The Browns point out that Anderson has 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions in four games, and that two of his interceptions against New England were tipped. I got that from a article on the OBR... What they don't point out is my 5 year old can read a book better than DA can read a coverage
"If he completes those balls, then we're not talking as much about his inconsistentcies"
Sooooo tell me..does this sound like a coach ready to insert the future ... perhaps buying time for the starter right now?
hes keeping him from under the bus ... plain and simple .... he can talk about the first pas being tipped all he wants .. that ball was not "tipped" .. it was "DROPPED UPWARDS" .... *LOL* .. he threw that ball right to Samuels ..
and the 2nd one was tipped .. but it was only tipped cause he threw it a foot from where someone was standing .. *L*
THEY SEE THIS bro ... if we know it .. they know it ...
Shaff/Tuck and DA/BQ are night and day for MILLIONS of reasons ... there not even in the same ball bark so trying to make inferences from one situation to another is ludicrious IMO ...
U may very well maybe right that DA does stay in after the bye ... but I think your wasting time trying to infer anything from any of the "article quotes" U posted above ...
Crennel can Sugar Coat it all he wants...Anderson DID IN FACT cost us the chance to stay CLOSE with the Pats...
That AS USUAL Dumb Ass throw on 3rd and goal on the 1st drive...3-0 instead of 7-3 or 3-3...Then he follows it up with another one...10-0...It happened quick and it took alot of the wind outta the sails...
It's BS like that that highly contributes to losses...The NFL will NEVER blame one player for any loss...But Anderson's bad passes at times are hurting our chances to win...PERIOD...
He's killin' multiple drives with horrific passes He's missin' big plays by NOT SEEING the check down receivers...Specifically the Backs that are WIDE OPEN...
WHY are the Backs wide open???...Because Anderson's making the BAD DECISION to throw into double and triple coverages...THAT LEAVES SOMEONE OPEN...And he's missing them ALOT...He's just flat out NOT SEEING IT...He doesn't see the field well...Some of these throws into doubles and triples aren't even receivers in stride and a safety coming over...These recievers are STANDING THERE WITH THREE GUYS ON EM'...And he's STILL throwin' it...Makes me say WTF ANDERSON!!!!!!!!!!!
We have the hard part of the schedule behind us...We're right on schedule with what my Homerism prediction thought we needed to do thru the bye week pending an ASSumed win against Miami...This should damn near be a SHUTOUT...IF we lose this game we can bet the house that Anderson played a HUGE part in that loss...Giving Miami a short field with a stupid toss...Missing big play potential by throwing into those doubles and triples and leaving a wide open guy throwin' his hands in the air...
Then comes the final 10 games...IF we insert Quinn at the bye...AND WE SHOULD...You may not agree with this but we have a CHANCE AT A SPOT IN THE PLAYOFFS...The schedule is favorable...
WHY can we still have a shot???...Several reasons...
1) The AFC beyond NE/Indy/Pitt is less than stellar at this point...
2) Quinn will have a REAL OL in front of him...
3) Quinn will have some sense of a running game around him...
4) Quinn has weapons out wide including Winslow...
5) Quinn won't MISS a wide open receiver when he sees doubles and triples...(At least not as OFTEN as Anderson misses it...)
6) Quinn is more mobile than Anderson...Has better pocket presence...
7) Quinn WILL throw into double coverage periodically...He's a ROOK...But I'm confident in 2 things...
1) He will CORRECT it when he does it...
2) He won't do it as often as Anderson does it...
Quinn was deemed READY the day we made him the #2 QB...U don't make a QB a backup that's ONE PLAY AWAY if he ain't READY...In this case I think we HOPED we wouldn't need em'...And we haven't...We got lucky...
If they DIDN'T think he was READY they woulda started with an Experienced Dorsey as the 2...
Go Browns!!!

