I think there will be a trade down. Maybe we could trade down and draft Cory Colman again.

How about
Our 2nd round pick and Kareem Hunt for Jamal Adams
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

If all of the tackles we rate high enough and Simmons are off the board at #10, then I'm all for trading down.
In fact, if we trade down once, I hope we trade down at least twice. Drop to the late, late 1st round and still grab a quality player and also add a couple extra 2nd round picks. I'm all for that.... IF there isn't a suitable/acceptable player to take at #10. This isn't 2016, or even 2018. We don't need a rookie class with 14 kids in it.
Browns is the Browns

I love how people on here attack and think that a difference in opinion makes you not a fan or having a motive. I just try to create conversation about the draft, trades or FA. In this case it was about drafting a player that I think doesn't deserve a 1st round pick and found information to support that stand. That said, here's a number of concerns about Ezra Cleveland from many different sources. As you will see, almost every one of them say the same thing - he's raw, needs to increase his strength, and is "NOT" ready to start in the NFL. Anyway, here's the following: Ezra Cleveland isn’t going to go undrafted. In fact, he should be off the board before Saturday. He is widely considered a mid-round prospect and has been mocked as high as the late first round, but mostly in Rounds 2-3. (insidethestar.com) Cleveland has a powerful punch, but his overall functional strength needs to be brought up to the NFL level. He doesn’t have the leg drive to dig out the defensive line and create movement in the trenches, so he mostly relies on his initial punch to open up a gap. He looks a little stiff trying to frame blocks when defenders don’t try to square him up. Cleveland can be challenged by length and power and has to work on his reactive hand technique to not lose leverage. Coming from the Mountain West Conference, the level of competition is always a concern when handling elite NFL athletes. (247sports.com) Rated 7th OT in draft. Ezra Cleveland, Boise State, 6-6, 311 (second round): A very good athlete. He moves well for a big man, but needs to get stronger in order to hold up in the trenches in the NFL. (ajc.com) While smooth in his pass sets, Cleveland does not offer elite initial quickness for a tackle and doesn’t play quite as athletic as he tested. Will be exposed timing the snap to be in position to stonewall edge rushers at the next level. Doesn’t quite have the second gear and length to recover if beaten off the snap. Showed improved hand placement and strength in 2019 but still needs work in this area, spraying his hands too high, low and outside. If moved to guard, needs more nastiness in his finish, too often seeming satisfied with a stalemate. (fieldlevelmedia.com) NFL Draft Odds: Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs (+100) leads the field, but narrowly so, with Louisville's Mekhi Becton (+250), Alabama's Jedrick Wills Jr. (+275), and Georgia's Andrew Thomas close behind. Here are the odds for the first OL selected in the draft and the best value play: (thescore.com) PLAYER ODDS Tristan Wirfs +100 Mekhi Becton +250 Jedrick Wills Jr. +275 Andrew Thomas +850 Josh Jones +2500 Austin Jackson +6000 Ezra Cleveland +6000 Based on his tape, I would not consider Cleveland until at least Day 3 because of his lack of strength and questionable level of competition. But because of his athleticism, I think a team will draft him on Day 2 with hopes that he can be coached into a starter. ( www.hogsheaven.com) The reason Cleveland is not regarded as one of this draft's best offensive lineman is that there are question marks regarding his strength and anchor at an NFL level. He's certainly not one of the strongest, and might not even be considered NFL-ready by some teams. Cleveland will certainly struggle against the bull rush in the NFL at his current stature, and the Browns don't need Baker Mayfield's blindside unprotected for yet another season. (dogpounddaily.com) Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: “Athletic left tackle able to make all outside zone blocks in the run game, but in dire need of additional mass and functional strength. He plays with patience and technique but lacks base width and contact balance. Cleveland has the athleticism to play swing tackle for a zone-based offense but needs to get much stronger to hold up as a starter.” Kyle Crabbs, Draft Network: “Ezra Cleveland projects as a developmental OT prospect in the NFL. He’s got the movement skills to eventually become a starter, but as is here’s currently too raw to offer consideration for early playing time. Cleveland needs to focus on gaining functional strength and improving his framing of blocks and ability to finish. Cleveland’s movement skills offer promise but the test will be whether or not he’s able to maintain that mobility once he’s stacked extra muscle on his frame.” Charlie Campbell of Walterfootball: “In surveying six different teams, none of them had Cleveland graded as a first- or second-round pick. The teams were split, with three grading him in the fifth round and three grading him in the fourth round.” But his perceived lack of strength is why he should probably be moved down your draft boards if you have him rated among the top prospects. Cleveland’s lack of strength and length hurts him tremendously, as does his inconsistent hand usage and footwork. But the biggest problem with Cleveland right now is his mentality. Does he want to be a great player? Does he want to put in the work required to increase his strength? Does he want to win every single rep? And not just win, but dominate? Whichever teams drafts Cleveland needs to have a short-term plan in place for left tackle that doesn’t involve him, as forcing him into action early will likely end poorly. (withthefirstpick.com) Ezra Cleveland projects as a developmental OT prospect in the NFL. He's got the movement skills to eventually become a starter, but as is here's currently too raw to offer consideration for early playing time. Cleveland needs to focus on gaining functional strength and improving his framing of blocks and ability to finish. Cleveland's movement skills offer promise but the test will be whether or not he's able to maintain that mobility once he's stacked extra muscle on his frame. (thedraftnetwork.com) Despite the impressive result in the bench press, strength is not a trait that Cleveland can hang his hat on. At least it doesn’t appear so on tape. His game is all about his athletic ability, and mobility. You worry about his ability to move people at the next level in the run game, and whether or not he has enough strength to handle the powerful bull rushes he’ll likely see a lot of at the next level. (NFL Draft Scouting Report) Bleacher Report's Matt Miller has Cleveland ranked as the 10th-best offensive tackle in the 2020 class. That puts him more in the Round 3-4 area than a first-round pick, which means the Browns could be reaching. ESPN's Mel Kiper has Cleveland going No. 58 overall in his latest mock. Peter King of NBC Sports reported Browns management loves the Boise State product, highlighting him as a possibility in the second round. The Browns have the No. 10 overall selection and could target a more highly regarded option like Georgia's Andrew Thomas, Alabama's Jedrick Wills or Iowa's Tristan Wirfs. There is going to be a major concern with Ezra Cleveland when it comes to his strength and power because of the issues he had there in college and the jump in those areas at the NFL level. (si.com) Although the Chicago Bears currently have two starting tackles, this should not stop them from drafting a tackle should the opportunity present itself. One tackle that has upside as a developmental prospect is Ezra Cleveland. Cleveland is not worth drafting in the second round, however, if he falls to when the Bears pick in the fourth or even farther, Pace should pull the trigger. (beargoogleson.com) Ezra Cleveland: Inconsistent, sloppiness in technique, will overset in pass pro, leans into too many blocks, tends to panic in space, chases blocks too often, must improve functional strength, recovery isn't great, too high-hipped. Projected Rd 3-4. (@MrSisemore) Dallas Cowboys

