It never ceases to amaze me how so many professional players can act like such trash in their private lives. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2007/10/pittsburgh_steeler_charged_wit.htmlPittsburgh Steeler charged with domestic violence and more Posted by Donna J. Miller October 12, 2007 08:33AM Categories: Crime Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najeh Davenport, 29, is charged with three misdemeanors: domestic violence, child endangering and unlawful restraint, Cleveland police said in news release today. Davenport, 29, of Pittsburgh, has been asked to turn himself in. Police said he fought with Anita Person, 27, the mother of his 5-year-old son, Oct. 4 on East 115th Street in Cleveland, where Person and the child live. Person called police at 8:45 p.m. and said in a shaky voice that Davenport had punched and choked her after she removed the child from his Range Rover. She said Davenport had threatened to not return the child to her. She said he said, "You're not gonna get him back." Person, breathing heavily, told the dispatcher she did not need an ambulance. "I'm just a little scraped up. That's all," she said. Person made the call from a stranger's house after the altercation, which took place in the street in front of her home. While she was on the phone, Davenport also called police, complaining that he was supposed to have his son for the weekend, but that Person had taken the boy away from him. He also complained that she hadn't packed clothes for the child. Davenport said Person jumped over his younger son, who was in a safety seat in the front seat, to remove the 5-year-old while the truck was moving. Another woman called police at 8:48 p.m. and reported seeing a woman being punched by a man. He was "punching all on her and she was screaming 'help,' " the caller said. "No arrests were made as investigating officers were unable to determine a primary physical aggressor in the dispute," Lt. Thomas Stacho said the day after incident. "Statements were taken from all parties and photographs were taken to document injuries and the absence of injuries." Chief Prosecutor Victor Perez reviewed the evidence and charged Davenport yesterday. The maximum sentence for the three charges is 14 months in jail.

The guy once was caught in a college girls dorm room at 3am pooping in her closet. That would have been enough of a character issue for me to mark the guy for life.
Hopefully he gets Goodell's 4 week vacation after this weekend so it carries through 11/11.

I almost picked him up this week in fantasy football. Then I realized he played for the Stoolers.

Hopefully you also realized they have a bye this week.

Haha - yep - I was sorting by fantasy points, and he was near the top of the board. Saw they had a bye, and went elsewhere. If they were playing, I may have taken him.

What in the hell?
Anyways, glad to know the woman and child is fine. It's nice to know he should be missing some games, but more importantly the safety his child and the mom is there.

MIAMI (AP) -- Green Bay Packers fullback Najeh Davenport was arrested Monday, accused of breaking into a university dormitory and defecating in a woman's closet.
Davenport, 23, surrendered to police Monday and was charged with a second-degree felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, said Richard Master, a Miami Shores police spokesman.
The former University of Miami player was wanted on a warrant issued in April. He was released Monday from a Miami-Dade County jail after posting a $6,500 bond. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
"This whole thing is a misunderstanding. Najeh had nothing to do with the situation," said Richard Sharpstein, Davenport's attorney.
According to police, Davenport crept into a dorm room at Barry University around 6 a.m. on April 1. A woman sleeping in the room, Mary McCarthy, told police she was startled by a strange sound and saw Davenport squatting in her closet. Davenport then allegedly defecated in a laundry basket, McCarthy told detectives.

On a related note, this girl was staying at my place a few years ago (we had gone out with a group of friends and she was pretty drunk). In the middle of the night, she went into my closet, sat on my laundry basket (which was filled with clothes), and commenced urination.
I didn't realize it until laundry time.

I don't get it either Ytown,,, What is up with punk atheletes anyway,,.
Another thing,,, Davenport isn't broke,, he's got some coin.. I'm not saying he's gotta put his son and the mother of his son in a palace,, but come one,,, E.115th street.... He can do better than that for sure.....
I don't know the details of the charge so I'll reserve judgement, but just some common sense,, take care of the woman that gave you a child,,, Use the brain located above your neck,, not the one south of the beltline for a change!

The other side to that is, obviously he is the father, obviously there has been a custodial agreement. He is paying, probably, quite a bit in child support. What's the mother doing with it? It's not up to him to pay the rent. The mother is culpable for this, in my opinion. (and no, I don't mean she brought on the altercation - I'm talking purely about where she lives - nothing more nothing less)

I don't know what he's paying in child support,,,, maybe it's a lot or maybe it's next to nothing,.,
Here's the thing,, if it's my kid, he's living in a better place..
Show you what kinda guy I am,,, I have a 12 year old Bichon... Basically a fur ball with eyes... but dang cute.
This dog is my son,,, remember he's 12 years old this month and generally, healthy Bichons live to be 14 to 15 on average..
Lately my dog hasn't been well, in the last 30 days, I've shelled out a total of 4500 bucks to take care of him.. which by the way included a surgery...
I got the bucks, he's important, so I spend the bucks...
Are you saying it's ok for me to do that for a dog, but that it's ok for him not to provide a better environment for his son?