All good reasons. Let me add one of the biggest you forgot:
BQ will be MUCH more accurate on his throws than DA. Whether it's to a wide open receiver, one being double-covered, or JJ on a fade route, atleast these balls will be on target (ok, not every throw, but MUCH more often than with DA).
This is one of the biggest reasons I think we'll improve *immediately* when BQ takes the field.

jc..
One of the major factors when we first drafted Quinn, for not playing him, was to give the Oline time to gel so he doesn't get shell-shocked.
Well, I think the Oline has proven that they are average or better than average at protecting the QB in passing situations.
BQ will make all the throws DA makes, and make some of the ones DA doesn't make.
BQ need the game time, so next year we are focusing more on getting the new Dline(yes I'm being hopeful) up to speed, and just working out minor kinks in the offense. not waiting for the BQ growing pains to work themselves out, lets get them out this year.
If we were 4-2 or 5-1 going into the bye, I'd say let DA play, but reality is he is leading us to an 8-8 season at best. And I think Quinn can do that as well.
Who better to start Quinn against, other than a floundering team coming off a loss, who is also starting their backup QB for the first time. And missing a few pieces of what was supposed to be a top 10 defense going into this year, but is turning out to be a bottom 10 defense.

Let's assume you are correct about it being a Dumb Azz throw...(lots of folks agree by the way), there is still no guarantee that we would have scored a TD running it,, and there is still no guarantee that a field goal woudn't have been blocked..
See what I mean, you can't say it would have been this score or that score,,,

Or at least score points..the D should be the unit to stop the other team but we know thats not gonna happen often.. My point is that Rac I feel is going to protect DA as long as he can... Think about it..he sees the same things we do..but in here it seems logical to insert BQ SOON.. If Rac so much as shows inpatience with DA ..U know what comes next..the media will bite that bone and then we have another QB controversie.. "Rac is holding back Quinn" etc etc... So I think until they are ready to start the guy, Rac will shield DA... It's not the opinon of others in here that affect my thinking but I'm reading Rac and try to see how long they want to ride DA...maybe they've already determined it..I did remember Phil talking about the bye week about a few weeks ago.. Now my personal feelings..start DA against the Fins..A WINNABLE GAME I MIGHT ADD...if he continues to be a turnover machine and as inaccurate as some of these posters analisys in here yank him and put Quinn in there..St.Louis another winnable game is after the bye week..

Think Mike Pagel when you talk about DA.
I don't know why people on here want to put Mike down. He was actually a decent starter in this league. Not to mention agreat guy to work with.
I am not putting him down. I think Anderson is pretty much the same...especially when you consider his time of service.

While I'm excited to see what this offense will be with BQ. I have to believe that the coaching staff would know when he was ready.
Even though Chud doesn't make personell decisions, I would think he would start to emphasize putting in BQ in once he has the playbook down. He wanted DA over Frye if what we've read was right, I'm sure when BQ is ready hes gonna push for him to get the nod.
Even with an self admitted streaky QB, this offense has came to life. Kudos to Phil for bringing in Chud. (I don't think RAC had much to do with that hire). When he's ready BQ will complete some of the throws that get away from Anderson. I'm not knocking DA, hes a SOLID backup, but some of his throws just dont go where he wants them to.
The line gives DA time to step up and make the throws. BQ will get the same time, but I dont want him in if he doesnt know the plays. That would only hinder us.
BQ's doing exactly what he should be, practicing, sitting back and watching and learning from DAs mistakes. He can watch that film, and see what the coverages were, where the open man was, and use that later on.
I truthfully expect to see BQ vs Miami if its a blowout, if not...he'll be in after the bye IF he knows the playbook. If not, let him sit.
The only thing for certain he has on DA at this point is accuracy, no one can gauge whether or not his decision making is better or not. We havent seen him in a REAL NFL game yet.
When BQ comes in, I don't expect this offense to be much different. He'll have his missed reads, but will complete some of the throws that Anderson puts in the dirt. It'll balance out, but next year we might be a top 5 unit. Especially considering we're top 10 to this point and have played some tough defenses.