Sorry bro, wasn't trying to attack you, but when you present info that very obviously isn't true (in this case, that the report was an actual Patriot's scouting report), you will get called out for it. That's why you should always post a link.
This board has enough wild opinions on here; we don't need false information even further muddying the waters.

The way you posted it made me believe it was a leaked scouting report from the actual Patriots organization. I took it the same way, but with that said, I'm willing to give Steve the benefit of the doubt that he thought he was posting an actual Patriots' scouting report. I don't think he was trying to mislead. People make mistakes sometimes, and we should try not to jump ugly on newer posters. Or older ones, for that matter.

I wonder if Joe Thomas would work w/our new LT? Let's say we do draft Cleveland. Joe could really help him w/his technique and also show how to overcome a lack of brute strength. I am all for it, but Joe isn't a coach, not that he couldn't be. As you know, coaching has to be a daily thing. You are trying to instill a technique and develop muscle memory in a player. Showing up for a practice or two can't hurt, but it probably isn't going to have any permanent impact. I'd make Joe the O line coach if he wanted the job, but that just isn't his personality. If I could pay him to hang for 6 weeks of camp, I would do that. You can't learn Judo from a book. You learn it on the mat.

I have no doubt that it was an honest mistake and he actually thought it was the Patriot's scouting report based on his post. But there is one thing that all new posters must learn: research your sources, and always post a link to your source or credit them.
I've been reading this message board for probably close to 17 years (over half my life!). While I enjoy reading everyone's opinions, I mostly come here to read up on all the Browns news stories and analysis that others have already looked-up and posted (one stop shopping for everything Browns-related).
I don't post too much, but I really enjoy reading. I'm sure many others are the same way (and even a bunch of lurkers who never post at all or don't even have a username), and look to this site for Browns information. Therefore, it is very important to have your facts straight and post your sources so people are not misled and have all the info they need to make up their own minds and opinions.

I have said this for decades.........This is a public forum and I think it's real important to not make things up, plagiarize, or intentionally deceive others just to win some stupid argument.
Opinions are different. One can say whatever the hell he/she wants if they say something like "I think," or "I wonder," or "in my opinion," etc, etc.
But, it's wrong to state things as fact when they are just your opinions. Or, if you take credit for what others have said w/out citing them. I'm okay w/folks saying......"I read somewhere..." I have done that myself when I can't recall the actual article, but I really try to not do that very often, because I can see how others would misuse that technique.

