If you tried to kill someone, you broke the law. If you request an investigation... they don't come close to equating. Where were all of you when obummer sicked the irs on conservative groups? Try a different analogy.

No harm no foul? LOL

And directing Barr to investigate matters for his on personal political motivation is good in your eyes. Yes yes. Of course, that is what the DOJ is there for. It's Trump's own service to do with as he pleases.

All a bit like when you say the Trump Campaign didn't give Russia anything when in fact they did.... just say something enough times till you believe it.

So, Trump violated the first amendment? No, that guarantees speech. Can he even ask for an investigation if he feels the law was broken? He is commander in chief and the head of the administrative branch of government, after all. Has he attempted to bring charges or try someone without a crime? No. Is the left trying to invent a crime? Yes.

sorry Erik but you're only trying to convince yourself at this point.

whats even more sad is the FACT that the argument you're making doesn't even line up with what Trump himself would argue over the same topic. you're defending the dude with points he wouldn't even agree with.

this man literally stood on the debate stage and said if he was president, hillary would be in jail.

ignoring blatant facts like this is why i laugh at you and the rest of the cult.

continuously.

Convince myself? Damn but you are blind.

Comey, clapper, and brennan ought to be up on charges. Clinton should be too.

Clinton had classified emails on an unsecured server. If you held a clearance at all when you were in the military, you should know that in itself is illegal. Deleting those emails after they were supoenaed is obstruction.

Comey, clapper and brennan conducted an illegal investigation on a presidential campaign, without any actionable intelligence. They all knew the Russia collusion thing was a hoax, and brennan's own notes says it was pushed on them by clinton. They made Nixon look like an amateur.

so we've gone from claiming he was just requesting an investigation, to "well yea, they SHOULD be arrested."

This is hilarious.

Erik thinks this is Trump calling for an investigation.....

“DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, THE BIGGEST OF ALL POLITICAL SCANDALS (IN HISTORY)!!! BIDEN, OBAMA AND CROOKED HILLARY LED THIS TREASONOUS PLOT!!! BIDEN SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO RUN - GOT CAUGHT!!!” Trump tweeted.

“NOW THAT THE RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS GOT COUGHT [sic] COLD IN THE (NON) FRIENDLY TRANSFER OF GOVERNMENT, IN FACT, THEY SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN AND WENT FOR A COUP, WE ARE ENTITLED TO ASK THE VOTERS FOR FOUR MORE YEARS,” Trump declared late Wednesday morning. “PLEASE REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU VOTE!”

Where are all of the arrests? Can you imagine if the roles were reversed? Long term sentences would have started two years ago. Shameful!

These are the words of a wanna be dictator. There is no "request for an investigation" involved here.

Just a ploy.... If there were even the smallest reason, Barr would have them all in Cuffs already.

Same with the Durham investigation... They know there is nothing there,,, so the only value it has is as a bogeyman.. Something to hang over the heads of his rivals....

‘Unmasking’ probe commissioned by Barr concludes without charges or any public report
By
Matt Zapotosky and
Shane Harris
Oct. 13, 2020 at 6:20 p.m. EDT

The federal prosecutor appointed by Attorney General William P. Barr to review whether Obama-era officials improperly requested the identities of individuals whose names were redacted in intelligence documents has completed his work without finding any substantive wrongdoing, according to people familiar with the matter.

The revelation that U.S. Attorney John Bash, who left the department last week, had concluded his review without criminal charges or any public report will rankle President Trump at a moment when he is particularly upset at the Justice Department. The department has so far declined to release the results of Bash’s work, though people familiar with his findings say they would likely disappoint conservatives who have tried to paint the “unmasking” of names — a common practice in government to help understand classified documents — as a political conspiracy.

The president in recent days has pressed federal law enforcement to move against his political adversaries and complained that a different prosecutor tapped by Barr to investigate the FBI’s 2016 investigation of his campaign will not be issuing any public findings before the election.

