Tucker Carlson renewed his attacks on Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) on Tuesday, calling her a coward for not debating him on his TV show.

Earlier this week, the Fox News host described Duckworth ― a decorated veteran who lost her legs in combat in Iraq ― as “deeply silly and unimpressive” and claimed that she and other Democrats hate America.

On Tuesday, Carlson claimed his show had contacted Duckworth’s office, but she was “too afraid to defend her own statements on a cable TV show.” He also said Duckworth ― whose family fought in every major U.S. conflict, including the Revolutionary War ― had no grasp of American history.

“To morons like Tammy Duckworth, [George] Washington is just some old white guy who needs to be erased,” he said.

Duckworth did not call for Washington to be erased. In an interview on CNN on Sunday, she slammed President Donald Trump for focusing on protecting statues, especially Confederate memorials, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

“His priorities are all wrong here,” she said. “He should be talking about what we’re going to do to overcome this pandemic.”

When pressed on the statues issue, Duckworth said there should be a “national dialogue on it at some point” after the coronavirus threat had passed. When asked specifically if Washington statues should be removed, she said: “I think we should listen to the argument there.”

It is perfectly acceptable to respect somebody's service/sacrifice and still disagree with their politics.. but the things he said are unjustifiable......

I assume that because this has been up for 6 hours or so and not a single Fox watcher has come to his defense, that is pretty good proof that there is no defense for it even if one is willing to reach hard... so the fact that many have read it and said nothing, as opposed to calling it what it is, is also telling.

And..... She's not a "coward" for not debating him, she doesn't OWE HIM a debate... if he wants to get into real debates with real Senators, give up the cushy job at Fox and run for something, then your opponent will OWE YOU a debate.... just more proof that these talking heads want to be the news more than they want to report on it.

They may not come here to defend him, yet he has the highest rated show on FOX News. Maybe that just goes to show that the things they support in private aren't things they're willing to say and support in public?

I am approximately the same age as you, 71. I was drafted in 1967 and I also was rejected because I was underweight at the time and was only one month graduated from High School. I was/still am highly allergic to being shot. I waived that deferment because others from my small town were called and I considered it my duty to serve. I also enlisted for an extra year to receive the MOS of my choice.

You also said you went to California with others, enrolled in college, and tried LSD for the 1st time. I guess there are no Bees at Oceanside or when you were protesting at Kent State?

I spent time in Germany but I also received my orders for Vietnam in 1969.

This is a difficult time period. We have Covid-19 and a ton of attention on race-relations. People are on edge. Emotions run over. We can all point fingers and at least have reasonable justification to do so.

But, what does it solve?

I know this is not a popular view on this board and there are a handful of posters who will try and shout me down...but they are not the majority. They are just really mean, vocal, and persistent. So.......I'll try again....

Is it possible for rational folks like you two to perhaps find common ground? To really listen to one another? To not talk past one another? To not talk at one another? YTown posted an article from a black man who has converted former KKK members to seeing the light because he talks to them rather than at them. I thought it was an enlightening approach. One that made so much sense. However, Rocket turned it into "what gives you the authority to tell a black man what to think" or something like that. He purposely shouted down folks working together instead of hating one another. Don't let those folks win. We're better than that.

Note: I am using you two as examples, but that is just figurative. I am asking all rational people to consider trying to bridge gaps instead of furthering the divide. Guys, there is a lot at stake here. The crap on CNN, the Cuomo News Network, is just as bad. There's no news there either....it's just Trump bashing. I can't stand watching either of them, but my wife puts CNN on. Every once in a while Sanji Gupta comes on with something interesting. Trump's an arsehole, I get that. You don't need to harp on it and embellish continuously in lieu of providing real news. The closest thing to real news on TV anymore is the BBC...and they lean pretty far left at times.

If you want to be the grammar police, can you please at least identify the part of the post that's wrong? Not only is reverting to picking on grammar just a weak thing to do when people are texting on phones, using voice to text and other means of writing their message, it normally means you can't refute the actual message. The only thing grammatically that needs to change is capitalizing the first letter of each sentence/paragraph. Just me but that put down of yours is an epic fail.

Your trick of running to race is the only thing you know how to do now. Anyone that calls you out on something is all of a sudden racist. Personally I don't think its that far of a leap that you're one yourself but against white people.

My problem is the way you write your sentences. It reflects your level of education and shows that you're either not intelligent or just lazy because you don't care. You should have some pride in the way you conduct yourself.