My problem with DA is the same issue I had since the beginning of the season.
The guy locks onto recievers and is grossly innaccurate. His decision making ability could definitely improve also.
What he does well is get rid of the ball and throw it hard giving our players opportunities to make plays they might not have made.
But let's not hide ourselves to the fact that DA is certainly the weak link on our offense. If our run blocking was a little bit better and we had a QB who wouldn't throw up these rediculously innaccurate passes our team would be even better. Braylon Edwards has played unbelievably and Winslow is the man. I've seen Edwards time after time catch balls that were no where near on-target. Many times he gets crushed after catching them because they're behind him or such. Let's just not cloud ourselves with the idea that Anderson might be a starting caliber QB in the NFL with the fact that the guys on our team have played really well.
Our team's better than we thought, especially offensively. I believe that other QBs could jump in this team's offense and do what DA has been doing. Win or lose week 6 against the Dolphins I want Quinn in.
Why????? Because he gives the team a better chance to win. This year or next. We have a better shot at making the playoffs with Quinn than DA and I think we'll be a better team for it.
Can anyone honestly say that everytime DA has the ball, we're not afraid of him throwing an int or doing something to screw it up? ( if you say that you have confidence in the guy then we must be watching the game from different angles) Because I am. He inspires little confidence for me, where as B-EZ and KW2 inspire tons. Whenever we make a good play I scream at the television to run the ball because god knows we're gonna get an interception real soon. DA puts up decent numbers but that's all they are, numbers.
That being said, I hope Quinn starts after the BYE Week against St. Louis. This gives him two weeks to prepare with the starters and time for the team to gel a little bit. We should be able to ride DA through Miami as 3-3 and hand the squad over to Quinn. With Chud's control over the situation, I'd feel fine doing that.

j/c I don't see any reason on earth (other than injury) to put your best player at any position on the bench. That being said who should be our starting QB this week? It's really very simple!
Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

nothing like a QB thread...
Is it time?
#1 for me is the fact the OL has kept DA clean - very clean. If they can do that also for BQ then I do not see any damage from bringing him in. Also I think the two most successful QBs to start their rookie seasons have been Marino and Payton Manning. Both of which have had good OLs (Colts drafted Glenn 2 years prior to Manning) and the proper environment to succeed.
Statistacally - DA has done well. But technically he has not been sound at all. 1. If he doesn't throw the ball in flow with his 3 or 5 step drops..he is lost and horribly inaccurate.
2. If he has to move and go on the run...he loses his feet and is horribly inaccurate.
3. I have never witnessed so many wide open WRs that we have had so far this season - just not suppose to happen like that in the NFL (Chud is impressive) but DA has been 50/50 on his accuracy to them.
4. I have seen some great catches so far - specifically from KW2 and BE...but even this past Sunday Carter wide open had to dive for a ball and then roll into the endzone. How often have you seen that over the years...I can't remember any and here this season it has happened twice!
5. I would hope that BQ has better touch with air under the ball than DA for some long passes but also touch passes like a fade route.
6. DA seems to be learning on the fly (if he learns) true BQ can also learn by DA's mistakes. But one of them is the Franchise QB.
I fear the piranha who will wait at every mistake of BQ and lambast him as a bust with any mistakes or any losses...why do I feel Peen to be one of the first...lol putting more pressure on the kid. That is the only negative for me.
I too feel we can have a better chance of winning with the kid over DA. And Preseason or not I loved the way BQ managed the 2 minute drill.
On the other hand. Considering our weapons and our OL - DA will continue to put up good to even gaudy numbers for the stats. Although I don't want DA to leave and would welcome him as our backup. But - with these Gaudy Stats along with a .500+ season DA would be hailed as a big time commodity. Somebody might offer us something good or as mentioned in another thread. He'll be a Restricted FA that we would offer a higher tender to and possibly receive a 1st rounder for him? I do covet a high draft pick for 08, I also covet getting into the playoffs.
Then if BQ just goes lights out and wins for us - it could be taken as DA is good and worth the picks its just for the Browns BQ is better.
Let DA light up the Dolphins and hope he puts up some gaudy numbers to finish with...Start BQ as planned or thought of as the plan by us simpletons - after the bye week.

