Depending on how you're approaching this, I think I agree with you.
I don't believe Democrats have the best interests of minorities on their agenda. I think they aim to provide however much lip-service is required to boost their election chances, and that's it.
But I don't see what that has to do with BLM, as it's a grassroots movement. All while trump supporters except police brutality and diminish black lives. Pffft trump and his supporters can go to hell. Whenever 40 or Riley talk about Trump Derangement Syndrome I want to laugh at them because it's ridiculous... but then you post something like this. Thanks for taking that away from me.

I have said this before. The extremists on both sides that are filled w/hate and bias do nothing but further the divide. I maintain that most people are not like 40, tasty, Riley, Perfect, Swish, Rocket, etc. I think most folks want to treat others fairly and be treated the same way. I think it is important to not let the extremists alter our views of groups of people. Judge each man by their own individual actions rather than their skin color, gender, etc.

Yes it does.
Your whole “blm is a fraud” rhetoric is straight up trash. So you are going to focus on a position that I even said was irrelevant to the main factually based point I was making... Since you're choosing to avoid the real issue and would rather look for something to get wound up about, how about this: Donald Trump wins re-election. He loses votes in some areas, but he makes up for it by receiving double the black vote that he received last time. At a minimum.

Lol omg just shut up already. You do more whining around here than any “extremist” you just mentioned.
Atleast the rest of us have a position to take. Your centrist nonsense is exactly that: nonsense.

Inspiring White Officer Takes to Social Media to Thank Black Women for Their Random Act of Kindness: ‘BLM, but so does yours!’By McKinley Corbley - Jun 20, 2020 A white Tennessee police deputy was left awestruck earlier this week when he was surprised with an anonymous gesture of kindness from two black women. Deputy Jody McDowell of the Sumner County Sheriff’s Department had stopped at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast when the good deed took place. When it was time to pay for his meal, he discovered that the women had already taken care of the bill—and they left him a message that read: “BLM [Black Lives Matter], but so does yours! Thank you for your service. Breakfast paid.” McDowell later published a photo of the note to Facebook hoping it would reach the women. “I want to thank the two sweet black ladies who paid for my breakfast this morning,” he wrote. Although the women left before anyone had a chance to get their names, they were reportedly waiting to board a flight home to Baltimore, Maryland from the nearby airport. Since McDowell posted the photo to social media, thousands of people have expressed their appreciation over the sweet message. “This post made me feel that there is hope for our country after all,” read one of the comments. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/deputy-thanks-black-women-for-act-of-kindness/

I guess I just see the Democrats involvement/inability to affect change and the BLM movement as 2 separate issues.
I'm fine with getting corrected if my assumption is wrong anywhere, but I'm assuming (because that's how I see the issue), that BLM is protesting against the whole system, and Democrats are a part of that system. I guess it's just hard to call out Democrats when you have our president and other Republicans on the news for saying/doing a bunch of 1950's-era racist stuff.

Which only goes to expose that the BLM movement is a fraud. I don't know why you wasted so many days and words disguising what you really meant to say in the first place. I give you kudos for finally stepping up to the plate and letting your true feelings out. It explains everything.

Yeah, that's pretty messed-up...
Not gonna lie though, I'd definitely break my arm for a seven-figure payday. He deserves it though; they screwed-up big-time.
Which is typically how it works. The cops that commit these atrocities go right back to their beat, after having been on paid leave during an investigation. Then the tax payer foots the bill for their mistakes. Those expecting the actual officers bare the burden of their crimes are portrayed as the bad guys. Murica!

I guess I just see the Democrats involvement/inability to affect change and the BLM movement as 2 separate issues. You can look at how it's going right now. The GOP police reform bill that's being proposed has no teeth to it and addresses almost nothing. The Dems are fighting for something much better. The GOP holds the majority and we know it won't end well. Of course when they get overrode by a majority GOP senate we will see them say that the Democrats really weren't fighting for change.

