Denver Utah is beautiful basketball. Two very well coached teams who always make the right play.
Basketball is a funny sport. LeBron's basketball is ugly and difficult to watch. Movement is purely designed to get LeBron assists or get his own shot. It's ugly basketball. But he's so good it works. And he's so good he can beat teams by himself.
Teams like Utah and Denver rarely go all the way but it's beautiful, pure basketball.
Basketball is the ultimate individual sport.

Hmmmmm...........I see how individuals can dominate games, but I always thought basketball was a huge "team" sport.

This Mitchell Murray back and forth has me mesmerized. Two young likeable stars putting on an absolute clinic. Mitchell has two 50 pt games in this series. IMO, that isn't being talked about enough. We need this series to be extended to a best of 9. I want more of Mitchell/Murray.

Murray shot something like 14-17 in the second half?
He had three consecutive really huge jumpers to take Denver from down 2 to up 4.
The Clippers scored 154 in regulation.

I fell asleep during the Clipper game. The first game was awesome High drama. Murray was other-worldly. Quinn is a great coach, but he should have left Clarkson in. Being able to create your own shot is huge in the playoffs.

Rachel Nichols @Rachel__Nichols The Bucks didn't come out of the locker room for their game against Orlando & now the Magic have left the court. Players around the NBA Bubble have been discussing boycotting games in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting. @WojESPN says NBA officials are now talking to the Bucks.
Chris Mannix @SIChrisMannix The Celtics and Raptors remain deep in discussions about a possible boycott of tomorrow's Game 1, sources told @SInow . What's happening now between the Bucks and Magic could have a domino effect.

Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn The Portland Trail Blazers and Lakers won't be playing Game 5 tonight, league says. Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn The NBA, owners and front offices didn't see this wave of player boycotts coming today. Hours ago, they all expected to be playing these games tonight. This is a pivot point for the NBA and professional sports in North America. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1298728518143086593 https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1298729636004798466

good stuff. glad the players are sending a message however they can.

Don't pay them then.
Pretty simple to me.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

I will not judge one way or the other. I do think it will be interesting to see how this decision plays out in the long run.
Will it help the movement?
Will it further the divide?
Will it bring people together?
Will it hurt the overall revenue of the NBA?
Time will tell.

1) That would be a horrible look for the owners.
2) I don't think the players would care.

Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn Statement from @NBA_Coaches Association: The NBA coaches support our players 100 percent. The restart happened largely because of the platform it provided. The baseless shootings of Jacob Blake and other black men and women by law enforcement underscores the need for action... https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1298769420224004102 Adrian Wojnarowski @wojespn The NBA has scheduled a special Board of Governors meeting on Thursday morning, sources tell ESPN. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1298778627669143558

really glad they have the players back.
this is way bigger than playing a game right now. listening to some of the players speak...they can't even focus on the game.
how could they? i'm proud of the players.

Everyone in the world knew what position the NBA would take on this once the players made their decision. That's not important. What is important are the questions I asked earlier. And again, I am not judging. It will just be interesting to see what occurs moving forward.

Good read on the subject if you have The Athletic... Richard Deitsch @richarddeitsch COLUMN: NBA viewership has been and will be a of interest for many. Here's a long examination of the NBA's viewership (past, present and future) with two of the U.S's foremost experts on sports viewership: @AustinKarp & @crupicrupicrupi https://twitter.com/richarddeitsch/status/1298724577686589440

Can you give a synopsis? I'm mainly curious on how the viewership has been with the games in the bubble... I'll openly admit I rarely watch an NBA game... football is my preference... I enjoy baseball... but never really get into basketball.... I do tend to watch some of the playoffs, but haven't caught a game yet this year.

I don't have the Athletic. I don't want to ask you to do too much work, but would you be willing to either summarize it or show us the key bullet points? I understand if it is too much trouble.
I am interested to see how this plays out. I've been going back and forth on the possible outcomes ever since I heard the news of the Bucs not taking the floor earlier today.
I can envision different scenarios, but I'm starting to lean towards this not being a good move. I think it could have been, but it should have been coordinated and an action plan w/specific demands put in place. This seems random and more emotional rather than a calculated move.

Ratings have been down. It's surprising because people are starved for sports. I think the kneeling and constant references to BLM turned some viewers off.
I wasn't one of those people. I still watched and have been enjoying the games minus the political rhetoric. But, I love basketball and I wager on it.
The more I think about this, the more I am thinking that not playing wasn't a very good idea. But, it's early and we'll see.

Is there any chance that you would agree to you and I never conversing again? I don't like you. You don't like me. Why pollute the board w/bickering?
State your opinions and I'll state mine. I have absolutely no desire to converse w/you.

It's a fairly deep and nuanced dive into the ratings, target demo graphics, viewing options (non traditional, like tv), etc..

Didn't think so. You're not good w/allowing others to express their opinions w/out ridicule and yet, you call others fascists and Nazis.

Okay, since I can't see the Athletic's article, I will take a preliminary stab at my own questions. I might change my opinions as more information comes available. j/c:
Will it help the movement? It will certainly bring more attention to the situation. It might even help to inspire change. Whether or not that change will sit well w/the majority of voters is in doubt.
Will it further the divide? Unfortunately, I think it will.
Will it bring people together? I think it will bring like-minded people together in a tighter circle, but I doubt it will bring the country together.
Will it hurt the overall revenue of the NBA? I think the this is the easiest question. Yes, the NBA will lose viewers and not even come close to gaining an equal number of new viewers.

I freaking love basketball, but I turned my back on MLB years ago when all I heard about was steroids and labor disputes. I love baseball as a game, but I didn't want to be bombarded by that crap.
I love basketball even more than baseball. By far. But, I think I am at the point where I hope they walk. See where that gets you.
You want to walk out due to isolated cases of police brutality, yet you won't even address black on black crime? You won't even mention how many children are being murdered by random drive-by shootings by gang members?
Go ahead and walk away from millions.

so anyways,
gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. at this point, i can see the season being canceled. there was already players disliking the bubble even before this recent incident, and i can't see players remaining inside it with everything that's going on.
maybe they push it back a week or two? i dunno. interesting that some MLB teams are following suit. NFL gets to dodge the chaos - for now- due to when the season starts. but there's NFL players highly upset and...well who knows.

what do they want? so the owners have to come up with something to keep them there? what would keep them there? money towards black causes?
if they cancel the season what is the plan to actually make changes?