Good Thread... IMO. I agree with some and as ususal disagree with some... Enough to side against you on this... BQ should sit as long as possible... There is no way to know whether he will come in and play better or worse than DA... I am not a DA fan, never have been... Facts are DA has played much better than anyone thought he would... Accept PS, & RAC and crew... The 0-line is still coming together, has room for improvement, the running game without JL is a huge ?. And what WR is going to step up for JJ. # 17 & # 80 have been solid. The offense is getting better, closer to where they will and need to be... And DA needs to be in the driver seat as long as he is playing well. He has made young QB mistake and will continue to because of his youth and who he is... DA has made many nice to outstanding plays reads and decisions as well. DA needs to be the starter for the forseable future... As long as he can viably hold on the the starting job. As long as he is making more positive decisions and plays than negative. No doubt BQ is the guy. I believe this young man is an outstanding human and football player. I liked the move & pick more than most know... He is the future QB for us without much question. I'd love to see BQ under center sooner than later... He may very well be ready from a play book, leadership and confidence stand point... Physically he has the skill set and size... He needs more time before he is throw into the middle of the coliseum... The more time this year he can sit the better... The long term benifits of being fortunate enough to watch, learn and grow before being thrown to the wolves are indisputable and invaluable. Very few NFL QB's have been able to come in right away to a situation like the Browns are in right now and win, have success, stayed healthy and become long term consistant productive players. So NO to BQ playing sooner than later... My preference would be to not see him playing more than spot duty for another 5/ 6 weeks minumum. We will all have the pleasure of watching him play soon enough. Hopefully for a very long time...

If I do, it will be like with Couch...it won't be for a few years into his reign.
Doesn't mean I won't point our some boneheaded stuff if it happens, just as you do...but when BQ finally takes over...he gets his 40 games or so...I mean unless we are all wrong and he is clearly screwing the pooch at some point the year after next.

Sorry Peen, but it's true.
You have earned your reputation as someone who loves the backup. Unless the QB is named Holcomb.

A bigtime comodity?
You MUST be joking!
Anderson is an open book. The only way he represents an even decent draft pick is if he's viewed as a starter, and he's not by anyone.
Let's not overinflate the value of yet another Browns QB, especially one that is riding the stats of the Bengals game. His turnovers and lack of NFL smarts makes him a pure backup, and teams know this.
He's a viable #2 for this team, but that's it. I do agree that putting the secondary tender on him makes sense, as we have the cap space, and everyone knows that a #2 that can win a game in this league is vital.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

he's been far more lucky than good up til this point ... and that will change .... the sooner he sits the better U all will think he is ... cause the more he plays the worse he will become ... he will be exposed for the bum he truely is ..
For most of the rest of U .... he is not going to be even a decent back up .. U can't have an INNACURATE, POOR DECISION making back up ... its just NOT a GOOD FIT ....

See, in the Bengals game he did... and in the Ravens game he did.. but in the Raiders game and Patriots game he didn't... Note the slight correlation between his decision making and our record.... Nobody wins and loses games alone but if DA made more good decisions than bad consistently, we'd win a lot more games than we lose... Maybe I'm oversimplifying, but thats just how I see it.

