I wonder if part of their plan involves reaching out to local Native American organizations.

They're cowards if they don't reach out.

If they are planning to go away from anything related to Native Americans, why do you think they should still reach out to that community?

It sidesteps the issue completely.

Look at what FSU does. They reach out to the Seminoles and they find ways to honor, show respect, and find ways to advocate for each other.

Snyder could do the same here.

We need more Native American, Alaska Native, and Indigenous voices in the public sphere. A discussion on team names led by organic discussion from Indigenous communities could truly do us good.

Baltimore police officers are upset about how they were not permitted to respond to the toppling of Columbus statue and how it was thrown into the harbor.

I am tired of certain folks thinking they have the right to trash public displays. They loot, they burn, the steal, they destroy. I think it is about time we fight back.

You're showing outrage over a statue that was torn down in civil disobidience. Let's not even talk about how this was a man who enslaved Indigenous individuals (Taino to be specific) which also lead to the rape and murder of Taino women and children.

For as much as you want to cape for Native Americans, I really think you should think about what Columbus did.

This same non-violent protest is the same type of stuff your idols talked about.

You're also showing outrage in a thread where Native Americans are disrespected by a slur of a name.

You just don't get it, do you?

Are you aware that the slaves sent to north america were actually captured in Africa, by Africans, and sold for money to not just the north americans, but to most european countries as well.

Only about 388K African slaves were sent to North America. The rest that came to the new world went to S. America and the Caribbean. (about 10.4 million)

I get it just fine and I'm disgusted by the looting, the destruction of property, the violence, etc. I also get that there are probably not many Native Americans participating in the toppling of the statues.

That's a lot of words to type when "peaceful protest" would have been sufficient

That's a cool name. I wonder if cfrs will approve.

Wolves might be upset though, especially red ones.

Just a joke everyone (except the cfrs part).

If you remove the red, it doesn't seem as creative.

Back to the drawing board.

For sure. Between the NFL and Daniel Snyder this is definitely going to get botched. Imagine if Jimmy Haslam had to come up with a new team name?

Given that the team name is "The Browns", don't be too surprised.

It would be called the Cleveland Dysfunctions.

Washington Warriors is the rumor ... of course, who knows if they’ll push back on Snyder’s #1 choice

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Here's a link to an article about it.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/washi...020-per-report/

Interesting, check out this part of the article:

Quote:
Washington has reportedly already determined it will not use any Native American imagery in its new name and look, but a name like the "Warriors" would conceivably allow the club to retain its current color scheme and secondary logos.

Maybe I'm nitpicking here, but why would a name like the "Warriors" allow the usage of the same colors? I'd think picking ANY new name would still allow maroon and yellow to be their colors, unless they became the Green Sox. What is the writer implying here? "Warriors" are red? If so, isn't that kind of the same thing?

How about Pelts or Coup? Try to keep the "Skinned" part in there from the Redskins?

Where did The Hogs fit with that spectacle? We are being over-responsive . Blossoms and be done with it.