Legal analysts feared that Bash’s review was yet another attempt by Trump’s Justice Department to target political opponents of the president. Even if it ultimately produced no results of consequence, legal analysts said, it allowed Trump and other conservatives to say Obama-era officials were under scrutiny, as long as the case stayed active.

The department — both under Barr and Trump’s previous attorney general, Jeff Sessions — has repeatedly turned to U.S. attorneys across the country to investigate matters of Republican concern, distressing current and former Justice Department officials, who fear that department leaders are repeatedly caving to Trump’s pressure to benefit his allies and target those he perceives as political enemies.

Kerri Kupec, the Justice Department’s top spokeswoman, had first revealed Bash’s review in May, after Republican senators made public a declassified list of U.S. officials, including former vice president Joe Biden, who made requests that would ultimately reveal the name of Trump adviser Michael Flynn in intelligence documents in late 2016 and early 2017.

In an appearance on Fox News that month, Kupec told host Sean Hannity that Barr had tapped Bash, the top federal prosecutor in San Antonio, to review Obama-era officials’ unmasking requests. She said that though the practice “inherently isn’t wrong,” the frequency with which requests were made or the motive for making them could be “problematic.”

Though “unmasking” is common and appropriate because it allows government officials to better understand a document they are reading, Trump and others suggested the list of requests that ultimately revealed Flynn’s name showed wrongdoing.

Bash’s team was focused not just on unmasking, but also on whether Obama-era officials provided information to reporters, according to people familiar with the probe, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive investigation. But the findings ultimately turned over to Barr fell short of what Trump and others might have hoped, and the attorney general’s office elected not to release them publicly, the people familiar with the matter said. The Washington Post was unable to review the full results of what Bash found.

Bash announced last week that he was leaving the department — surprising many in the Justice Department because the move came so close to the election — though he made no mention of the unmasking review. He said in a statement that he had informed the attorney general of the decision a month earlier and had “accepted an offer for a position in the private sector.” He gave formal resignation letters to the president and the attorney general on Oct. 5, and his last day was Friday.

Before being nominated as the U.S. attorney, Bash worked in the Solicitor General’s Office and as an associate counsel to Trump. Bash thanked Trump and others in the statement, and Barr offered his “gratitude” for Bash’s service.

“I appreciate his service to our nation and to the Justice Department, and I wish him the very best,” Barr said.

Asked Tuesday if Bash had quit over anything related to unmasking, Kupec said, “No, that was not my understanding.” At the time Bash’s departure was announced, she had said of the unmasking review, “Without commenting on any specific investigation, any matters that John Bash was overseeing will be assumed by Gregg Sofer,” who was tapped to replace Bash as the U.S. attorney. She declined this week to comment specifically on the status of the unmasking investigation.

Bash declined to comment. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in San Antonio said he could not immediately comment.

It was not immediately clear why the department was holding back Bash’s findings. Officials do not generally discuss investigations that have been closed without criminal charges — though Bash’s case is unusual because it was announced publicly by the department spokeswoman. Justice Department policies and tradition, too, call for prosecutors not to take public steps in cases close to an election that might affect the results.

Before Bash’s appointment, Kupec had said that a different federal prosecutor, John Durham in Connecticut, also had been looking at unmasking as part of his broader investigation into the FBI’s 2016 probe of whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the election. It was not clear how Durham’s and Bash’s work intersected.

Barr recently told some Republican lawmakers that no report of Durham’s investigation would be released before the November election, though unlike Bash’s review, Durham’s work seems to be ongoing, people familiar with the matter said. Trump has in recent days called the delay in the Durham case “a disgrace,” and asserted that his 2016 Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, should be jailed. He was previously critical of another prosecutor specially tapped by then-Attorney General Sessions to investigate matters related to Clinton, but whose case ended with no public report or allegations of wrongdoing.

Barr had said previously he would not hold back Durham’s findings because of concerns about any impact on the election, as investigators were not focused on political candidates.

From early on in the Trump administration, some GOP lawmakers have sought to investigate and highlight Obama-era unmasking requests, believing them to be inappropriate. The effort was initially pushed in part by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), though the House Intelligence Committee he chaired at the time also asked U.S. spy agencies to reveal the names of U.S. individuals or organizations contained in classified intelligence on Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.

