One could also argue that He was a conservative, as He came to fulfill God's law, and not the laws added by man, and their interpretation.

The 2008 stimulus package was enacted in February 2008, long before the primaries, let alone the general election.

The economy tanked in August-October 2008, just before the election. There was the bit of drama when McCain left the campaign trail to focus on the bank bailout.

The bank bailout was drawn up by (and belongs to) Bush, but endorsed by (and I believe partially executed by) Obama.

Yeah, I remember Obama asked Bush to save half the bailout for his administration.
