So does black power advocate what white power does? You do understand that white power means you stand up for racists and the fact that the white race is supreme, right? That the groups that use this as their mantra advocate and are often self proclaimed Nazis, right? That they wish to remove the black race from America, right?

Those things are nothing close to what "black power" means. You act as though these sayings are the same thing. They're not. Just because words are the same it lacks the context of what people mean when they say them.

Standing on the fence concerning racism never changed anything in this country. MLK has proven that. Only by taking a stand and fighting to change it has worked. There's nothing wrong with taking a moderate stand on a lot of issues. Finding common ground is a good thing.

I've taken flack myself by promoting moderate Democratic candidates on here. There have been times I've voted for Republicans. But each issue stands on its own ground. And racism has been proven to be one issue you just can't "sit on the fence" about or nothing ever changes.

I have never heard anyone in person or on video use the term black power prior to this thread.

With all the videos out there of people shouting white power, I'm surprised no one has posted any videos of people yelling black power.

It was a popular term decades ago and now GM is trying to use it as some gotchya moment as an excuse why it's okay to use the saying white power to help further the Nazi movement in America.

The problem is there are minority racists and there are white racists. Only yelling at one side isn't going to fix racism.

Someone has to stand in the middle and tell them both that they are propagating racism.

Black people having to look out for black lives first and by extension everyone else (paraphrased from the what we believe section of the BLM website) is a racist sentiment. Putting "your" race first. Can you imagine the outrage if someone said white people need to look out for White lives first, and that by extension they were looking out for everyone?

If I had more hair left, I'd be pulling it out. Let's all be racist to get rid of racism? By looking out for my freedom first and foremost, I'm looking out for everyone else's freedom? The logic is backwards.

Protest. What goes on is wrong. But don't protest by being a problem that you complain about.

Maybe it's not "you" personally, maybe it's not your interpretation of the movement, but, when the "founders" of the movement in black and white claim that they believe they have to put black lives first, it's problematic.

Maybe this is part of the reason racism is so hard to get rid of, this tribal instinct. How do we get to American tribe from black tribe, white tribe, x, y, z tribe?

Your MLK proved statement is juvenile. He proved what "I'm" doing works by saying and doing things significantly different? Protest is protest is protest, you and others keep saying, but it isn't.

Protests get attention. How you protest determines, or at least strongly influences, the response.

You’re a better man than me. I can’t. I just can’t listen to him. He’s so incredibly inarticulate and just generally crass and stupid it’s unlistenable. It’s like watching a cocky kid that didn’t read the book get up in front of class and give a report about it. A mess of disconnected thoughts and bravado without the substance to back it up. I haven’t listened to him speak for about three years. He’s said nothing of substance in that time. So I don’t feel as though I’ve missed anything.
