I know we are going to disagree on this and that's fine. I respect your views and opinions.
Let me preface Iam speaking from ignorance and frustration.

I always felt Dr.Acton had too much power too much authority. I think she over reacted.
Back in March I think she gave out a figure
Of 100,000 in Ohio had the virus or something like that
Later she retracted that number and said she was
"Guesstimating"

Mike DeWine it seems like went with whatever she
Told him.
But Just the fact that one person can totally
Decimate a state economy with a stay at home order and instute paramters for distancing is
Amazing.

Im in the minority.I'm not a fan of hers
I don't think she is a "hero"

**No offense Arch, maybe you weren't aware of Nino Vitale's background**

I would discourage anyone from taking anything Nino Vitale says seriously. He's deranged.

Nino Vitale intimated that Bill Gates created the virus in a lab to control food sources and the population.

Nino Vitale also compare Dr. Amy Acton (she's jewish) to a nazi dictator and globalist.

Nino Vitale has also claimed he's "darker than most in the black caucas."

There's plenty more for anyone that wants to view Nino Vitale's ignorant and false claims.

I'm not. I think she did a good job at helping to keep the deaths down in Ohio. You can find another job. You can't find another life.

I think it's odd how people can't seem to differentiate between a projection and a prediction.

Back in March when she made her "100,000 forecast", there had been no lock downs, no social distancing and people weren't wearing masks. One thing the health experts aren't is clairvoyant. They can not see into the future what measures will be enacted to lower the damage.

As such, they look at the current numbers, trends and conditions then make projections based on that alone. As those conditions change so does the projections. The fact that those in government listened to the experts to help hold those numbers down is a good thing.

Maybe we should concentrate on all of the recommendations they gave to help keep the death count down and thank God the death count never reached the heights it may have had we not listened. A projection is not a prediction. It's a warning of how badly wrong things can be if we don't take the precautions to prevent that.

And it worked.

Thankfully my state’s governor is cracking down. As of 6/24 masks will be required in all enclosed indoor public areas. Grocery stores, Home Depot, etc.
Its about time. I hope other governors start doing the same. If you don’t want to wear a mask to grocery shop or whatnot, order online or starve. I don’t want to hear you complain. Enough is enough.

With cases and hospitalization rates rising rapidly in many areas, the responsible people will act in responsible ways. Others not so much.

Although I know it's not "rumors" because we're here in STL living it, I have no links, the story hasn't broken yet.

My wife works at GM Wentzville Assembly. The plant has been pressured twice to close because of their Covid approach, lack of reasonable social distancing, and the rising number of Covid cases at the plant (twenty confirmed since mid-May).

Anybody experiencing symptoms that require testing must leave the plant, unpaid, until results are conclusive.

The news broke this morning that an employee reported symptoms and was allowed to stay on the job pending test results. He didn't want to miss work, and pay, because he was enjoying his new "cake" job on the Covid response team.

He tested positive. He's been greeting employees and handing out masks for three days since he reported symptoms.

36 employees walked out this morning. I'm sure the poop is about to hit the fan.

YOUR CORONAVIRUS ANTIBODIES MIGHT FADE AFTER JUST A FEW MONTHS
NEW RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THE CORONAVIRUS MIGHT BE EVEN MORE PERNICIOUS THAN WE THOUGHT.
BY DAN ROBITZSKI / A DAY AGO
After your immune system fights off a disease, conventional wisdom dictates that your body builds up resistance to it in the future.

Unfortunately, when it comes to COVID-19, the reality may be more complex.

The main way that the immune system builds up resistance is by producing antibodies, which are proteins coded to hunt down specific pathogens. Sometimes, these antibodies fend off disease for years. But The New York Times reports that the antibodies our bodies develop against COVID-19 can fade away in just two to three months — especially for those who had mild cases.

That poses a problem for governments that banked on developing herd immunity — resistance to future infections at a societal scale — in the absence of an effective vaccine or treatment for the coronavirus. It also suggests that doling out “immunity passports” will only complicate the situation as some survivors may gradually become vulnerable again.

“These data might indicate the risks of using COVID-19 ‘immunity passports’ and support the prolongation of public health interventions, including social distancing, hygiene, isolation of high-risk groups and widespread testing,” the scientists behind the study, published Thursday in the journal Nature Medicine, wrote in their paper.

It’s important to note several caveats. For one, the research involved a small number of participants — only 37 survivors who showed symptoms and another 37 who didn’t — so a larger study is necessary to gain more statistical certainty.

“Though this is quite a small sample size of patients,” Imperial College London immunologist Danny Altmann, who didn’t work on the study, told Agence France-Presse, “it is in line with some concerns that natural immunity to coronaviruses can be quite short-lived.”

Colorado woman tests positive for COVID-19 twice
Less than two months after testing positive for COVID-19, and two negative tests, a Lafayette woman tested positive again.

LAFAYETTE, Colo — A month 1/2 since her first time contracting the novel coronavirus, a woman in Lafayette found out she tested positive for COVID-19 — again.

Michelle Hart first developed COVID-19 symptoms at the end of April. Doctors administered a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PRC) test — commonly performed with a nasal swab for coronavirus. On May 2, Hart's results returned positive.

Since then, Hart said her symptoms have "come and gone" and two consecutive negative coronavirus tests led her to believe she was out of the woods.

"Even though I was still having some symptoms, I was told that, you know, I’m not positive," Hart said.