I've been watching a lot of Ezra Cleveland. I think his issue has to do with his hands/grip strength. He's bench press strong, but he doesn't really exert it well. His hands glance off defenders a lot. I'm not sure if it's something he can improve with technique through better placement or it's something he'll always struggle with because of smallish hands. I don't really see him latch onto his man. He slides off frequently. His athleticism lets him keep his body on people, but he's missing out on a lot of leverage because he doesn't keep his arms/hands engaged.
I see it as a fatal flaw as is. I don't know if it's really correctable or not. People get into his body too much. I think stronger more technically sound players will be able to exploit it.

Yep, we both watched that video of Joe using hand placement. It was awesome. I think he is a viable resource and and I'm not as sure about this part, but I think he might be willing to help our guys w/their technique and also talk to them about what it takes from the mental and work ethic parts of the game.
I could be wrong...............and it is just an opinion...but I think Joe is viable resource.

j/c: Odell Beckham Jr. isn't getting traded on draft night or this offseason. Stop it.Charles Robinson Charles RobinsonNFL columnist Yahoo SportsApril 17, 2020, 12:18 PM EDT A little over two months ago, after the Cleveland Browns had run through yet another bleak winter gauntlet of firings and hirings, the newly cemented front office and coaching staff prepared itself. The NFL’s scouting combine was around the corner, and with it, the inevitability of fraudulent Odell Beckham Jr. storylines. By mid-February, scuttled Beckham Jr. rumors already seemed like they were back on the tracks and picking up steam. And it was happening before the first unified offseason step of the new Browns trinity had even been taken by general manager Andrew Berry, head coach Kevin Stefanski and chief strategist Paul DePodesta. The new regime surely didn’t want Beckham Jr. in the locker room. He was a John Dorsey relic that had to be dumped. Beckham Jr. didn’t really want to be in Cleveland, anyway. On radio and television — and in scattered corners of print and online media — one piece of speculation hooked onto the next. Almost to the point of fascination inside the Browns franchise because as far as the reshaped braintrust was concerned, none of it was close to representing what was actually going on. “I think we’re really in a good place,” a Browns source remarked in late February. “We’ve had some really good conversations. He knows how we feel about him. He’s going to be an important part of what we’re doing. And I think some of the problems in the past were resolved with the changes that were made [on the coaching and front office staff].” Cleveland is looking for quarterback Baker Mayfield to rebound from a rough sophomore season. (Nick Cammett/Diamond Images via Getty Images) Cleveland is looking for quarterback Baker Mayfield to rebound from a rough sophomore season. (Nick Cammett/Diamond Images via Getty Images) Odell Beckham Jr. is viewed as critical piece for Browns This is the conversation that resonates every time I hear that Odell Beckham Jr. is supposedly on his way out of Cleveland. It echoes for one reason: Whether it’s publicly or privately, the tune of the new Browns order hasn’t changed about Beckham. He’s valued by the organization and is considered a massively important (and healthy) part of the equation moving forward. And he’s not getting dealt this offseason. Not this week. Not during the NFL draft. And not before stepping onto the field in 2020 and showcasing what he can do for an offensive head coach who is universally more disciplined and prepared than his predecessor. That’s what Stefanski represents. Someone who can handle the pressure of his position and navigate relationships with players who demand opportunities to be a bigger part of the solution. That’s Beckham — a significant part of the solution that you don’t trade. A guy who helps get a humbled-but-highly-motivated Baker Mayfield back into his 2018 groove. A guy who energizes a cast of offensive additions in 2020 that should get even stronger in the upcoming draft. A guy capable of getting healthy and then showing why you don’t throw away superbly talented players — especially when they had a legitimate gripe about the underlying failures of the previous coaching staff. And not only is he wanted, but he’s necessary. He is one of the key cogs that helps Cleveland realize all the mismatch issues that Stefanski’s offense is capable of presenting. A scheme that will thrive on packages featuring two tight ends or two running backs, buoyed by a pair of playmaking wideouts on the outside. Not since Beckham was turning the league upside down early in his career with the New York Giants will he be in a scheme that suits him so well. Dealing Beckham ‘does not make a whole lot of sense’ This is why the Browns are getting frustrated with the constant flow of Beckham trade rumors. Like the one that speculated the Dallas Cowboys would come after Beckham after hiring his longtime NFL and college receivers coach, Adam Henry (never mind the Amari Cooper extension Dallas was working on). Or that the New England Patriots would engineer a move to add Beckham for Tom Brady (uh, whoops). Or that Beckham would “welcome” a trade to the New York Jets or San Francisco 49ers, but also might be a trade target for the Green Bay Packers or Philadelphia Eagles. And just for good measure, former NFL linebacker Bart Scott insisted at one point that Beckham was absolutely on the trade block — then backed it up with zero evidence. That was just February, by the way. We weren’t even quarantined into a state of boredom yet, which means this nonsense was almost certainly going to get worse before it got better. It’s how we got to a Minnesota Vikings trade report this week that was described right down to the details of what compensation was being discussed. Except that it didn’t happen. The Vikings hadn’t made a call. They hadn’t taken a call. They didn’t even know it was a thing until reporters started reaching out to sources in the organization. That’s pretty much what the Browns confirmed Thursday. “In short, I will just say it was completely false,” DePodesta said about the phantom Vikings trade offer. “It is frustrating a little bit, obviously. I think it is pretty clear what we are trying to build at this point. We have done an awful lot in free agency. We are excited about what we have a chance to do in the draft, and we are really building around a core of players that we think have a chance to be a championship-caliber core. The idea that we would take away from that core at this moment just does not make a whole lot of sense and is really not something that we are exploring at all. It is completely false.” That’s about as blunt as the Browns can be, short of delivering the dangerous, zero-wiggle declaration that media members all clamor for (including me, at times). Something along the lines of “We aren’t trading this guy for anything, ever.” It’s a ridiculous expectation that is often use to prove a hollow “BUT THEY DIDN’T SAY NEVER” response. Let’s be real here. Brady left the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month. Todd Gurley is an Atlanta Falcon. Philip Rivers is an Indianapolis Colt. And neither Cam Newton or Jameis Winston can get a starting job anywhere in the NFL. The idea of “never” in this league has pretty much been incinerated. But the Browns are as committed to Beckham as they can be, both publicly and privately. They aren’t making calls. They aren’t soliciting them, either. That’s how it was before the combine. That’s how it is now. And that’s how it will be when the draft kicks off next week. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/odell-beckh...-161847824.html