I know I didn't say he would be a decent backup ..just a backup because Phil will make the decision and I won't be shocked if they keep him..they like his PO...at least thats what they say..so it's not my call..I'm just prepared if they keep him on.

your not only way over simplyifing it .... your not accurately assesing the situation .. the Cinci game is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of that .... yet we won ..
he made MORE BAD DECISIONS and had MORE BAD PASSES than Good Ones ... and heres two plays that exemplify that ....
1. the TD Pass to Brey when he was all by himself ... he was ALL BY HIMSELF yet he had to LAYOUT and make a GREAT CATCH cause DA is so INNACURRATE ...
2. there was one ball that DA threw into triple coverage .. the ball looked like a pinball richocheting off of the 3 defenders there ..... where did the ball end up .... in breys guy laying on the ground ... *LOL* ..
U guys give him credit for "making plays" on both of those .. well those two OUTCOMES were good so u all just excuse and overlook what really happend ... and those two plays are just the tip of the iceberg ...
and thats what will and has KILLED HIM AND US ...
and lets not forget in the bungles game we had Lewis over 200 .... pretty good support there ...
after I watched the Bungle game I could not for the life of me figure out how he threw for over 300 and 5 TD's ... well I said it then and it holds true today .. he was WAY MORE LUCKY THAN GOOD ...
and thats why IF AND ONLY IF BQ IS READY .. HE GIVES US A BETTER CHANCE TO WIN NOW ...
all u guys wanna do is look at how the O is moving the ball and our record and take your hats off to DA ... well I;m gonna answer the question I asked Toad and he didnt answer me .. and this will be as unpopular as MOST OF THE STUFF I POST ON HERE THAT ENDS UP RIGHT ...
we are winning DESPITE DA as OPPOSED to because of him ...
Week 8 will hopefully = BQ TIME .... if not ... Good Luck Da and i hope u make me eat my words even though I know u have little to no chance of doing that ... cause at the end of the day .... IT IS WHAT IT IS ... and u are what u are ....

the Cinci game is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of that .... yet we won ..
he made MORE BAD DECISIONS and had MORE BAD PASSES than Good Ones ...
Sorry Diam, for as much as you accuse some of defending him blindly... this is the other extreme... You absolutely cannot, as a QB, put up 51 points, complete 60% of your passes, throw 5 TDs to 1 INT, and throw for 330 yards while making more bad decisions than good ones. I would say that is about as close to a physical impossibility as exists in sports.
Quote:
1. the TD Pass to Brey when he was all by himself ... he was ALL BY HIMSELF yet he had to LAYOUT and make a GREAT CATCH cause DA is so INNACURRATE ...
that's a bad throw, not a bad decision, I had not yet begun to address inaccuracy.
Quote:
2. there was one ball that DA threw into triple coverage .. the ball looked like a pinball richocheting off of the 3 defenders there ..... where did the ball end up .... in breys guy laying on the ground ... *LOL* ..
I know, I saw it... great play, great concentration by Edwards...
Quote:
U guys give him credit for "making plays" on both of those .. well those two OUTCOMES were good so u all just excuse and overlook what really happend ... and those two plays are just the tip of the iceberg ...
I'm not sure who "U guys" are because on the layout TD, I said the minute it happend that Edwards saved his arse because if he doesn't make that catch, it's a bad blown opportunity by Anderson... as for the other one... it should have just been an incompletion...
But then again, I'm not opposed to the highly paid catchers of the ball making a play to help out the QB once in a while, in fact I sort of expect it... I expect they will do their part to make Anderson look as good as possible and they will do their part to make Quinn look as good as possible.. that's their job.
Quote:
well I said it then and it holds true today .. he was WAY MORE LUCKY THAN GOOD ...
I'm not a big "I told you so" kind of guy, in fact I have better things to do with my time than remember who took what stand on a player or a coach or a game... However this board happens to be littered with "I told you so" people... so consider this fair warning... any time Brady Quinn throws a ball, which is touched by a defender but not intercepted or one in which our receivers have to make a great catch, be prepared to answer to those who will call it "luck"... Because they will come find you... I won't because I don't really care, but others will... and this is just my opinion, but you won't really have an answer for them... at least not one that's consistent with your critique of Anderson...
Quote:
and thats why IF AND ONLY IF BQ IS READY .. HE GIVES US A BETTER CHANCE TO WIN NOW ...
I agree, which is why I'm confused by who "U guys" are... because if I'm one of them, then so are you.
Quote:
all u guys wanna do is look at how the O is moving the ball and our record and take your hats off to DA ...
Actually I look at our record and get a bit ticked because if DA plays even halfway decent against the Raiders, we're 3-2 instead of 2-3.... However, I will give credit where I think credit is due and I think DA deserves credit for playing good games against the Bengals and the Rats... He even deserves some credit for his comeback effort against the Raiders even though we were down in large part because of his play.....
It just seems to me that you are going to find fault with anything he does.. I have stated many times how inconsistent he is and that his inconsistency will cost us games.. but when he plays a good one, I'm going to give him credit for it..... If you disagree, I'm ok with that too.