In May, Republican Sens. Ron Johnson (Wis.), Charles E. Grassley (Iowa) and Rand Paul (Ky.) breathed new life into the effort, releasing a list of those who had made unmasking requests. The list included the names of more than three dozen former Obama administration officials. Among them were Biden, former White House chief of staff Denis McDonough, former FBI director James B. Comey, former CIA director John Brennan and former director of national intelligence James R. Clapper Jr.

Then-acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell had declassified and personally delivered the list to the Justice Department — his arrival captured by a pre-positioned Fox News camera — on the same day the Justice Department moved to drop criminal charges against Flynn.

Paul said at the time that “we sort of have the smoking gun because we now have the declassified document with Joe Biden’s name on it.” And Trump renewed his broader attacks on the investigation of possible coordination between Russia and his campaign, suggesting those involved should be jailed.

“I’m talking with 50-year sentences,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network.

Kupec soon appeared on Fox News and announced Bash’s inquiry. His work came on top of that of Durham and U.S. Attorney Jeff Jensen in St. Louis, who had been tapped specially to review the Flynn case and ultimately advised that the Justice Department should drop it.

The end of Bash’s case is similar to that of a review conducted by John Huber, the U.S. attorney in Utah, who was asked in November 2017 by Sessions to look into concerns raised by Trump and his allies in Congress that the FBI had not fully pursued cases of possible corruption at the Clinton Foundation and during Clinton’s time as secretary of state. The Post reported in January that the inquiry had effectively ended with no tangible results. In the months that followed, Trump bemoaned the state of the inquiry on Twitter, asserting that Huber “did absolutely NOTHING.”

“He was a garbage disposal unit for important documents & then, tap, tap, tap, just drag it along & run out of time,” Trump wrote.

‘Bad things are going to happen to him’: Trump threatens unmasked ‘Anonymous’ whistleblower at Florida rally
The Independent
John T. Bennett
,The Independent•October 29, 2020

Donald Trump appeared to threaten a former mid-level Department of Homeland Security official who two years ago penned an op-ed under the alias Anonymous slamming the president, saying bad things are going to happen to Miles Taylor.

There should be major criminal liability for some scum like this. ... He should be prosecuted. Are you listening to me back in Washington? He should be prosecuted, the president said in a message to his own Justice Department. "Along with the New York Times."

Bad things are going to happen to him, he added of Mr Taylor, who has been roundly criticized for panning his former boss while playing a role in the Trump administration's migrant child separation program.

Mr Trump's threat is questionable, however. He has fired others who crossed him, including some who testified in House Democrats impeachment hearings.

But Mr Taylor has left the government, leaving Mr Trump few options.

The whistleblower responded in real-time after contenting during a Wednesday night CNN interview he did not reveal himself for financial gain.

The state of open dissent in America: the President derides critics as traitors and treasonous threatens to prosecute & lock them up and ominously warns bad things will happen to them. Is this who we are? Mr Taylor tweeted.

The president also boasted about his coronavirus response, saying up to 2m people might have died in the United States. With cases and deaths rising quickly once again, that could still happen.

He again downplayed the severity of the virus: If I can get better anybody can get better, he said of his own bout with Covid-19 that landed him in a Washington, DC-area military facility for parts of four days.

On Anonymous, the president back in September 2018 vowed to find the author, who described themselves as a then-current official who was part of a "two-track" government, with Mr Trump doing is own thing while rank-and-file employees did another."The dilemma which (Trump) does not fully grasp is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations," Mr Taylor wrote under the alias. "I would know. I am one of them."

"But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic," the no-longer-anonymous author wrote in 2018. "That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr Trump's more misguided impulses until he is out of office."

On Wednesday night, a rally crowd in Goodyear, Arizona, cheered as Mr Trump called Mr Taylor a sleazebag.