Umm, I don't think I ever said that, and I know you know I didn't say that.
What I AM saying (again, this is totally seperate from the fight/brawl/whatever it was) is: If he starts getting involved in the mom's rent - or house payment, or whatever, it will be neverending. HER living condition is not his problem to deal with. Now, before you go off let me say this as well. If the living condition is so terrible, he should take it to the courts and let them decide. He should try for custody. The last thing ANY non custodial parent should do is start shelling out money for the custodial parent to live on. It doesn't end.
I speak from my experience. My son lived with his mom. I paid the state ordered child support (by the way, child support is based on mom and dad's income. With that total, the state has a "table" that says child support for parents with "x" combined income is "y". You then take dad's percentage of the income, and mom's percentage and whoever has "custody", gets the other parents percentage in child support. Don't know if I explained that well enough. Example: Mom makes $100,000, dad makes $50,000.
Based on a $150,000 income, the state says the child has monthly expenses of $1500. Let's say dad has custody. Of the 150,000, he was making 34% of the income, mom was making 66%. Got it? So, dad having custody, mom has to pay 66% of the 1500, or $990 per month. (keep in mind these numbers are not for any purpose other than an example.)
Now, as for personal experience: I paid child support for 11 years. I paid what the state said I had to. What did I get in return? An ex that wouldn't send clothes with our son when I had him, so instead of fighting, I bought him stuff to wear when I had him (every weekend). And those clothes stayed at my house.
I got a letter from the school that my son was out of lunch money. So I sent the school the lunch money for my son.
I got phone calls that my son needed new shoes for baseball and if I didn't pay for it, he wouldn't be able to pay. My son got those shoes.
Believe it or not, I even got a call from my ex saying they were going on vacation, and my son's plane ticket cost "x", and I'd better pay half or he wouldn't be able to go.
I also got phone calls from my son, generally late in the evening saying "mom's boyfriend is drunk. I'm scared". So, up to her house I'd go. My son would come out, and then my ex. She'd be hooting about me minding my own business, stay out of her life, etc. I would ask my son what he wanted to do that night - stay or go with me. Most of the time he'd say something like "if he leaves, I'll stay here, but if he stays here I want to go with you".
Mind you, my ex lived in a rundown house, but they always had booze for her boyfriends (most of whom didn't work). Well, coming back from vacation one time when my son was 13 he started crying. What's up? I don't want to go to my mom's house. I told him he didn't need to, I'd take care of it. I called her and said he doesn't want to live there - he doesn't want to live like that.
I got custody. My ex was okay with it, cause she "needed" this current boyfriend. It took me 3 years to get any child support from her. I finally, after years of "I will....." called the county Child support division, and boom, it was taken care of - I started getting weekly checks, garnished from her wages.
So, why do I go into all of this? First of all, to possibly understand my position, you need to understand where I'm coming from. Secondly, the child should be the most important, but you have to realize that an ex will try to milk money till the cows come home - there's never enough money.
Face it, she has a responsibility to take care of her child. Should the dad be forced, or do you condone forcing this dad into forking out more and more money? When do you stop? So, he pays her rent for a nice apartment in a nice section of town. Think it will stop there? No, Next it will be a vehicle. It will go on and on.
Divorce is ugly. I don't think these 2 were ever married, and that makes it uglier still. Am I supporting the dad in this case? I don't know. I do know I'm saying there's more to it than just ponying up the money.
If he's a devoted dad, and his son is living in squalor, the courts won't have a problem changing custody.
Then again, maybe he doesn't want custody. In that case, he's a real piece.
JMO.

Oh, by the way. My son had a 4.0 first semester last year, second semester he got an A- in one class, which gave him a 3.956 gpa. I coughed nearly $10 grand for his first year of school. His mom? She went down to visit and took him shopping. He's now in his second year. Works 2 jobs in order to have spending money. I just bought him a battery for his laptop (on top of paying for a summer class he had up here, and on top of paying even more this year for school).
Why do I do it? To help him. And to hopefully help him realize that people, parents included, put their money where their mouth is.

These charges were initially dropped by the child's mother....now she decides to press charges against him. Funny how HE was the one who ended up with scratches on his face, and she didn't have one single cut or bruise...nothing! She a crackheaded hoe. Nothing will come of this.

Actually the crackheaded hoe didn't have anything to do with the charges being filed. The prosecutor reviewed all the evidence and decided to press charges.

