I was going to ask if you would bother with it all and do it all over again. I suspect I know the answer LOLetc. Great for you. Solid class everywhere. Go ahead. Spoil yourself.

So we signed a midfielder whose last name is Damm. And he is fast. He runs 21 mph.
Someday I look forward to 70,000 people screaming Daaaammmmmmmmmmmmm! As he runs down the field with the ball. lol

Sorry to see the results for your team thus far in the tournament. It has been a bizarre tourney for sure - some really fun and exciting, high scoring games.
If the league plays games after the tourney, I'm sure things will turn around. Any idea when Josef is planned to be back?

Yeah, we arent going to be competitive until Josef is back. They never signed another striker. He tore his acl so I'm sure he wont be back until next year.
I'm actually not liking the matches so far. It just seems put together in an amateur way. Although I know they are doing the best they can given the situation. I'm enjoying Premier League a lot more.
Good luck to Timbers!

There's a big gap between Premier League and MLS - at least with the top Premier League teams, but...I get what you're saying.
I've enjoyed the games because they've been exciting, not necessarily good. I suspect the good will come as they play more games - I look at this like the preseason still. This being said, who knows if they play at all beyond the tourney.
Speaking of Premier League - I am an Aston Villa fan and was excited to see that they got promoted this past year...and am bummed they played so bad all season. It is probably going take all 6 points from the last 2 games to stay in.

Isnt Aston Villa owned by the old Browns owner Lerner?
I like Arsenal for completely shallow reasons that they have the best name. If I owned a sports team I would name them Arsenal.

The local Walmart here in NW OH had a whole row of Alanta United FC travel mugs for sale. Why? I have no idea, but I immediately thought of this thread. There was no other MLS gear anywhere that I could see.

I like the name too, but I'm glad they lost to Aston Villa today I'll be rooting for Arsenal in their next match...that keeps Aston Villa in the Premiership for another year

AU about to get eliminated. I'll be rooting for Timbers. I thought you might pull off the win yesterday. Not sure why, but there wasn't enough aggressiveness until late. Awww, thanks! I expect to lose against LAFC, but we're already in the round of 16 - that's where we'll need the good vibes. We have played ok soccer so far, but need to step up if we want to do anything. If you want to root for the Timbers, please root for Chicago to beat Vancouver tomorrow. If that doesn't happen, we play Seattle if we lose to LAFC, and I really don't want to play them

Not sure how we tied LAFC last night, we played terribly. I'll take Cincy over Seattle for the next game any day.

Yeah Timbers did good to avoid Seattle.
Our manager just quit. I think it's premature. We scored no goals this tourney but our striker is out. Our team hasnt been able to practice together much. Stupid.

I see MLS says "mutual agreed to part ways"...I wonder if he decided to leave (other jobs in europe?) or leadership didn't like losing. I agree on premature

I do know the assistant coaches left as well. I feel like there was a disagreement. There have been rumors for as long as he had been here that the players didn't like him much. We won 2 cups last year and did decent in the playoffs. So for the mgmt to think he was a bad coach would be wrong. But maybe they just couldn't all get along. We have a long time to find a new coach. Let's hope they get a good one. We also lost a lot of key players after last season that haven't been adequately replaced. I hope they take the offseason time to regroup and hire the right pieces.

Omg this Sporting KC shootout was awesome. What was awesome about it was Vancouver had 11 players out with injury and pretty much had a spare bench and no backup goalie - and still fought them to a draw. SKC got what they deserved, but still. I couldn't stop watching just in hopes Vancouver did what they did

LAFC beat up on Seattle badly. What the score doesn't show is 3 point blank goals missed by Diego Rossi. This was pretty ugly soccer, but Seattle is out of it...so I'm good. I just hope we don't play that badly Tuesday.

This is the ugliest I've seen us play. Sheer laziness and lackadaisical play.
We don't deserve to win on PKs.

Didn't deserve that, but I'll take it. NYCFC will take us to school this weekend if we don't clean a lot up

Good luck Timbers in your semi final match today! Thanks. An ugly win is still a win. I know this isn't an MLS final, but it might be the closest thing we have this season. And I'm going to use it to tie to an interesting fact. In the last 6 years only 2 teams from the West has gone to the finals - Portland and Seattle. 2015 Portland 2016 Seattle 2017 Seattle 2018 Portland 2019 Seattle 2020* Portland If we win, I'll take the one star we have and an asterisk as well

Too intense. I was texting a friend and telling him we were playing with fire in the 2nd half. Lazy play on both sides and we couldn't put away our opportunities. In the end, we only needed 2 and maybe we'll put them away against Orlando or Minnesota.
I'm kind of rooting for Orlando tonight to keep it Eastern vs Western conference and they went from bad last year to good this year.
CCL and $1.1m go the champ...I'll take those both

Thank you friend. It wasn't pretty, but it is a trophy, a CCL entry, and $300k. I'd prefer a star, but I'll take it side note: it only took the announcers until this week to understand the total purse was $1.1m for the tourney. Still 300k is 300k likely towards the academy program or preferably towards paying the stadium staff a little

MLS recently release the schedule. Not sure I'm a huge fan of playing 32 games against the west and 2 against the east. I hope it is just a covid thing, and we get back to the old format next season. Though at some point if they keep adding teams, maybe everyone should just play every team once (and maybe a rival twice).
Eve - want to keep this thread alive for 2021 MLS or create a new one?

We can make a new thread. That sounds like a weird schedule. I will have to see who ATL plays. Theres so many southern expansion teams. I would not be surprised if we played them.
I'm just happy to get back to soccer!

I'm guessing the attempt was to limit travel. It looks like you only play Seattle and LAFC from the west and the remaining games are all from the east. https://www.atlutd.com/schedule