As an intelligent a summary as you could find. I'd say it's pretty fair to think the expectation is to build around what we have and what we have is expected to win "now".
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I agree that to this point that seems to be the clear direction. The draft will give us a better insight moving forward.
Right now we are in need of top skill at a few spots. Watching to see if they concentrate on top talent or just collecting bodies in the draft will be another piece of the puzzle. That doesn't mean that any trade down would indicate that. A few spots here and there in either direction certainly doesn't mean that to me.
But we have seen scenarios where we have opted for bodies over talent and it ended terribly. That's not where we're at from a team and talent standpoint right now. We were left in a sold position talent wise with less than a hand full of pieces still needed.
I have little doubt that's the way this FO sees it too. In a few days now we'll know more.

Trading OBJ at this point would be downright foolish just from a talent standpoint. Also, if he were to be traded it would have a negative ripple effect in the locker room. From what we've read and been told OBJ has been a good teammate and locker room presence. We don't want another Joe Haden incident. That trade seemed to demoralize the team. At this point, OBJ is too valuable to trade. JMO

Maybe he just wants to play better here, healthy, and light it up with the talent we believe we have with more responsible coaching this year. I am ordering another pitcher of Kool-Aid. Again. If this is a Bizarro-type of season, it might just favor us. I am having trouble imagining what that would have to look like, but the itchy little hunch still nags me a bit more than I care to admit. Hope I am right for a change . Stay safe, dawgs!

Jaguars have had trade discussions with other teams regarding RB Leonard Fournette, league sources tell ESPN. Fournette is due $4.16 million in base salary in 2020. It's a situation that bears watching as this week's draft approaches.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter What can they get? I would say a fourth round pick is optimistic.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Dorsey got a 3rd round pick for Duke despite a lot of drama, and yet, people say things like it's laughable that people think Dorsey did a good job.
Go figure.

Go figure. Getting a third round pick from BOB is like getting a 12th round pick from every other GM.

Its probably a bad idea for players to run their mouth about their team's personnel decisions, but if he was going to opine on it he should have said they should sign Jameis Winston, not Cam Newton. I watched the Browns vs Carolina game from 2018 again today, and I was reminded what I thought when I first watched that game - Cam can't throw anymore. The foot problem last year masked the reality - IMO - that his shoulder is shot. Jax should be looking at Jameis, not Cam. I think the only reason he's not a Patriot is that NE has no cap space. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Winston end up with Pitt.

Dorsey owns Corbett, Harrison, Callaway....a big miss on guard, and two character issues gone. Plus paying a huge fee for OBJ which so far hasn't worked out....he did some REAL good, but he missed quite a bit also....and Kitchen's mentioned last...that was a disaster I didn't see coming....GO Browns!!!
