Howard Stern says Trump should resign out of patriotism

Howard Stern on Wednesday said President Trump should resign from office amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I do think it would be extremely patriotic of Donald to say, ‘I’m in over my head, and I don’t want to be president anymore,’” Stern said on his SiriusXM show on Wednesday in comments first flagged by the New York Daily News.

“It’d be so patriotic that I’d hug him, and then I’d go back to Mar-a-Lago and have a meal with him and feel good about him because it would be such an easy thing to do," the 66-year-old added.

The self-proclaimed "King of All Media" and "Private Parts" star also claimed the president despises his own supporters.

“One thing Donald loves is celebrities, he loves the famous,” Stern said. “He loves it. He loves to be in the mix.”

“The oddity in all of this is the people Trump despises most, love him the most,” he added. “The people who are voting for Trump, for the most part ... he wouldn’t even let them in a f---ing hotel. He’d be disgusted by them. Go to Mar-a-Lago, see if there’s any people who look like you. I’m talking to you in the audience.”

Trump was once a frequent guest on Stern's program. He sat down for marathon interviews dating back to the shock jock's days in New York terrestrial radio, and the two maintained a friendship for decades.

The relationship quickly soured after Trump's 2016 presidential victory, with Stern becoming increasingly critical ever since. Stern endorsed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, and he's endorsed presumptive Democratic nominee former Vice President Joe Biden in 2020.

Trump sits at 51 percent approval in a poll conducted by The Hill and Harris X released Tuesday.

Stern and Trump have history and it's hilarious.

I certainly agree with you. But then again, people listen to Trump and that's really no better.

But white militiamen holding armed protest is important... I mean Howard stern isn't famous with a large audience that might in large part agree with him. I agree with him wholeheartedly! Anything meant to rid us of Trump is a great idea, even if it doesn't work.

Yes, even the rag newspapers like the NYT and the WAPO understand that one is news and one is an opinion... even their own paper has it's own little section for opinion articles, which are generally disregarded on this site because they are just somebody's opinion...

Anybody holding an armed protest at a state capital to reopen their states economy (or for any reason) is newsworthy.. it's an actual event that happened.

Every celebrity has an opinion... none of them are newsworthy. You only think they are newsworthy because you agree with most of them.

Many of his loyal followers were not able to afford the subscription price for the satellite radio. He made gazillions of dollars but lost many of those loyal followers.

The way I see it he's no less honest or scummy than Trump is. People have just chosen to believe one scum bag over the other one. You can read it in the responses.

Howard Stern is an excellent interviewer, far better than most of the people at Fox or CNN or any of the other places where people get paid 7 figures to be professional interviewers.. the guy does really well constructed and executed interviews with celebrities and some political types...

I respect him for that... outside of that, his opinion is just another opinion...

He IS a good interviewer.

I rarely hear his interviews because the rest of his show isn't enough to hold my interest. "Shock jocks" have limited appeal for me. I also don't have Sirius, but I never really followed him when he was on FM, either,

I don't listen to him much either (even though I do have Sirius) but my wife does and she will direct me to good interviews that I might find interesting.
