Here we go again. Here's a recent peer reviewed study showing treatment with Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin can reduce COVID mortality rates. It's funny watching the Trump haters jumping to slam this study and the Trump lovers saying it proves him right. I just want to remove the politics to know if it's an effective treatment.

Highlights

As of May27, 2020 there are over 1,678,843 confirmed cases of COVID-19 claiming more than 100,000 lives in the Unites States. Currently there is no known effective therapy or vaccine.

According to a protocol-based treatment algorithm, among hospitalized patients, use of hydroxychloroquine alone and in combination with azithromycin was associated with a significant reduction in-hospital mortality compared to not receiving hydroxychloroquine.

-Findings of this observational study provide crucial data on experience with hydroxychloroquine therapy, providing necessary interim guidance for COVID-19 therapeutic practice.

And they figured out how to mitigate it. So did many other nations in Europe. But trying to learn from their example would simply be un-American, right?

Well .. had my COVID-19 test done so I can have a minor procedure done next week ..... and I don't have it.

My sister-in-law has it, but my brother does not.

BEREA, Ohio (WJW)– An ice cream shop in Berea has a message for people who yell at employees: Respect them or go somewhere else.

Mootown Creamery posted on its Facebook page Tuesday morning about customers mistreating workers, who are mostly teenage girls, for wearing state-required masks during the coronavirus pandemic. The owner made the decision to also require guests to wear masks while in the store, saying it’s for the protection of employees and customers.

“Do you know how hard it is to work a summer rush in a face mask? With a line of customers to the door, some waiting outside, online orders dinging on a tablet, the phone ringing off the hook — and then have a customer throw a temper tantrum in the store calling the girls ‘paranoid’ or ‘anti-American’ or even worse – CUSS AT THEM! (Does it feel good to make a 16 year old girl cry in the bathroom? Or sob on her way home from work? Does that make you feel better about Covid? How would you feel if someone did this to your child?)” Mootown Creamery wrote.

The Ohio Department of Health issued mandatory protocols for restaurants when they were allowed to open for outdoor service on May 15 and indoor service on May 21. Businesses must require all employees to wear facial coverings, with a limited list of exceptions.

“Covid is one of the most awful things many of us have experienced in our lifetime. Our lives are flipped upside down. Businesses are closing. Some of us are still out of work. We are stressed out, worried, and frustrated. However that is no excuse to take out your frustrations on teenage kids serving ice cream! (Most of which this is their first job!) Are you serious?! What control do they possibly have over the situation?”

Mootown Creamery thanked customers who have been understanding and respectful. It also reminded patrons it offers curbside pickup, outdoor ordering and online ordering for those who do not want to wear face coverings.

Retail workers have always dealt with jackasses, because there’s a lot of them out there. It’s probably worse now because of all the stuff that’s going on.

Nobody should have to face ridicule from a semi-moron in the workplace, let alone a teenager.

You’d think people would be more understanding, more kind, and most are.

Not all of them, though.

That sucks. Sometimes we need to stick up. I might be a bit more confrontational than some, but sometimes you just have to step in and say something.

About a month or two ago, I was at the grocery store and waiting at a aisle end to allow traffic to thin. I was watching this jack wad pick up can after can of soup, then put them back. As he walked by I told him with all that is going on, that wasn't cool. A woman shopper was watching him do it as well. We both had our masks, he didn't. He went around the corner, then came storming back all ticked off talking about how he was a fighter and sticking his finger in my face. I stepped away from my buggy and just told him to get out of here.

The woman who saw it came over to me and patted me on the shoulder in a comforting way. She said don't let that guy bother you, I agree with you. That made me feel better.

If some idiot starts cussing at the ice cream girl at the Baskin Robbins, yep, I am going to say something. If you are unhappy about something, fine, there is a way to discuss that. You start making a 16 year old girl cry, no, that doesn't work in my world.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

there is actually a forum much like this one out there for retail workers called customerssuck.com. I actually own it, lol (took it over a tad more than three years ago), though I rarely ever go there.

Absolutely WAY over the top, and anyone screaming at a teenage worker like that simply needs to be slapped.

I think there are people that are simply struggling to process and accept and as a result, it comes out in the form of anger directed at whatever target is available when it boils over. It ain't right, but it kinda is just human nature.

My wife saw this this weekend. It was at a Cookie Cutters (haircut place for little kids). Some woman was in there getting all kinds of bent outta shape because the workers insisted on her wearing a mask. She somehow didn't get the 20 memos and reminders from them about being required to wear a mask, plus conveniently forgot the last couple of months happened.... and started letting f-bombs fly. Needless to say, all the other parents in there joined the folks behind the counter in telling her she had to leave.

GOOD!

That's exactly what needs to happen.

Look, it doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with any sort of mask mandate. If a business posts that you need to have one to be a patron, then you need to have one on to be a patron. If you don't like it, shut up and leave and take your business elsewhere. Don't be a whiny oxygen thief and scream at them for your insolence.

It's sort of funny that many of the same folks who think a bakery can refuse to bake a cake for someone thinks it's un-American to tell you they will refuse to serve you without a mask.

A bat still isn't going to get you the necessary 6 feet. Part of your body would still be within that 6' range.

Play it safe. Use an 8' 2x4.

I think a 35” bat at arms length should be fine for social distancing. If you’re measuring from your back foot and step into the swing, then you’ll be farther than six feet.

Can anyone verify 2 things for me?

1. A t.v. station, wmfd out of mansfield, apparently reported that the state of Ohio is counting as positive not only each positive test, but if someone gets tested, and they are positive, then gets retested a week later - the state counts that as 2 positives. Get tested a week later? Positive? That's 3 positives - from 1 person.

2. Is the cdc counting positive cases AND positive for the antibody as positive? In other words, say I had it back in January. Felt blah for a little bit, but never got tested. If I were tested today, and had the antibody, but not the virus, would I be counted as 'positive'. I've read that several times.

That "reporter" is Jack Windsor. He peddles wacky conspiracy theories and I do not believe his claim to be the case. I've seen nowhere that indicates this to be the case. I'm half-surprised he's still allowed to questions at DeWine's briefings, but his long winded questions entertain me, however.

There was some confusion a couple months back where the CDC was lumping tests together of those currently infected with Covid-19 and those recovered from Covid-19.

Here's one quote from a spokesperson from the North Carolina Dept. of Health on how tests are reported...

A spokesperson said:

In the total of laboratory-confirmed cases, each person is counted only once. If a person tested positive more than once (for example, if they were using the test-based criteria for discontinuation of isolation and had 3 total positive tests), they would be included in our case count only once."

I think a real question should be when the White House said "40 million people have been tested", does that mean 40 million tests have been taken total?

Because we know some people have been tested multiple times and the fact that 40 million tests have been taken in no way represents that 40 million people have been tested.

I've looked, albeit briefly, but haven't seen anything concrete.

I'll check later. It certainly would not make sense that they would report the same patients twice or three times for that matter. It's more conspiracy theory thinking to think that the Dept. of Health would do that to make the numbers look bigger than reality.

Maybe I'm wrong and Ohio did, but I do not believe so.

and yet, we have TONS of cases of "presumptive positives" when anything under the sun is a symptom and the deaths have little to no distinction between "died from" and "died with".

There definitely are games being played with the numbers. I have no problem counting the additional cases/deaths, but they should be broken out and not included as part of the default counts.