I think people get caught up on the labels. A Republican did this, a Democrat did that, a policeman did this, a black man did that. Forget which group they "belong to" and think about whether or not the action is wrong. 99% of Trump's antics=wrong. But People get caught up in the fact he's the Republican candidate/president. On the other side, BLM can have a good goal. But just because they have the BLM label, doesn't mean particular actions are/aren't right/wrong. Actions are what matter. Not what you call them or who is doing them. "I'm on the right side/applying the right label, if you don't put on the right label, you're wrong. Forget the actions/facts. My side's the good side. If you don't agree with me, you're a bad guy." There is no permanently fixed good side/ bad side. There only people with their own positives and flaws. Everybody has both. Unfortunately we tend to only focus on one set depending on the label we apply to people. On "my" side, look at all those positives. Not on "my" side, look at all those flaws. I don't see how unity/equality can ever come out of that approach. Divides just get deepened- Artificial divides. People do do bad things. Hold that person accountable. Don't hold it against every person you assume you can attach a similar label to. Good people do bad things. Be willing to call them on it. Good intentions don't always work out how you want them to, be willing to reevaluate. All this "sides" business has gotten ridiculous. Trump got elected because people thought he was on the "good side." (Less bad anyways) People will probably vote for him again because he's still on that "side." How do we get rid of this sides nonsense? All it leads to is conflict. If we're going to keep using "sides," can we at least keep it restricted to issues? Not labels so unhelpful as to be meaningless when viewed as "sides" (White/Black, Democrat/Republican, etc.)

Actually no when it comes to your example of Trump. While it's certainly true that Democrats and Republicans disagree on policy and a certain percentage of them will always be nasty, more often than not there is at least some recognition that it's simply a disagreement of policy.
I thought GWB made a huge mistake by going to war with Iraq for reasons that certainly do not fit into this thread. But what I didn't question is whether he actually felt and believed what he was doing was best for this country.
To try and claim this is even close to a similar situation does not apply.
I liken it to beer. I mean we all have our favorite brand. Some like IP's, some imports and differing domestic brands, What I've come to realize at this time in our nations history is a Bush isn't that bad.
And on a more serious note, I think your issue is more about leadership. What does BLM actually stand for and what do those claiming to belong to BLM stand for? I agree with you that the message is rather scattered because it doesn't seem that one person speaks for them.
We hear several voices that seem to stand for and propose differing ideas when you get into specifics. But the same holds true in politics. Mitt Romney and Donald Trump are two of the biggest contrasts I can think of in terms of Republicans. The same can be said of the moderate and progressive elements of the democratic party.
So the message is always garbled. It's always confusing and to try and claim you know what any of them actually stands for is by pointing the finger at the one you happen to be listening to at the time.
The only real difference here is who the people elect to run their side in terms of politics. At that point they have made a decision as to who it is that will be representing their views as the head of their political party. That's a clear cut decision and not a scatter shot message.

Why is it so important to you to fan the flames? There are a ton of videos/articles out there that I could post that have a very different message. I don't post them because I don't want to further the divide. I even got on Memphis for posting his videos. But, some of you only post videos/articles that are one-sided in that they are portraying the police and whites in a negative light. Why? Do you really think that will help ease the racial divide?

See it that way? Do you ever post a video/article from the other perspective? Have you ever posted a video/article about how 200 blacks invaded a WalMart and stole items? Or, have posted articles/videos of how police officers are being called in to situations only to be ambushed?
Come on, Milk! I think you are intelligent and a pretty good guy. But, this is not a one-sided story. There are good and bad folks on both sides. To only portray one side as bad is not very honest.

I have posted several videos of looting. Posted videos of Cleveland's E. 4th St getting torn apart.
I also posted just today of Donald J. Trump getting a victory from the SCOTUS today.
There is a cultural change happening I have posted topical information. In fact, I was going to post the story of the Black man that had previously been imprisoned and helped the cop, but you beat me to it.
You don't have to agree with what I post and are free to question it, but I'll post what I like.
And by the way, I'm not a good guy, I'm a great guy!
I hope your family is well re: Covid-19.

I think you are misinterpreting what my message was. That's okay.
I do think it would be a good thing to try and unite people instead of divide them. But, that's just me.