So true, yet it's surprising how often his efforts at the end of that game to put us in a position to win are forgotten...
People see what they want to see..,. nothing anyone can do about it. Thanks for being fair DC

No, we likely won't make it this year because of them, but that was fairly foreseeable even in preseason, and I think the primary goal and hope for this year was to truly compete, which we are doing.
If nothing else however, the true shame of it all is that while we may be better next year, it really is turning out to be a *really* easy schedule for us this year. If the D can turn it around a bit, we really do have a shot at things.

There is a couple of pieces missing on the D. Hopefully we can get them filled in FA...
What worries me most about that is that we may not be able to get the top tier Dlinemen. As always, they'll be at a premium,, everyone will want them..
Hey, can someone find a list of guys that hit the market in FA next year... I'd love to ponder that list.

It's because he started out horrible and put the offense in a hole..
Yes I stated that.. and he agreed with it. So did Tony Romo against Buffalo but in the end he helped his team win... If they would have lost it would have been pretty much his fault, but they won... so he gets as much credit as he deserves for the comeback...

Sorry Peen, but it's true.
You have earned your reputation as someone who loves the backup. Unless the QB is named Holcomb.
It really worries me you think this way.
Holcomb was better than Couch....pretty simple.....just as Quinn is better than Anderson.
It doesn't take anything special to figure that out.

You know what I think of DA... I watched DA in college and he is still dong the same wrong things with the same wrong results... Some times it's better to be lucky than good... This past month DA has been both... If this continues DA should keep starting. BQ needs as much time as he can get, for the good of all involved... YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE. You also know I'm not at all pleased with not having a proven veteran back up... For all the reason that have been shared on this thread and others... This is not a good decission by the FO or CS... I just don't want to throw this much talent and potential to the wolves too soon and tarnish the Golden Child... If DA bombs... Then let lets get our new stud rookie QB on the field and let the new Browns era begin... But not until DA looks like CF...

Yes, but Buffalo's offense did nothing to stop Dallas from coming back and winning, their defense & S/T did all the scoring.
Had Buffalo put up just 1 TD, Dallas would have had no chance. Or even made that missed FG. Not to mention throwing the ball with and 8pt lead and 5 mins to play, and prophetically getting INT and returned to Buffalo territory to setup a miraculous comeback victory + an onside kick.
Sounds like Dallas' defense and S/T is what got Dallas the victory.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

This is where U bang your fingers all the time..
Holcomb was just as shoddy as Couch..a career backup.. Quinn ..well it's yet to be seen, but he's not forseen as being a backup..DA is..

