I agree. He has beed a good veteran player. No all-star, but none the less he is a solid player. He improves the lb room.

Not a depth signing in my book. He is a solid player, not elite. Given that our LB room is green, this may help our youngsters' learning curve for the NFL. Decent move.

J/C. I like the signing, veteran who may work well in our system. Our young players could learn a lot from him, he certainly has seen some highs and lows. Sometimes these type signings are a godsend. Good Luck Mr Smith and welcome to the Dawg Pound!

Think Tarver was his position coach with the 49ers in 2017 as well.

I like it.
The Saints cut Nigel Bradham. Anyone think he is worth a look?

Proves what I have been saying, our line-backing core is in the bottom 3 of the league.

I just saw that Nigel Bradham was cut from the Saints. I don't know much about him except that he was solid for the Eagles....The Saints say they are going "Younger"....
Anyone know anything about him??? Possible option????
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

Does he do anything while on the Browns in a game that counts. That should be the litmus test for any Browns signing.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Probably not very good, or average ... but not terrible
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

The purest motorcyclist I’ve ever seen, what a talent. Oh wait, oops wrong Malcolm Smith. Nevermind, as you where.

Browns linebacker Malcolm Smith not keeping secrets from the young players in his group https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/08...-his-group.htmlBy Dan Labbe, cleveland.com BEREA, Ohio -- New Browns linebacker Malcolm Smith, a seventh-round pick who wasn’t even invited to the combine, doesn’t forget either of those facts. “I am obviously a seventh-round draft pick so you never have the comfort of looking forward and being like, ‘Oh, I am planning on doing this, that and the third,’” Smith said in a Zoom call with reporters before practice on Saturday. “You can inside, but that is not how it gets done. It comes from every day. It comes from consistency. That is what I am trying to focus on, and whatever comes of it, comes of it.” As for not getting a combine invite in 2011 when he was coming out of USC? He thinks about it a lot. “Every day,” he said. “That is always something that I think about. Since that day, it has been on my mind. I think that was the biggest chip once I got started in the league. That is always going to be with me as a badge of honor at this point.” It worked out for Smith. Just short of three years after the combine he wasn’t invited to, he won Super Bowl MVP in Seattle’s 43-8 trouncing of the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos. “(The MVP trophy) is at my house,” Smith said. “It is in the office. It is not hidden. You can see it.” Smith has bounced around after spending his first four years in Seattle. He played two seasons in Oakland in 2015 and 2016. He was with San Francisco for two years, but missed the 2017 season. Last season, he signed with Jacksonville in October and then, after getting released, signed with Dallas in December. The Browns signed him last Sunday. “It is a cool opportunity to have, especially with a new coaching staff here and some of the people I am familiar with,” Smith said. “Obviously, the work the coaches have done and some of the players have done throughout the league, a lot of respect for a lot of the people here. I am just trying to add my sauce and bring what I can to the mix.” “He is a very intelligent player,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said. “He has experience in this scheme, although the terminology is not exactly the same so it is going to take a minute here for him.” It’s Smith’s knowledge and veteran leadership the Browns are counting on as the 31-year-old linebacker works his way into things late in camp. “It is not fair for me to keep some of the knowledge that I have,” Smith said. “You have to share what you know for us to be good, for us to compete and for us to operate at our best as a unit. You don’t want to miss any opportunities to share what you know.” And maybe impart some knowledge about what it’s like to be the MVP of the biggest game in American sports. “They want to know about the team we had, what it was like,” he said, “and the car you got.”

An over achiever without great talent. I'm not worried about LB in our system, I agree with a hurt Mack we are probably on the bottom of the NFL for LB "TALENT" as long as we get guys who learn the system and be disciplined we will be ok...I'm more worried about the loss of Delpit hurting us. As long as our DL stays strong we will dominate on D. This D will not be guided by our LB play. We will be judged via our DL...
