I never said I would like to do that. I said we could do that.

I would think any terms concerning a trade would include the team he's being traded to having a deal in place with him prior to the trade. Maybe that can't be done but it that would seem to be ideal. At least a deal to sign the franchise tag before making such a trade.

Either of those two options may be what's taking so long to complete a deal.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

A few thoughts:

--I don't think the Jags are close to trading the guy. He has to sign his franchise tag and has said he won't do that. That could change, but again, I doubt the report of them being "close" to trading him is wrong.

--No way would I give up a second rounder if I wasn't sure I could retain him long-term.

--I think Vernon is a very good player and I don't think DE is a position of need.

--I don't think we will trade for Ngakoue.

Hopefully Vernon has healed up and can stay healthy. I like him as a player.

Vikings didnt have to pay much to acquire him, but they’ll have to pay a lot to keep him

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

That (and obviously his production) will be the only way to judge this trade. I am glad we didn't role the dice.

Didn’t see this coming .... dudes had at least 8 sacks a year and took 12 mill for this year ... Minni done well here ... and he’s on a prove it deal ...

NGAKOUE
DL, MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Vikings signed DE Yannick Ngakoue to a one-year, $12 million contract.
Ngakoue was set to make $17.8 million on his franchise tender in Jacksonville. He missed out on nearly $6 million just to get a new team. Ngakoue's biggest hangup appears to have been the Jaguars organization, and not the short-term tag, based on his new deal. Tom Pelissero reports that his contract deal does not include a no-tag clause so the Vikings could franchise him next year. He'll be playing to earn a multi-year contract from Minnesota this year. Ngakoue has recorded at least eight sacks in each of his four NFL seasons. Hitting eight sacks for the fifth time should earn him the type of money he's looking for.

I read that he gave up like 6 million bucks just to leave JAX for one year haha

Man, I wish we had made this trade. The ability to put him, Myles, and Vernon on the field together, or have a constant rotation to keep them fresh, or depth in case of injury or covid... that would have been nice. Especially since Vernon is a one-year rental.

Looks like the Jags are trying their best to tank.
Is Sashi in their front office now?