But the persisting symptoms worried Hart enough to stop by an urgent care and ask for flu and strep tests. The results of both of those tests came back negative. So, Hart was given yet another nasal swab test.

On Wednesday morning, the antigen test showed Hart was carrying the virus.

THREAD: Michele Hart lives in Lafayette, CO and was just admitted back into the hospital today after testing positive for COVID-19 a SECOND time. On May 2, a PCR (nasal swab) test came back positive after she started developing symptoms at the end of April. #9NEWS

"The physician assistant who owns the urgent care actually called me and just said she’s so sorry," Hart said. "She doesn’t know why I’m still positive, but I am."

Hart said during her first bout with the COVID-19, she never developed antibodies that could eventually fight off future infections. Doctors, like 9Health expert Dr. Payal Kohli, believe that could be why Hart was diagnosed a second time.

Hart said her body didn't develop either the IGM antibodies, which show the virus is still active, or the IGG antibodies that develop later on and allow health experts to know a person was once a carrier.

"With this woman not having mounted an antibody response, it is certainly possible that she developed a second infection or became reinfected," Kohli said.

Kohli said developing zero antibodies isn't common and reinfection is likely rare, but it is one of three possible reasons Hart tested positive on two separate occasions.

Another possible reason is that there's a chance the virus can become dormant and "learn how to live alongside your cells," according to Kohli. It may then also be able to reactivate later in life, like chicken pox.

The third possible cause could be that a patient hasn't completely cleared all viral particles.

"This virus is just so new, and we just don’t have enough data," Kohli said. "I really like to call this virus 'the wildcard virus' because it’s done so many things that have surprised scientists on so many levels."

Hart has since been hospitalized again for observation and more tests.

"My hope right now is that it gets taken seriously and that we can find some answers soon," she said.

As much as I love sports and can't wait to see the leagues playing again it may be a good idea to just cancel the MLB season and not finish the NBA and NHL "19-"20 seasons. It might be too soon to start. The College and NFL seasons could be delayed a month or 2 to see how things develop and go from there. Just seems too risky. JMO

Nice! It should be enjoyable. I'm so torn this year. I want to go more than ever but want to still stay safe somehow. I was originally going to California with my sister and we were going to hit up Yosemite but I don't know. May need to drive somewhere now.

I was looking at the OBX area. People need vacations now more than ever.

We're looking forward to getting away. We do Hilton Head quite a bit. Love it there. Last year we did a cruise w/ Royal Caribbean (glad that wasn't the 2020 planned vacation).

Sounds like that would a fantastic trip. I have not yet been to Yosemite, but I'll certainly take the family someday.

I have family in Orange Co., CA and they have been to Yosemite several times and absolutely love it there.

If you're looking for a place you can drive and not into the obvious beach scene, Traverse City in MI is a great place.

OBX is a laid back area where you can certainly keep your distance and relax.

Football? Football? We want to talk Football?

Sorry guys, I agree. This is a global, human altering event that isn't going away any time soon, if EVER.

Team sports are about done. We may still see some limited team sports like auto racing, and golf.

But those are going to change as well. They won't be played all over the country because players won't be flying. They will be driving, so all tournaments will probably he held in a limited area each year and scheduled in a manner where the players might only have to drive 200-300 miles on Mondays to get to the next event.

One season in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. The next in Arizona and California. The next in the mid-west or east. Maybe split seasons in half. 60 days on the road, 60 days to go back home to be with the family.

It's all going to change.

I wonder how much longer before we start to see MLB teams start to fold? Owners can't pay the money baseball players make without a revenue stream. No TV money, radio money, ticket sales.

How long are football teams going to be able to last without TV money and radio money? Billions of dollars in revenue or not, they face the same problems a small mom and pop diner, doing $40,000 a month in sales faces. There is a limit to how long you can survive before you have to shut it down and walk away.

I haven't really paid attention, are baseball teams still paying employees? You know, regular people like you and I, the people working in the ticket office or marketing, etc, or have they been laid off and collecting unemployment? There has to be a limit to how long teams can pay these people before there is no work to be done and there is no value in keeping them on the payroll. No different than Ford. If you aren't selling cars for whatever reason, you don't need to keep on a lot of auto workers. Pretty simple.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

You've kind of been on this warpath of extreme doom for months now. Let's see how this plays out. 2020 seems like a long shot for a lot of these sports, but we don't know much beyond that (and we don't even know that for sure just yet). A lot can change between now and the end of the year.

The majority of MLB teams are still paying their emplyees. I know the Indians agreed to pay their staff through the end of June. This was done back in late March/early April.

Sports will eventually be back, maybe not 2020. Vaccine or not, at a certain point damn near everyone will have gotten the virus.

MLB teams won't fold, there will always be a billionaire that would seize the opportunity to buy a struggling franchise. Minor League teams will be the teams you may see fold and/or really struggle financially.

MLS starts on July 8th.
Instead of having a regular season they are having a tournament World Cup style. All of their games will be held in Orlando.
Atlanta United talking about having "drive in watch parties" in one of Mercedes Benz Stadium's tailgate lots.

German soccer has been playing for a while.
Premier League soccer has started and is being played in all their various stadiums without fans.

If soccer can figure it out, then the rest of major league sports should be able to.

Maybe we should wait until players in every sports league quit coming down with the virus first?

Kind of hard for them to be playing while they have the virus.
