Trump probably thinks you can invoke that using U.S. Marshalls. Shhh... don't tell him.

IMHO Trumps entire reaction the last few days was fear driven because the protesters were too close to the White House. His bible prop photo op, the bunker boy episode, threats to unleash the military on Americans... it all fits the narative of Trump being a scared little man. He knows he's toxic and people hate him.

Seems the violent protests are calming down with less burning and looting now that the weak Democrat Governors and Mayors have listened to our President and dominated the protests with law enforcement.

People are back to talking about kneeling and such.

There is even more talk about George Floyd again.

Who da thunk it?

Yep, it has nothing to do with Keith Ellison charging all the officers involved. Man you are a piece of work. Trump is a complete failure, he did nothing to help the situation and you can not see that. I feel sorry for you.

While never being able to admit it - I am 100% certain that 40, regardless of what he posts, knows that in this moment when the country needed leadership, Trump failed in the worst possible way.

Wrong again...
most of the protests in the first few hours of each night have all been peaceful..even the first couple days; it is later in the night or overnight that the mayhem/looting starts-or when the the sides start clashing-violence breeds violence

I have watched very little of Fox, MSNBC, CNN the last week and a half, I have been listening to local scanners and then going place to place to watch local tv coverage or live copter coverage/web feeds.

What has changed in most areas the last couple days...

the charges against the officers..

the protesters working with city leaders/black leaders/religious leaders to actually try to come together with a solution

many cities have established curfews..even as early as 7 pm to get people off the streets as dark approaches.

In different areas the groups seem to be self policing themselves.

Also, some of the different police scanners have said that the city or the police leaders are working with protest organizers to let the police know where they are walking, where they are to protest so the police block the streets to let them walk and then the police still have to do their job to protect property

and by no means are the protests just dwindling away and these people going home in their bunker to wet themselves. In many areas, since trump pulled his stunt on June 1st at the church, the protests in DC have gotten bigger.

Other cities-
last night, in Portland Maine, it was the largest protest with over 10,000 people according to scanner.

Seattle-it seems to be getting bigger every night.

In Boston last night or the night before-3 or 4 groups came together and their numbers so completely overwhelmed the police that they had to get other response teams and police on horseback out just for crowd control

Asked My Father once why he became a cop. I expected one of his pithy, insightful statements. Here was his answer:

"I needed a job. I'd just been laid off from BLH, and had to find work. I took the civil service exam and passed. LPD job came up before fire, streets, or anything else."

There will always be folks looking to take those jobs. The difference between My Pops and this bunch was this: he was part of The Greatest Generation... and didn't whine or stomp his feet because of perceived 'disrespect.'

They really don't make'm lie they used to.

My grandfather was part of the Cleveland Police Department upon return from Berlin in WWII.

Two things he has never elaborated on while asked are experiences from those times. We only knew for the longest time that he eventually switched to traffic work and security for Browns games during his tenure.

One day my sister and I visited him. We got on the subject of jobs and he opened up about a car chase he got involved in. He was quite shook from it and didn’t seem to hold his partner in high regard. We got the feeling he didn’t want to talk about it more, and we haven’t asked since. Even my aunts and uncles don’t know too much either outside of the car story we were told.

I suspect my grandfather, one of a few people who I have never heard anything racial from in my entire life, saw the rampant issues in police work. Im glad he got out of it and I’m glad your father was on the good side.

When I was in HS, the CoP was black. My Father was 2nd in command. LPD had 2 black Lieutenants, 2 black Sergeants.

All got their jobs around the same time. All rose through the ranks.
The 70's were a time of real reform in my town. Police policy was rethought. Training was updated to reflect the new leadership, and their understanding of police/minority relations.

All of them are gone now. Retired. Expired.
My home town is now like 1956 again.

And so may you. If they wish to act like the cops that murdered George Floyd, we will be better off without them. People who wish to be above the law have no business enforcing the law.

When the weak Democrat mayor of DC allowed protesters and anarchists within feet of the White House, we knew we were being gamed. So Trump Security answered.

They were behind the barriers that were in place. But taking a picture with a bible meant their constitutional rights needed violating.

“When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in, rough, and I said, ‘Please don’t be too nice,’” Trump said.

“Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody, don’t hit their head, I said, ‘You can take the hand away, OK?’” he added.

He went on to say...

“For years and years, [laws have] been made to protect the criminal,” Trump said. “Totally protect the criminal, not the officers. You do something wrong, you’re in more jeopardy than they are. These laws are stacked against you. We’re changing those laws.”

He said this to a group of law enforcement in Long Island New York in 2017. Telling them they could rough people up before they were ever tried or found guilty of anything.

And the cops in the crowd applauded loudly.

Well, as someone on here has said, burn it down.

That will do no good, obviously. It will hurt the city like you can't believe, but the looters need to be heard, right?

Protesters are a different thing, of course.

But, don't call in the feds when you also bitch about the feds being called in.

And, in a few weeks, we'll be told how the feds failure to act contributed to the violence and destruction. Round and round.

Not really surprising at all. He's a lame duck mayor.

My buddy works out at the same Park Slope gym as DeBlasio and has described him as pretty dopey.

A lot of New Yorkers were dumbfounded he even attempted to run for President knowing it would be a failed attempt.

No doubt though, his handling of the death of Eric Garner at the hands of police were a major driving force of booing DeBlasio today.
