This is what I questioned. As per your usual, it has nothing to do with the testing or the positivity rate. And as usual you failed to provide anything I said in this thread that was political.

So carry on with your nonsense.

WASHINGTON — Hospitals in the Miami area have been so overwhelmed by coronavirus patients that intensive care units are now operating well beyond full capacity, according to a federal pandemic update obtained by Yahoo News.

The information comes from the “senior leadership brief” for July 27 prepared by the Department of Health and Human Services, or HHS, and distributed to federal agencies involved in the pandemic crisis. The document includes detailed analyses on various aspects of the crisis, from emerging hot spots to supply chain updates.

In the section titled “Medical care,” the document notes that in Florida, “hospitalizations increased 79% since July 4, with 8,974 current COVID-19 patients; ICU beds in Miami-Dade County at 146% capacity.”

Been hearing all kinds of stories of people going to get tested but after filling out the paper work they are being told that there is a long wait so the people leave only to get told by a boss or receive a letter in the mail stating they tested positive even though they never got tested. A guy I know was telling me this happened to a brother of a good friend of his and a co-worker.

I've heard that also.

I know - knew, 2 people that died from or with covid. 78 years old, and 87 years old.

I have 2 good friends that tested positive. Spent 2 weeks at home. Aside from being tired, no real issues.

It's out there, no doubt. It's no joke, no doubt.

Every time I read the symptoms, I can't help but wonder if my daughter had it in December. Back then, it was called "the crud". And I can't help but wonder if I didn't get it from her.....January. Congestion, way up in my head. Headache, sore throat, waking up in the middle of the night with a throat so dry I couldn't breathe, dead tired, night sweats, cough, lethargic, no appetite, etc. Who knows.

I am going in for my 2nd test in the past couple of months next week. I am having another minor procedure done on my spine soon .... so another test.

Tomorrow I get to go have electrodes placed on my spine and arms so they can determine if the issues I have with my hands is spine related, or if it is carpal tunnel. *Sigh* crazy

It's Tuesday, not tomorrow.

It's called a nerve conduction test. I have had them done on my legs/feet, and it's what they used to determine the neuropathy in my feet. It's really uncomfortable.

I used to say that people were getting on my last nerve. I didn't realize that they were dancing on it in spikes. crazy rofl

I know people who have lost family members over the last several months. 100% did not have covid. Death certificates say covid. I know of 3 such occurrences.

Yeah, I've heard that too. Same guy that told me about the bogus test results was telling me that his wife (I believe she's a head nurse at a local hospital)had told him of people dying from other things getting marked as it being from COVID. The local newspaper likes to scare everyone too, every day they post how many positive cases there are in the county and it will say something like " blank County has 150 positive cases", which is not true because if you read the whole article you will find out that 130 of those people have recovered.

Local news here did a story on the "I never got tested but was told I am positive" people, and even put out a request for anyone that had this happen to them, to contact the news station, and no one ever contacted them.

So starting to believe it may be one of those mis-information things. Someone heard something, from someone, told someone else, who told someone else, and next thing you know we have a bunch of people never tested being told they tested positive.

Just like politics, the second you ask them for proof it's a non-issue. But the story's out there and will spread like wildfire.

I’ll add. Doctors have to sign death certificates. They don’t lie about cause of death. Lying can lead to serious trouble for them. If someone died of a heart attack I assure you they’re not listing it as a COVID death. I also assure you people are dying daily from non COVID related causes still.

There are certainly some overcounts, but there are far more undercounts.

Between March 15 and July 18 this year, there have been 190K more deaths than in an average year. Compared to the official death count, of 154K deaths, it seems like we are missing about 20-25% of the deaths that are at least related to Covid.

Does anyone know the process of how the Covid numbers are gathered and tracked on a daily basis?

I am disgusted by how some citizens of Ohio treated Dr. Acton. The woman was doing a great job. Very progressive. And people attacked her. Threatened her. Camped outside of her home. Used racial slurs against her.

Not too many care because she is Jewish. But poor behavior is poor behavior.

Shame on you, Ohio.

Sorry, I don't get the pun. Can you explain?

I don't know about you but if I was trying to do my job to best of my abilities and a bunch of people started threatening my life and the lives of my family, and being audacious enough to show up at my house? You bet I'd be quitting that job

According to this, [projections are over half of Ohio's' restaurants could close for good. Ohio isn't special, I would say it's looking the same in other states if we have to go in to shut down mode again.

Restaurants are already operating at 50 % capacity and customers aren't going out as much.

A lot of people work in the service industry. We have to figure a way to keep these business' solvent. Being a cook, or waiter at some restaurant isn't easy work, but if you are good, in the right place, you can make around $700-$1000 a week. Maybe a little more. You can live on that.

Being a good cook or waiter takes skill. I am not taking anything away, but those are usually profession you started at 19 years old and stuck with it, you put elbow grease in to it. I am not sure that skill they might have if the restaurants close translates to other jobs.

Working in a restaurant takes hard work and dedication. Restaurant owners and Chefs don't tolerate employees who don't show up for work. Other employees, especially in the kitchen don't deal with that well either. Waiters and Waitresses pick up extra tables. More tips. Cooks? They have to suck it up. They are in the weeds all night long. They don't get extra for that unless the manager tells the wait staff they have to tip out the kitchen cooks as well for that night. It's pretty standard wait staff have to tip out bussers and dish staff.

If you want clean tables and clean plates, you have to give up a few percentage at nights end. Bartenders get a higher percentage from wait staff.

If the waiter or waitress stiffs you on a busy night, you know what section they are working. You might be a bit slow the next time to get their drinks out, or clear their tables.

This virus really sucks.

Implementing restrictions and shutting things down is the most effective way to slow the spread of Covid.

On the other hand, people have to earn money. Businesses are closing. People are losing jobs.

There are no easy answers here.

What annoys me the most is that we have always come together as a nation when faced w/a crisis, yet we're not doing that this time. Too many folks are using it for political gain instead of uniting as a nation. Too much "me" and not enough "we."

So are soldiers, because they signed up for the dangerous crap. Electricians die too, but mostly on high voltage lines which is another high risk job. You are trying to hard to troll the 'club' and you look foolish.

A healthcare expert advising politicians should not be the same level of dangerous to her health as a cops jobs. What a weird ass comparison.

Florida man arrested for spitting at boy who refused to remove his mask
Published: Aug. 6, 2020 at 10:55 a.m. ET
By Associated Press

TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man was arrested after confronting a child wearing a mask at a restaurant and spitting in his face when the boy refused to take it off, police said.

Jason Copenhaver approached the child’s table Sunday and asked the boy if he was wearing a mask, according to Treasure Island police. Authorities did not release the boy’s age.

Police said the 47-year-old then told the child to take it off. He then grabbed the boy’s hand tightly and put his face next to the child’s, telling the boy he now had the coronavirus, according to police reports.

“Victim stated that (Copenhaver) was in such close proximity that spit particles from (Copenhaver’s) mouth landed in his face,” an officer wrote in the police report.

Restaurant workers asked Copenhaver to sit down, saying he appeared drunk and wasn’t wearing shoes. The police report said he also tried to hit an employee.

News outlets reported that he was charged with simple battery and disorderly conduct. He was freed after posting $650 bail. It was not immediately clear whether Copenhaver had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

Police said Copenhaver told them he didn’t know if he had coronavirus and has never been tested.
