I saw an article a few hours ago on testing in a single homeless shelter in Boston. Hundreds of positive tests and ALL were asymptomatic. There is another study that was done on wastewater in Boston that suggests they have exponentially more positive cases than their official number of 500.

My guess is school is done for the year in Ohio. I would hope so. Texas just cancelled remainder of the school year. Virtual learning only to continue.

There is a county in California that did some pretty extensive antibody testing-and I was actually pretty amazed what was reported.
Roughly 2-4% percent of the general population had the antibodies which would denote that at some point they had the virus-And the number they came up with would be approximately 50 times the known Covid positives for that county

PA has canceled school for a few weeks now ... If Ohio doesn’t I’d be surprised

I just need to comment that the wastewater that they are discussing is on the influent side of the treatment plant. It's one of the ways to find it, but that is a pretty tough chore because there are so many things in the influent. No chance on the effluent side, all waste water is disinfected prior to discharge. No chance of virus.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

That sounds frustrating and harrowing at the same time.
Sorry you had to endure that drama. Glad you've got your meds. Stay safe, bro.

This things has been here for however long and a tremendous amount of people have had it whether asymptomatic, with illness and yes, even deaths untested and written off as the regular seasonal influenza. All this leading to many having the antibodies which are stifling the expected surge and why the chances of a huge recurrence of infected folks could never materialize. We are ramping up surgeries as of Monday. Not alot but an increase over the emergency only procedures they'd been doing. I'm hearing May 1 they are bringing EVERYONE back on line and outside of distancing and masks are moving towards a business as usual state. No confirmation on that though. That place gets pretty full with patients and families when at 100% but I'm sure visiting restrictions will apply. And away we go...

This virus is well known to have asymptomatic and mild symptom people. For the most part the only people getting tested are the very sick or people with comorbiditites. So its probably running rampant under reported in the population.

There are a ton of charts/graphs/etc in this, but I will post the text part and then provide the link if people want to see the rest. I'm in Columbia, SC and believe me...........we have high temps and a high Dew point. I wish people would stop using "humidity." It's the Dew point that makes one uncomfortable. Sunlight destroys virus quickly, new govt. tests find, but experts say pandemic could last through summerJana Winter and Sharon Weinberger Jana Winter and Sharon Weinberger- Yahoo NewsApril 17, 2020, 4:07 PM EDT Scroll back up to restore default view. Preliminary results from government lab experiments show that the coronavirus does not survive long in high temperatures and high humidity, and is quickly destroyed by sunlight, providing evidence from controlled tests of what scientists believed — but had not yet proved — to be true. A briefing on the preliminary results, marked for official use only and obtained by Yahoo News, offers hope that summertime may offer conditions less hospitable for the virus, though experts caution it will by no means eliminate, or even necessarily decrease, new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The results, however, do add an important piece of knowledge that the White House’s science advisers have been seeking as they scramble to respond to the spreading pandemic. The study found that the risk of “transmission from surfaces outdoors is lower during daylight” and under higher temperature and humidity conditions. “Sunlight destroys the virus quickly,” reads the briefing. While that may provide some good news about the outlook for outdoor activities, the Department of Homeland Security briefing on the results cautions that enclosed areas with low humidity, such as airplane cabins, “may require additional care to minimize risk of transmission.” In a statement to Yahoo News, the DHS declined to answer questions about the findings and strongly cautioned against drawing any conclusions based on unpublished data. Photo illustration; Yahoo News; photos: Getty Images Photo illustration; Yahoo News; photos: Getty Images “The department is dedicated to the fight against COVID-19, and the health and safety of the American people is its top priority. As policy, the department does not comment on allegedly leaked documents,” the DHS said in a statement. “It would be irresponsible to speculate, draw conclusions, or to inadvertently try to influence the public based upon a document that has not yet been peer-reviewed or subjected to the rigorous scientific validation approach.” The results are contained in a briefing by the DHS science and technology directorate, which describes experiments conducted by the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center, a lab created after the 9/11 terrorist attacks to address biological threats. While the DHS describes the results as preliminary, they may eventually make their way into specific recommendations. “Outdoor daytime environments are lower risk for transmission,” the briefing states. https://www.yahoo.com/news/sunlight-dest...-200745675.html

What the hell is it, by the way? Comorbitiy is basically like a secondary cndidtion... for example if you have a primary diagnosis of obesity you may have a comrbidity of diabetes or hypertension

Most people now work and live in air conditioned spaces and the virus could still thrive in work and home environment spaces that had conditioned air

From a science perspective a virus is not difficult to kill.. it has to be in a wet environment.
A little bleach, warm day, uv light, even soap and water can kill it... the problem is preventing transmission from human to human.

I just kept an eye on equatorial and southern hemisphere infection rates. There is plenty of evidence that warmer weather just really isn't going to matter much. If you want to avoid it, you have one option: Antarctica.

Not in this together, you are all on your own.
GC. So I heard this thing on a, some sort of broadcast and I figure, Oh, we're not in this together we're all on our own. But then, it got repeated, way more often than necessary. there is a sign, and ya know it's as if there is a person with a bullhorn, and ya walk away from that and you go to cross the, uhh crosswalk in the street corner and a bus goes by and it says " we're not in this together you're all on your own" and the school kids, in the schools, We'll I guess it's Offline now a days, would all get their school work, it would say, We're not in this together you're all on your own"
and if you get past the bus, and start across the street, the little don't walk sign would be flashing "Hey don't forget, you're not in this together you're all on your own"
And you hear that repeated about a hundred thousand times, and you start to think, Hey, "We're not in this together we're all on our own"
And then someone says, Hey Wait wait wait. Tell them! "We're all in this together" you're not on your own.
Oh, and it's like the band playing on as the titanic sinks all over again.
No worries, though, Someone told me "not to panic" one time.
If they had said it a hundred times, I'd be alarmed.
And them somebody runs out of the Amazon forest, say's "Here ye Hear ye" " Don't worry, we're all in this together".

The prison I work in has like 150 inmates that were positive as of yesterday. The scary part is the state of ohio not issuing the proper ppe to the staff. The prison population is about to explode with positives in the coming week. I think half the staff are going to end up positive also.
Being overweight, having high blood pressure, and some minor heart issues, and a daughter that has really bad asthma, it’s got me scared to go to work. Got tested 3 days ago still waiting for the results.

Prayers for your sister Jay, and for you as well Frenchie.
Frenchie, My brother works at the Mahoning County jail, and I understand exactly what you're facing. I pray you stay safe.

Things are so messed up I’ve thought seriously about quitting and cashing in my 28 years in OPERS, $214,000. But losing 30 percent of that makes me really think hard. Serious stress going on. A job just isnt worth it, if I die I die, but I don’t want my wife and kid to die.