You obviously dont know much about the law in the State of Ohio. In domestic violence cases the victim does not get to decide whther they want to press charges or not. The police take all the evidince and then the prosecutor decides whether to procede forward with the case. Second, there was a unrelated eye witness who saw him punching her.
Lastly if she is a crackhead ho then what does that say about him? Oh wait he has already shown he is a POS. He played at Miami and is now a Steeler , what would you expect??

Don't matter with domestic violence. The obviously had something on him that allowed them to press charges. The neighbor saw him punching her repeatedly and yelling for help. I think that's evidence enough. Just because he's a Steeler, don't defend his actions. He poops in women's closets for Christ's sake.

Right, so why was HE the one to call 911, hmm? Just because she has a crackhead neighbor to back up her "story" doesn't make it true.

I know reading and comprehending is hard for most Steelers fans so maybe you can have Shep explain it to you.
He called the police after she had. Its called trying to cover your ass.
Also the person who was unrelated to the incident and called police didnt even know her name.

So, she called the cops first. He called second. A neighbor was also calling, saying he was hitting her. And he got some scratches? Hmmmmmm..........If I was hitting a lady I would expect to get some scratches.
My guess is, if this hilljack played for the Browns your attitude would be different, and your assumptions would be different.
And before you get on me about it, please re read this thread and notice where I defended this guy to an extent - as far as him paying child support and him not being responsible to put his ex wife/ex sex toy up in a nice apartment/house. That is not his job. But beating down a woman is not his job either. Got a problem with visitation? Call a cop. Things get taken care of in a court of law without violence. It works.

What is it that I can't read? Maybe you're the one who can't read, because I asked you a question that you can't even answer....
I want you to tell me how it is that a 6'2 250 lb. NFL player can beat on an average size woman (like she claims), and have not ONE single mark on her? She claims that while she was holding her son, he slammed her onto the ground in addition to slapping her and choking her. WTH? That sounds believable to you?
Also, I'd like to know WHY she was attempting to enter his car while he was driving off in order to get her child? He was scheduled for a visitation, he had every right to take his son. What she did right there was endanger her child.
One last question - why is it that the night this all happened, the police couldn't find anything to charge either one of them for? They took photographs that night....he had scratches on his face, she didn't have one mark. They found NOTHING to charge him for.
Suddenly, a "witness" appears out of nowhere to back up her claim? It's too bad Davenport didn't have someone with him to back up HIS claim, huh?
So yeah, I tend to not believe this story...not because I'm a Steeler fan, but because it doesn't add up. I could easily accuse you of the same thing....assuming that he's guilty just because he's a Steeler.
Unless you can answer any of these questions without your stupid immature insults, then we have nothing further to discuss...

She claims that while she was holding her son, he slammed her onto the ground in addition to slapping her and choking her. WTH? That sounds believable to you?
Oh I dont know maybe because a second completely unrelated person called the police and reported the same exact thing WHILE it was going on. Somebody who had no idea of who she was or he was and what a POS he is. Hes not a POS because he is a Steeler but the fact that he is a Steeler is appropriate.

Just clicking Just to show you how out of hand and stupid these domestic disputes can be,, I have a neighbor that lives 4 doors down from me.. Now everyone in the neighborhood knows me because they see me 6 or 7 times a day walking my dog.. What's unusual about that is that I'm 6'2, 220 lbs and I walk a dog that's lucky to weigh in at 20 lbs.. I guess it just looks wierd.. I say hello and converse with anyone and everyone.. (I've been told more than once that if you put a hat on a telephone pole, I'll carry on a conversation with it) So, yesterday, this neighbor (an pakistani) comes to my door,, crying and shaking... she's speaking very very fast and I'm having a hard time understanding her of course.. but geez, how do you not try to help right? I tell her to let me get my shoes on and I'll come out and talk to her. (she and her whole family are afraid of dogs so she didn't want to come in, which I offered) THe next thing I know, I'm in thier house, he's thowing things all over the place, his parents live there also and they are yelling at the woman and also throwing things around.. He wanted her to leave,, pack and leave right on the spot. I took him out for a walk to see if I could calm him down.. it seemed to work a little, he stopped yelling when we got back, but his parents were yelling at his wife and of course speaking gibberish (that's what it sounds like anyway) Then the husband jumps back into her face and I'd had enough,, I yelled and threatened to call the cops if they didn't stop yelling at the woman.. amazingly, they all shut up,, apologized to her in front of me and she said,,Ok,,, then told me to leave! that she would be ok.. Hey,, I'm outta here... two or three hours later I'm out walking the dog (gee, that never happens ) and I see her pull in after picking up her kids from school... she was all smiles and very happy and thanked me again.. I'm telling you,, Domestic disputes are nothing to play with.. they could be stupid spats or something much much worse. I think if I had it to do over again, I'd have called the cops and let them sort it out..