I am not misinterpreting your opinion as far as I can tell. It is okay we aren't on the page as far as the message or how it's being interpreted.
As evidenced by the current polls (if they can be trusted at this moment) indicate people are uniting against Trump and his divisiveness and are rallying around to support a more united nation. The gap continues to widen as the weeks pass.
Looking forward to spending some time soon in the Palmetto State.
Thanks for the conversation!

Here's the problem with that approach in my eyes ... Trump has many, many flaws. One of the very biggest is his divisiveness. What is needed is compromise and dialogue. Removing Trump has to be a priority for many - but doing it without alienating and DIVIDING the country the same way Trump has should be the goal instead of operating at the same level as Trump. Your additional rhetoric that is going to drive division is not going to help remove Trump, otherwise I would have a different perspective.

Some people see bringing attention to a very real problem and fighting to have it addressed as dividing people. The same thing was said about Women's suffrage and civil rights. It's not. It's simply seeing a wrong and trying to right it. Men like this lived before. They too were accused of sowing division rather than trying to address the wrongs of this nation. They were labeled and attacked. Yes, even assassinated in some cases. One such man was Robert F. Kennedy. Here is what his brother said in part during his eulogy... On the death of Robert F. Kennedy, New York City, June 8, 1968
"My brother need not be idealized or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life, to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it.
"Those of us who loved him, and who take him to his rest today, pray that what he was to us and what he wished for others will someday come to pass for all the world.
"As he said many times, in many parts of this nation, to those he touched and who sought to touch him: 'Some men see things as they are and say, “Why?” I dream things that never were and say, “Why not?”'" You can't let the fact that some people see trying to right a wrong is division. The leaders that helped make the strides we have in society so far always blocked out that kind of noise to do what was right. Our society is better off today for it.

J/C I did get a belly chuckle a couple days ago where I read that Mayor DiBlasio was going to paint the street right in front of trump tower in Manhattan with Black Lives Matter.
Right on 5th-it looked like a whole city block.
I'm sure it went over well with fats nixon

I think it was addressed to me. However, he is misrepresenting my position. Of course we should point out the wrongs. We can't fix things if they aren't brought to our attention. My point was that only posting one-sided videos and articles isn't really solving anything. It would be nice to see multiple takes on these issues instead of a barrage of one-sided views that point the finger only in one direction. I have almost resorted to posting videos that show things in a different light. Fortunately, I have not resorted to that type of posting because it would only seek to further the divide.
I think most Americans are aware of the topic and steps are being made to correct some of our problems. Painting one side as evil and the other as innocent angels isn't doing anyone any good.

It wasn't directed towards you at all. It was directed more towards those claiming that trying to right wrongs in our society is nothing more than division. It's not division. It's attempting to make strides towards progress.
I was pointing out that it's the same tactic I've seen in this nation since I was very young.
But I guess maybe we do see it slightly different. Not that I see it as some great obstacle. I've witnessed a lot in my lifetime.
The first time I can ever remember seeing my mom cry was when JFK was assassinated. I remember watching Bobby Kennedy and MLK speak before they were both assassinated. Our history books taught us about the assassination of Lincoln.
Now people can argue the point all they like. And I certainly don't begrudge that they may see it differently than myself. But I've watched every effort to help those that our laws, traditions and social construct have held back, be met with resistance and labeled as being destructive and divisive.
All of the civil leaders that were actually uniting people in such numbers that threatened the status quo were slaughtered. Every measure that has been brought about to promote equality in our nation has been fought against tooth and nail. So I guess it just makes me wonder how much more the other side can do before people see them as the enemy?
Now you may see "enemy" as a strong word. But context is key. I don't mean enemy as in the manner where you go out and fight to the death. I mean it as the enemy of your ideas, dreams and hopes for a better nation. An enemy against everyone being treated equally in our nation. An ideological enemy.
I've watched great leaders who fought for this cause be killed. I'm not sure how much more could have been done to create an ideological enemy.

If you don't show the wrongs being committed, how does it bring attention to those things? How would showing cops playing basketball with inner city youths bring attention to police brutality? When you wish to bring attention to a problem, you show the problem.
There are a lot of good cops in this country. A LOT of them! They aren't the problem nor is their conduct what anyone is trying to address.

Not sure how it brings attention to police brutality and the need for a change in policing policy. Distracts from bringing about real change though.
