.

Meh, most of us can and do have conversations in between the political shots at each other. It only gets really ugly when somebody comes way too hard. Most of the post you see taking shots between the sides are just trolling each other, I don't even pay attention to those as attacks. I'd much rather vent in here than clash on the street like a lot of people have been doing. It's a good release for the pressure caused by the divides we have spent the last several years in as a country.

Haven't been around much... but here's a numbers update at the close of 4/1 for the US.....

Total cases 215,003 (growing at over 25,000 per day now)
Total recovered 8,878
Total deaths 5,102
Still pending active cases 201,023

That means that 36.48% of the cases that have been “resolved” resulted in death. We have over 201,000 cases still active and rapidly growing. If this rate holds, we can expect tens of thousands of more deaths.

Maybe the disparity is that it takes weeks to recover but only days to die because only 2.5% of our active cases are currently considered “serious/critical”.

JMHO, we have a long way to go, we are going to see a lot more deaths, and those who were making the “it’s just the flu” argument and those who were comparing it to Swine Flu (for political reasons) are going to end up looking pretty bad. We are going to blow by both of those numbers.

Sorry man, you should be ashamed you said that, but you aren't.

This pointing fingers BS needs to stop. This is a National, Worldwide crisis and we still have people talking politics.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is getting a beefed-up security detail ... because our nation's top infectious-disease expert is now the target of a growing number of threats.
It's pretty crazy ... Dr. Fauci is facing threats to his personal safety and a wave of unwanted communications from fanatic followers, according to the Washington Post, forcing the feds to step up the good doc's security.
Fauci has fast become the face of the nation's response to the coronavirus pandemic, often appearing on TV and taking the podium at President Trump's daily briefings, where he's unafraid to deliver harsh truths about the spread of the virus and the need for Americans to shelter in place.
But, with added fame comes added criticism ... and he's facing tons of backlash from different pockets and corners of the online community.
While Fauci is suddenly getting more security, the Post says the exact nature of the threats against the doctor remains unclear.

Pfff .... the trump era

DOD to provide 100K body bags as coronavirus deaths grow

The Department of Defense plans to provide 100,000 body bags at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as the coronavirus death toll is expected to rise, the DOD confirmed Wednesday.

Either be an American and pull together or take a hike, and I mean it. I am tired of the BS on all sides. And I am not just talking to you, Roy. There are several other posters I hold in esteem that are very disappointing in their comments.

You have disappointed me as well with some of your drivel but that hasn't stopped you.

So you are joining those that come to a political forum and claim this isn't the place to talk politics? Maybe you missed the news where there have been people say pretty much exactly that.

Texas' lieutenant governor suggests grandparents are willing to die for US economy

Maybe you should take it up with the man who said it and not the person reporting it.

I'm not absolving Trump, but that FL governor is super weak and a moron. FL should've been the first place shut down, but he keeps things open and doesn't say a word until all the spring breakers have left and then acts all tough and then finally does what he needed to do. Just highlights what a horrible leader he is.

Nation's top coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci forced to beef up security as death threats increase

(CNN)Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's top medical expert on the coronavirus pandemic and a member of President Donald Trump's coronavirus task force, is facing threats to his personal safety and now requires personal security from law enforcement at all times, including at his home, a source confirms to CNN.

A law enforcement official told CNN that the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General, the agency's law enforcement arm, asked the US Marshals Service for assistance following threats to Fauci. The Marshals then deputized HHS officers to act as personal security for the doctor.
The Washington Post first reported the threats to Fauci and the increased security.

A source also confirmed to CNN last week the presence of several members of the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department stationed at all times around Fauci's home in the district. The source added the stepped up visible police presence was a response to growing threats to Fauci's safety, though the source of the threats was not identified.

During the White House coronavirus task force briefing with reporters on Wednesday, Fauci was asked whether he or White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx, who also serves on the task force, had received threats of any kind or whether they had been assigned a security detail. He said he was not able to answer.

"Anything that has to do with security detail I would have to have you (ask your question) to the inspector general of HHS," he said, referencing the Department of Health and Human Services.

Fauci's response was quickly interrupted by Trump, who stepped up to the podium to say the nation's most visible infectious disease expert doesn't require protection.

"(He) doesn't need security, everybody loves them," said Trump. "Besides that, they'd be in big trouble if they ever attacked."

However, as Fauci's profile in the pandemic crisis has grown, so has the concern for his welfare. Fauci's guidance to Trump for the country to remain as locked down as possible to help control the virus spread has not earned fans among some fervent right-wing voices.

Fauci was among the health advisers on Trump's team encouraging a continuation of the current guidelines after the President heard from business leaders and some conservative allies that the restrictions were more damaging than the virus itself.

In fact, Trump's decision to extend those guidelines came after Fauci and Birx gave a strong presentation with the new models that showed 100,000 to 200,000 people could die, a source familiar with the President's decision told CNN.

"You don't make the timeline, the virus makes the timeline," Fauci told CNN last month when asked about how long the novel coronavirus could affect daily life in the US.

"You may see in a relatively shorter period of time, when you're seeing the inkling of the flattening and coming down," he said in reference to slowing the speed of the outbreak. "But you know, you can't make an arbitrary decision until you see what you're dealing with. You need the data."

