My family moved to this country in 1848, and settled in Dayton, OH. It was not a slave state. Some of them fought for the Union in the Civil War.

Seeing as the democrat party was the party of slave owners and slave states, why don't they pay reparations?

You are terribly misinformed about the status of most Native Americans. Untold numbers were murdered. Untold numbers were displaced. The majority of the remaining Native Americans are living in the most extreme impoverished environments that one can imagine.

I just highlighted the fact that because of their status, they had casinos finance other operations to grow.

Obviously I wish way more of their income went toward building up the reservations more, as some of those places resemble slums, but they did get to own and operate casinos and do get free college, I believe.

Japanese Americans also get reparations after WW2, and their plight wasn’t anywhere close to black or Indian Americans.

If you have 1 billion dollars, and spend $1 per second, every second, it would take ~32 years to spend. As a trillion is 1000 billion, it would take ~32000 years.

I've made similar comments before, but I question the validity of how people really feel about exploitation and the unfair treatment of groups.

I think picking and choosing which groups to support is pretty lame. I also wonder how closely aligned those thoughts are to what is politically and/or socially in vogue.

No one gives a damn about the Native Americans and many folks don't give a damn about what's happened to Hispanics. I say beware of those who only support the rights of blacks and gays because deep down, they are only paying their listeners lip service.

618,222 men died in the Civil War, 360,222 from the North and 258,000 from the South — by far the greatest toll of any war in American history.

How's that for reparations. 360K soldiers from the North died fighting to essentially abolish slavery.

I think only taxpayers south of the Mason-Dixon line should pay reparations.
