Peens view is what happens when you listen to other white people but never listen to black people. It's what happens when some white people can't see that a lot of Democratic policies are a hand up and not a hand out. It's sad really.

I agree with you. While he's right that some would rather continue through life on the path of willful ignorance, some of us realize we still have more to learn. Clem's posts are a very useful tool for some of us to do so.

On the one hand I enjoy your eloquent and thoughtful posts that totally shed unique perspectives on issues. I wish more would take them to heart and learn rather than insisting that as White Middle Aged Men they know all the answers without ever having walked a day in someone of color's shoes ....
On the other I can't get the one post you wrote out of my head - I can't remember it exactly right, but you expressed frustration at having explained so many times, over and over during the years, your perspective on some of these racial issues and how continually posters here choose not remember or acknowledge or accept ... and lets face it, we're a small collective so this is probably either posters showing us who they are or choosing to be willfully ignorant.
So, thanks for the post. I think your posts are impactful, probably more than you realize.
Oh Crap, there goes the Neighborhood,, Clems head will never fit through the door again...LOL

Why did he wait until now,, Why didn't he do this 4 years ago?
Not for nothing, but why are they now just talking about releasing Clintons Emails?
He has been working on the health care plan and umm democrats!
Ok, that begs another question.. Remember when Trump said he'd have a better heathcare plan than the ACA and he'd have it his first day in office? It's been close to 4 years and we are still hearing the same empty promises.
I'm all for an improved heath care plan... But I'd like to see it in action rather than hear about it coming out of Trumps mouth.
So, the question, where are the plan details? Do they exist?

The federal government will send a record $46 billion to farmers this year, mostly in the South and Midwest, and the payments have "accelerated in recent weeks as the president looks to help his core supporters who have been hit hard by the double whammy of his combative trade practices and the coronavirus pandemic," The New York Times reports. "The breadth of the payments means that government support will account for about 40 percent of total farm income this year. If not for those subsidies, U.S. farm income would be poised to decline in 2020."
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
What's wrong with looking out for our food supply and for farmers? Somehow everybody deserves PPP loans, airline bailouts, stimulus checks, but when the government helps secure the food supply for the country and look out for family owned farm businesses, they are crossing a line?
calm your triggered ass down. im simply implying that if we can cut the check for them, and literally pay them to NOT grow certain crops, if we have the money to bail out all these corporations that doesn't include all the money the fed dumped into the markets, then we have the money to cut the check and address the original sin in this country.
im getting sick of the government finding excuses to not address that, yet finds ways to pull money out of their asses to pay everybody else.

I'm not upset at all. I have no idea where you got that from. I'm more troubled by the fringe of both sides.
Now I understand that "politicians are politicians". Is that really the actual issue here? Or is the issue when "politicians" start resorting to race baiting, telling other politicians to "go back to where you came from" and turn "being a politician" into divisive hate speech.
I think you're a fairly rational person from our limited interactions on this board. As such I'm pretty sure you're fully aware of typical political rhetoric and what we're seeing now. At least I would hope so.

Sorry, I grew up on a small farm and in a farming community. There weren't any rich people and nobody was ever getting anywhere close to 40% of their income from the government like the article says.
By the way, most people think that these subsidies are there to benefit farmers and that is historically not the reason. The government needs to maintain the farming industry just in order to mitigate the risks of famine and ensure that food remains affordable. This primarily benefits people in the suburbs and cities.