US election: Biden event in Texas cancelled as 'armed' Trump supporters threaten campaign bus
The Independent
Matt Mathers
,The Independent•October 31, 2020

Joe Biden campaigners were forced to cancel an event in Texas on Friday as tensions flared in the key battleground state ahead of election day.

Local Democrats said they were forced to pull the plug on a gathering scheduled to take place in Pflugerville – a small city about 17 miles north of Austin – due to "security reasons".

It came as vice-presidential candidate, senator Kamala Harris, completed a whistle-stop three-city tour of the Lone Star state in a last-minute bid for votes.

Traditionally a Republican stronghold, the battle for Texas's 38 electoral college votes is likely to go down to the wire.

President Trump has a slight lead in the state, according to FiveThirtyEight's latest poll update. But that advantage is within the margin of error and a Biden win in Texas could be key to his path to the White House.

Sheryl Cole, a Democrat running for re-election to Austin Council, said officials cancelled an event set to feature the city's young party members and the Biden campaign.

"This is a first for me," said Ms Cole of the decision to scrap the event. "Unfortunately, pro-Trump protesters have escalated well beyond safe limits. Sorry to all who looked forward to this fun event," she added.

Congressman Lloyd Doggett, US representative candidate Wendy Davis and Austin mayor Steve Adler were among some of the speakers due to deliver remarks at the event.

A Biden/Harris campaign bus made a brief stop in downtown Austin and was heckled by around a dozen president Trump supporters. It was not immediately clear if senator Harris was travelling on the bus.

According to local Democrats, the same group of Trump supporters has been following the bus around the country in an attempt to disrupt events in key battleground states.

Rafael Anchía, a member of the Texas House of Representatives, said some of the agitators had been carrying weapons.

"Armed Trump trolls harassing Biden Bus on I-35, ramming volunteer vehicles & blocking traffic for 40 mins," he said, before accusing Mr Trump's son Eric of inciting "violence".

"At least the Trump hearse is appropriate given the 200K+ Americans who have died due to his incompetence," he added, referencing a vehicledriven by Mr Trump's supporters to antagonise the bus.

The Independent has contacted the Texas Democrat party and Texas state Highway Patrol for comment.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

Something seems odd there. Biden wasn't in Texas, according to this: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/30/election...final-days.html

Not sure about Harris.

But, a campaign bus would've had police escorts wouldn't it? I mean, if Biden or Harris had been aboard, I'm sure the gov't. and the state would've been escorting the bus. Or am I wrong?

If no one got out of the vehicles, how does anyone know they are armed? Waving a gun while driving is a crime. Any video of that?

Trying to run someone off the road is a crime also.

Harris was in Texas on Friday: https://www.texastribune.org/2020/10/30/kamala-harris-texas/

Though she was not on that bus -- it was a campaign bus that had other people planning to speak at an event in Austin, as well as other staff who were helping to administer that event.

Though she was not on that bus -- it was a campaign bus that had other people planning to speak at an event in Austin, as well as other staff who were helping to administer that event.

See. One weak attempt at a denial and nothing else. It's easy to predict they won't speak out against it. There's a substantial pattern.

The longer this goes on the crazier it will get. Just wait until Trump calls for them to stop counting the votes after the election. This is going to get very ugly. And as per usual, his supporters will either join in the nuttiness or stay silent about it.

And Trump was bragging about it at one of his Farewell Super Spreader Rallies endorsing such conduct.

Some Texas-style humor prompts Karen-style howls from Biden campaign

By Monica Showalter

Texas is a state that loves humor and can laugh at itself. Just look at the names of some of its cities -- you can feel it in names like Corsicana, Indianola, Texarkana...nobody else's state has names like those. And of course, there's the phrase "Texas-sized" which bigger Alaska can only envy. Nobody says 'Alaska-sized.' But everyone knows 'Texas-sized.' It's humor in the hyperbole.

So in comes the humor-challenged Joe Biden campaign from its basement to make a stop in Austin, Texas, with some of its team taking a big bus on one of the state's huge flat highways.

