At the end of the press conference, after Pelosi has spoken thoroughly about her legislative priorities, another reporter brought up the sexual assault allegation from Tara Reade against the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. The Washington Examiner's Kerry Picket asked whether Democrats had a different "standard" for Biden than for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, for whom Democrats were demanding an FBI investigation over an alleged assault when he was a teenager.

"I respect your question," Pelosi told the reporter. "I don't need a lecture or a speech."

That's the strange thing about perception. Both the DNC and the RNC have a vast amount of resources with which to crunch the numbers and give candidates the best advice on which running mate would give them the best chance to win the presidency.

You, on one hand, call that, "Doing what the party tell him to do."

Some would say it's "Biden using the party resources to give him the greatest advantage to win the presidency".

I'm pretty sure Trump had never heard of Pence until right up to the point that the RNC gave him the name.

I mean the RNC sort of screwed the pooch on Sarah Palin but nobody is perfect.

I still think Biden will get benched and we'll be voting for somebody else in November. BUT if he is going to pick a VP under the current circumstances and improve his chances of winning, that pick should be Bernie.

It's the only move that unites the left and can allow him to go back on his promise to name a woman given the change in circumstances. Trump must be removed above all else, but you won't do that with a divided left. Working class people hurting financially on both sides like Bernie's financial ideas better than ANY other candidates for handling this emergency. Period.

Biden won't get "bounced". But I'm sure you still have someone esle in mind for the job.

Whoever his pick is it will most certainly be a tactical move to solidify the most needed voters. That would be the female and black vote. Bernie accomplishes neither of those goals.

You're still convinced that trying to bring the fringe in the fringe of progressives is more important and critical for a win than bringing in the Independent vote. Most of those who voted for Bernie will still vote for Biden. Only the spoiled among them throwing a tantrum will refuse to.

Independents are one third of all voters. So we certainly disagree.

I believe Vice President Biden deserves due process before he is convicted in the media or court of public opinion. Yes, women should be believed and they should be heard. Let the facts dictate. Not the mob.

That is how Kavenaugh should have played out and that is how Biden's accusation should play out. Let the facts decide.

My only reservation about Ms Abrams is that she has precious little legislative experience... a fact that could hamper her chances with insiders.

Other than that, I can't imagine what other negatives she might carry that would make you say what you did.

She's bright, driven, principled- and not afraid to call things and people out for what and who they are. Her efforts to fix the (purposely) 'broken' electoral system are signing up new/lapsed voters at a record pace, despite the oppo's best efforts to continue the "status quo that dates back to Crow."

She's young, plugged-in, down for the fight... and has a ton of "earned cred."

Biden has repeatedly vowed that his pick will be female AND bridge the generational divide within the party.

My personal choice from the talent pool I mentioned is Susan Rice. Look up some of her interviews from the last 3-5 years, and you'll see why. You know me well enough, bro- you'll see why she appeals to me as soon as you settle in for a session or two with her.

This might be Biden's biggest professional decision, providing he survives this latest turn of events.

Guess we'll see what's what soon enough.

Stacey Abrams has never done anything wrong that I'm aware of but she just does nothing for me enthusiasm wise. I like Kamala and Susan enough to not care if they are selected but all Abrams has really done beyond her activism is lose a big election. That doesn't sit well with me personally and something about her grates on my nerves, no idea what it is. Might have something to do with me seeing her talk down about Bernie during the primary.

I heard biden say he would pick a woman, not a woman of color, although he did not rule that out. I'd like to see Katie Porter considered. She's not a person of color but is a fighter for the people and a damn brilliant one at that.

Just watched the Biden interview on morning joe. He asked the national archive to search for her complaint and release it if it exist which made him look innocent as he claims. BUT then Mika asked him to do the same for his record archives a university... He didn't see the 'sense in that' since those records are of his positions on topics, speeches, private conversations with Obama and other leaders of state... Mika then asked to do a search for just Tara Reade's name and Biden acted like that confused him since he had already explained the record would not be there... He refused to attack Reade or her character, said she should be listened to and the allegation investigated, and that he had no idea why she was making the allegations; he repeatedly brought up the 27 years that have passed since the alleged incident. Biden was absolutely adamant that he did not do this and that nothing like this ever happened.

Personally, I think this needs further in depth investigation. I was leaning toward believing Reade's recount of events in the allegation based on detail and others corroborating her story. But I have to admit Biden showed no real signs of guilt nor serious concern that any guilt could be proved regarding the allegations. I think he handled the interview well, without coming across as irate or otherwise disturbed by the topic with exception to seemingly being confused by why Reade is making the allegation again tying it to lapsed time. So now, I feel leaning toward believing Reade's recount may be jumping the gun a bit since Biden seemed credible in his denial as well.

I honestly thought before watching that I would be posting about thinking he was guilty this morning. I thought he might crack or show signs of guilt, cover up, or fear of in depth investigation. I was surprised he handled it so well given his recent mental gaffes. Now I'm not sure who is lying, Biden or Reade.

How did anyone "rig things" for Biden? Are you now suggesting that the moderates deciding to collectively drop out and endorse a single moderate candidate to go up against Bernie is "rigging" an election? Since when did sound strategy become an evil thing to you? Because the fact is that more people who voted in the Democratic primaries chose a moderate rather than a progressive. Isn't that how the process is supposed to work?

I watched the Kavenaugh hearing. I didn't think anything was proven. My takeaway is that his demeanor and temper made him unworthy of the SCOTUS seat. I want every member of the SCOTUS to be level headed and be able to keep emotions out of things. That's not what I saw with him.

I fully understood that we would have a conservative judge and that's the price of losing elections. But someone more level headed and less emotional would have been my preference.

But yes, I always feel the accused should be investigated and that the results of that investigation is the answer. Anyone who feels that it's worth the time to dig through the archives and look can see this is exactly my comments concerning Kavenaugh.

The actual answer to that question will not be your desired result.