We now live in a world that when you tell the truth it results in death threats.

Governor admits he didn't know asymptomatic people could pass virus

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Wednesday announced a stay-at home order across Georgia to try to curb the spread of the coronavirus. During the announcement, Kemp also stated he just learned asymptomatic people could transmit the virus.

I sound like a broken record, but the "number of cases" stat is so misleading, I wish they'd quit posting it. Ohio isn't testing at near the rate that NY is. There's no strict criteria on who gets tested, and to rank the states by positive tests is meaningless.

That doesn't even take into account the rate per capita. The raw statistics are very misleading.

I think some of these republican governors were following Trump's initial lead, but now that he has shifted to a more sober fact filled tract, the governors seem to still be in denial. I think a couple of them are criminally negligent at this point.

NONE of this data is accurate enough to draw 100% positive conclusions. Hell, there are some crowdsourced apps providing data on body temps and loss of smell that people are trying to factor into forecast! CROWDSOURCED... We will never know the true numbers of infected. We can only accurately count the very sick and dead when reported. That's not the best data to use if we are trying to get ahead of this thing. Total Fail on preparedness.

Yeah I replied to Jfan. sorry. J

Nevada has 32 deaths. Per capital that’s high. So population concentration like Las Vegas and Reno is a huge factor. Hence social distancing and lock down Nationwide. we’re screwed until trump can get on top of this with testing and ppe Friggin stuff spreads like wild fire by just breathing.

Yep. I need to make a store run today and all the fear in the news has my wife about to have a meltdown over it. Obviously I'm safer at home but I can't go without meds that they will only refill after certain timeframes and while I'm already going to be risking exposure I can't see the sense in not getting some other goods we need. Also pissd that sudafed (the real stuff) has to be signed for in store and can't be sold through the drive thru like prescriptions... wtf?

Also was going to do free pick up list but the website is only listing crap it thinks is in stock... If that's all that's in stock I can't see why they bother opening the stores. Not to mention that the local Kroger is taking pick up orders for 4 days from now today... smh

Just posted this in the other COVID thread...

Wear a mask when you go out. If you don’t have an N95, use a makeshift mask. A scarf, a tshirt, whatever you have. If you can, fold it in a way that you can put a layer of vacuum cleaner bag material between the folded layers. Be diligent about what you touch. Only touch it if you plan on buying it. Take your mask off only when back in your car. Sanitize your hands. Bring stuff home. Take off your shoes before you enter. Set your groceries down. Wash your hands. Quarantine what you can of your groceries. Wipe down/wash what you can’t quarantine. Be smart about touching surfaces as you’re putting your groceries away... the fridge handle, the meat drawer handle, etc. Wipe those surfaces down when done. Wash your hands. Go enjoy the rest of your day.
Be smart. Be safe.

Wash your hands. smile

New England Patriots team plane flying 1.2 million N95 masks from China to help ease coronavirus shortages

A New England Patriots team plane loaded with 1.2 million N95 protective masks is on its way back to Boston after picking up the vital supplies in China.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker tweeted a photo of the plane being loaded with the personal protective equipment that he said would go to the state's healthcare workers on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis.

According to a source, Baker is extremely frustrated that the federal government outbid him on supplies that were en route to Massachusetts. He worked with New England Patriots' owner Robert Kraft and the Patriots to get these supplies brought over from China.

"No days off. Thanks to some serious teamwork, Massachusetts is set to receive over 1 million N95 masks for our front-line workers. Huge thanks to the Krafts and several dedicated partners for making this happen," Baker said in the tweet.

Robert Kraft and Patriots president Jonathan Kraft partnered with the state to purchase 1.4 million N95 masks for Massachusetts, according to the team. Robert Kraft also purchased another 300,000 protective masks for New York state.

"It is an honor for our family to be a part of this humanitarian mission. We knew that purchasing greatly-needed N95 masks and providing the Patriots plane to expedite their delivery to local hospitals would immediately help protect our courageous healthcare professionals," Robert Kraft said in a statement provided by the Patriots.

The plane is scheduled to land at Boston's Logan International Airport Thursday afternoon carrying 1.2 million masks. A second shipment of another half-million N95 masks is scheduled to arrive as early as next week.

"The Krafts, our partners Ambassador Huang Ping, Dr. Jason Li, Gene Hartigan and our Covid-19 Command Center personnel teamed up to get this job done and we eagerly await the plane landing at Logan Airport soon," Baker said in a statement provided to CNN. "Our administration will keep pursuing the PPE necessary to support our brave front-line workers who are working tirelessly to save lives during this pandemic."

As of Thursday morning, Massachusetts has 7,738 reported cases of coronavirus and 122 people have died, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.

Baker has issued an emergency order requiring all Massachusetts businesses and organizations that do not provide essential services to close their physical workplaces to help slow the spread of coronavirus. These businesses are encouraged to continue their operations remotely. The order also limits public gatherings.

I dunno. It's the best leading stat that we have. I think it's still valuable as long as it's used with the understanding that new cases is under-reported due to limited testing and that rapid increases will probably be due to more widespread testing (in addition to the spread of the disease). The curve will look like we're NOT flattening the curve even though we are, due to cases that were already there finally being reported.