This is the most badass thing I've ever seen in my life. Go Texas. pic.twitter.com/dnr8Ns9qe0

And all Karen broke loose as the bus was spontaneously surrounded by cars bearing big pro-Trump flags and banners, putting on a show for the cameras. Nobody was violent, nobody was threatening. It obviously was an exuberant joie de vivre event to create something to post on social media.

Instead of just laughing it off and maybe saying 'my bus is bigger than your cars' or something, the Daily Beast, a reliable proxy for the Democrats, laid out the zero-humor Biden campaign's outraged response.

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign canceled a Friday event in Austin, Texas, after harassment from a pro-Trump contingent.

Texas has emerged as a battleground state in Tuesday’s presidential election, with polls showing the typically Republican stronghold now only marginally favoring President Donald Trump. The Biden campaign scheduled a Friday event in the state, in a bid to drum up last-minute support.

But when the Biden campaign bus drove to Austin, it was greeted by a blockade of pro-Trump demonstrators, leading to what one Texas House representative described as an escalation “well beyond safe limits.”

The cancelation comes amid national anxiety about voter intimidation, a tactic the Trump campaign has implicitly endorsed.

Historian Dr. Eric Cervini was driving to help with the Biden campaign stop when he filmed a line of pickup trucks along the highway, many of them flying Trump flags. The drivers were “waiting to ambush the Biden/Harris campaign bus as it traveled from San Antonio to Austin,” Cervini tweeted.

“These Trump supporters, many of whom were armed, surrounded the bus on the interstate and attempted to drive it off the road,” he alleged. “They outnumbered police 50-1, and they ended up hitting a staffer’s car.”

Look at at whining, hectoring outrage in those choices of words: Harassment. Blockade. "Well beyond safe limits." Voter intimidation. Ambush. And worst of all: "Armed."

The hysteria mounted:

This is a traffic violation and attempted homicide. Why hasn’t anyone been arrested? pic.twitter.com/QnfF4vXMQn

There was also this from Biden's allies in the establishment press:

One of them even called 911, suddenly taking a shine to the cops they otherwise want to defund.

The hypocrisy runs thick, to start. This, after all, is the party whose candidate is endorsed by Antifa. The party of looting, rioting, and burning, the party of CHOP, the party of restaurant disruptions, the party of shooting into Trump processions, as happened in Sherman Oaks. "Get in their faces," as Rep. Maxine Waters put it, calling for mobbings of Republicans in public places.

Now we see the whimper of the punched bully, the acts and language of the Karen, crying victim and asking to speak to the management. (And apologies to all the nice people named 'Karen,' as a 'Monica,' I know.)

And cripes, it was so bad, so traumatic, they actualy cancelled an event in a state they claim is important to them? No courage there. Cancelled, even though none of the cars were going to be allowed into the vaunted Biden rally?

What it sounds like is the Bidenites were looking for an excuse to play victim. One of them calculated that there was more public relations value in claiming that a non-violent funny stunt with Trump flags fluttering around a big Biden bus like Texas swallowtails was 'dangerous' to them than holding the actual rally, which by all counts would attract only a few dozen. Much better for the Bidenites to get the national media to report on the "ambush" and play the victim and establish another phony "narrative" about the dangers of Trump supporters, than to do the actual work of campaigning.

It's baloney, and they've beclowned themselves, showing themselves instead to be the campaign of crybabies. Whenever you campaign in a state that's opposite of your campaign color, it's pretty normal to get protests. Trump got them when he held an event at Trump Tower and Bill de Blasio painted anti-Trump slogans outside it so he could see it. Now it's Biden's turn, and all we see is that he can dish it out but still can't take it.

You obviously didn't watch the video of the guy ramming another vehicle with his truck. People like you will believe anything and make excuses for what was obviously illegal behavior. But we've learned to expect that.

A bunch of rednecks in pick-ups surrounding cars and ramming into them is a joke.
People walking down the street yelling in protest is terrorism. Got it.

Well it was a right wind blog which of course fish considers news. That and yet the continuation of the lie that Biden calls for the defunding of the police.