he made MORE BAD DECISIONS and had MORE BAD PASSES than Good Ones ...
diam...an exaggeration?....yep!
Is Anderson making rookie mistakes...yep...It's Anderson's first time starting in the NFL....in other words, we would likely get the same from Quinn...rookie mistakes.
diam..I know your bias won't allow you to recognize it but some of the mistakes Anderson is making are to be expected from any first time starter in the NFL.
Anderson has not been the disaster your trying to make him out to be.
Is he inaccurate at times...yep!...and his stats support that claim...
...Anderson has thrown 8 ints and is in a tie with Tony Romo ranked 31st in the league.
...Anderson's completion percentage is 52.2, ranking Anderson 32 in the NFL with only Alex Smith from SF lower.
BUT...lets look at the good Anderson has done...it's only fair...
Anderson ranks 19th in the NFL in QB rating with a rating of 80.5...average.
Anderson ranks 7th in the NFL with 1251 total yds passing while starting 4 games.
Anderson ranks 8th in the NFL in yards per attempt with 7.98.
Anderson ranks 3rd in the NFL with 11 TD passes.
Anderson is tied for 8th in the NFL in number of times sacked with 5...I give most of the credit to the Browns Oline, but it does show that Anderson does some escapablity and will throw the ball away rather than take a sack.
The Browns offense ranks 7th in the NFL overall, 9th in passing and 7th in scoring.
Diam...
Just to be fair and put Anderson's play in perspective...let's look at Peyton Manning's rookie year...
Manning's completion percentage in 1998 was 56.7...Anderson's completion is 52.2 in 4 starts.
Manning threw the ball 36 times per game his rookie year...Anderson is throwing the ball 35.3 times per game....I divided DA's attempts by 4.5 games.
Manning passed for 233 yds per game his rookie season...Anderson is passing for approx. 278 yds per game.
Manning averaged 6.5 yds per pass his rookie season... Anderson's average is 7.87 yds per attempt.
Manning averaged 1.625 passing TDs per game his rookie season...Anderson is averaging 2.4 TD passes per game.
Manning averaged 1.75 interceptions per game his rookie year...Anderson is averaging 1.77 ints. per game.
Manning was sacked 1.375 times per game...Anderson has been sacked 1.1 times per game.
Manning's QB rating for his rookie year (1998) was 71.2...Anderson's QB rating so far is 80.5.
Diam...would you expect Quinn to put up better "rookie" numbers that Peyton Manning did as a rookie?
I'm "not" saying Anderson is going to be another Peyton Manning".
What I am saying is it's too soon to bench Anderson in favor of our rookie QB.
after I watched the Bungle game I could not for the life of me figure out how he threw for over 300 and 5 TD's ... well I said it then and it holds true today .. he was WAY MORE LUCKY THAN GOOD ...
diam...You could be right about the "luck" issue. If Anderson's successes are due to "luck", we all know that "luck" runs out.
If Anderson's luck runs out, Quinn will get his chance to get on the field to show his stuff.
But, if Anderson continues to play well and the offense continues to score, it's going to be hard to justify sitting Anderson in favor or our rookie QB, Quinn.
The Browns could have another QB controversy developing.
The Browns are still trying to find out just how good Anderson is. The longer Anderson plays well, the higher his value goes but harder it gets for Quinn to get on the field.
I'm sure that Savage is looking at the future, knowing that Quinn will be our starter but wondering how Anderson is going to fit into the Browns future plans?

I wanted Holcomb over Couch. I stand by that.
Say what you want... 4 years later, Holcomb is still in the league. How many games has Tim played in since he left Cleveland?
It was not an issue of physical talent. It was an issue of mental stability. I think Palmer and Clark ruined Tim by rushing him into an expansion era lineup.

You conveniently forget that Couch has been injured since he left here, and Holcomb still stinks it up wherever he goes. Having said that, I'll say this:
That horse has turned to dust, let's quit beating it People!!

Again Merth, not giving the whole story,,,, Of course Couch hasn't played in any games, he's been out with that arm or elbow thing..
Most anyone that is out of the league at Tim's age are either out because of injury or they flat out can't play.. Tim ain't no Dan Marino by any stretch of the imagination, but gees,, he wasn't horrible either.. If healthy, I have to believe he'd at least be a better back up than a lot of guys in the league today.
