Dems need a new voice. The problem is that I don’t want it to be anyone aligned with the squad.
Nancy brings in the cash, and that *ahem* counts a lot in leadership votes. She understands leadership, and power, and the exercise of both. She keeps her side in line, often stringently so. I doubt she goes anywhere anytime soon. (as much as I wish she would)

I assume Breitbart or something will complain about the election for the next 4 years. But if it was 270-268, then the electoral college would be a legit worry.
and yet, this doesn't feel like a victory...for either side.
A victory for me. I don’t like Trump and he is gone. I’m a conservative to moderate so the Republicans picking up a few seats and not losing the Senate is a good thing. If Biden governs like the moderate he has been most of his career than some things will get done.
What gives you any confidence he'll govern like a moderate based on his track record or speeches at the DNC?
Because politicians lie to get elected. Joe is a politician. He might move to the left but for at least the first two years he will have to work with Mitch which won’t be easy.
yes, they helped a whole bunch of people vote for trump.
you should probably do some research. latinos in southwest america are not the same as latinos in southeast america.
lots of cuban and venezuelan heritage in southern florida. it was record turnout for both candidates.

You are living in an alternate reality, Rocket. You have always been out of of touch with what is actually happening in the country. The people you mention are why the Democrats do so poorly in elections, even when they are predicting great victories. It’s why you keep losing. If the Democrats stay with your strategy, look for more Donald Trumps in our future.

Dude, the left started bitching months before the last election, and they still haven't quit. It's okay for 1 side to do?
Agreed. I used to enjoy the discussion. It stopped being productive or in any way enjoyable some time ago. I’ll join in anytime where it seems to be that again. I always have hope!
Dude, the left started bitching months before the last election, and they still haven't quit. It's okay for 1 side to do?
About recounts and faithless electors?
Did I say that? No? Oh, okay.
Nah, my comment was about the left literally saying shortly before, and immediately after the last election that they would attempt to impeach trump. And they continued from there. You know it. Every week a new 'scandal'.
Biden and his supporters should be well read on attacking a president, especially when slurring words is a trade mark. 47-48 years in office and.........what? Nothing.
Part of me is glad he seemingly won, cause it will shut up a lot of people on here. But, by the same token, it will awaken some on here also. If the left can't take what they dished for over 4 years, they are two faced ........(in my best biden voice) eh, I've said too much.

Do you remember the 8 years of Obama. You act like this a "left" only thing. Both sides cry when they aren't in power.
I am only responsible for me. Go back to the obama years. I was, literally, the first person to call out president tom from Iran for calling out Obama as being the 'house'....
My exact comment was "Screw tom, Obama is MY president."
Lol I guess revenge really is a dish best served cold.
Even you trump supporters gotta admit: trump is his own worst enemy.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
As a moderate conservative who disliked Trump, I am very happy with the election results.
The expected "Blue Wave" barely made a splash in the Senate, where it looks like Republicans will remain in control. And the House was a mess for the Democrats, where they actually lost seats. All this with historic voter turnout.
Trump lost, but it took a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic to happen in an election year for Biden to win. If Covid doesn't happen, does anyone think Trump doesn't win again? Just think about that...we were that close to an epic disaster for Democrats.
Not only that, but Hispanics, the fastest growing population group in the US, have pretty much stated that they aren't going to go along with the far left socialist agenda. Especially those in the Southeast and Texas.
Biden is going to really struggle to get anything substantial done, especially in the first 2 years. And I just have a hard time seeing him getting re-elected in 2024.
And I just have a hard time seeing him getting re-elected in 2024.
I agree. How many votes for Biden were just for getting Trump out of office? He won't have those in 2024.
Biden winning and Republicans keeping the senate was probably the best case scenario. Now if only both sides can stop the partisan crap and learn how to reach across the aisle again.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
Now if only both sides can stop the partisan crap and learn how to reach across the aisle again.
When's the last time that happened? A couple of decades ago? More?

Im not wishing harm on Biden. But he is so old and senile I dont feel he will be around in 2024. I most feel he is an interim puppet.
His speech today was excellent. And what the country needed. But someone else wrote it, and it was on a teleprompter.
Does it matter? I dont know.
I feel our country deserves something better than both candidates.
I feel our country deserves something better than both candidates.
One thing for sure, our country deserves something better than Kamala Harris if she is thrust into the presidency.
She supports open borders She supports reparations She supports executive action on gun control/confiscation She supports the green new deal She supports free healthcare for all...illegals... all far left ideals. She dropped out of her presidential run for lack of support, and here she is a heart beat away.
With that being said I did like his speech he gave today. However, just because you make good speeches, that isn't enough if you're policies are garbage.
Policies like separating young children from their parents and putting them in cages until sick or dead?

Read this opinion piece by a Democrat journalist and ask yourself if it is doing anything of value to bridge the canyon in the country. He shames anyone who voted for Trump (nearly 50% of the country) as bigots, racists and homophobes. He refers to Trump supporters as the "worst angles" in the country.
Well played Mr. Stern. Continuing to see the seeds of division makes me weep for your soul.
My wife and I were talking about this last night (the how's and other particulars about the election, and what it means).
Biden won, and many will simply focus on that, but Trump did far better than many (on the left and in the middle) would have thought. He straight put a beatdown on Biden in certain areas. That, coupled with minimal gains in the Senate and losing ground in the House SHOULD be a wake up call to Democrats... but it won't. What this election showed is that while folks were fed up with Trump, there still exists the underlying issues/feeling that took Trump to the WH. Maybe not in 4 years, but you could definitely see Trump2.0 in 8. If 2016 wasn't the wakeup call they needed....
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
Trump better watch out, cause the ghost of john lewis in GA might have something to say to him as well.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I think the Dems are as out-of-touch with their constituents and potential voters as the Republicans are. The difference, I think, is that their constituents punish them more for being so out-of-touch. We've seen this more in some of the union and blue collar areas.
If they are serious about it, there are several things the Democrats need to do to hit the reset button, and I doubt they do most of them:
1. Reform the DNC. The DNC guided the 2016 primaries and it appears they did so again in 2020. I understand that is a short term goal of trying to put in an "electable" candidate, but long-term, it's going to tick off their constituents. They need to set aside their institutionalized goals and actually start developing policies that consider the wide spectrum of their constituents' beliefs.
2. Retire their current leadership. We've talked about this already, but Pelosi needs to go. She's only doing more harm than good. YTown brought up the point that she brings in money, which is priority number one, but they just have to figure out a way to move on. She's 80. Biden is 78. They can't look at that and not think it's a problem. Find new leadership blood.
3. Allow plurality on certain issues. Different states have different priorities. A lot of the Democratic constituents in these states are hard left on economic areas, but may be more socially conservative. Basically, the opposite of libertarians. Libertarians basically fall in line with Republicans, and Republicans put forth more effort to pander to Libertarian constituents. I think the Dems need to be open to more candidates that might espouse the counter-Libertarian beliefs.
JMHO.

Deal with it.
I'm not sure what I am supposed to "deal with" but ok.
Both sides are stupid. Both dish it out and then cry when it happens to them. That's the way it works. But most people only call out the opposing side. I'm glad you called out both, but I honestly don't remember much posted here from 4+ years ago.
LOL.trump. The GOP answer to stacking the Supreme Court. Gopr’s should be happy as snot. Got your cake and can eat it. And you won’t have trump to embarrass the party now, and can blame covid and the poor economy on Biden.
Job well done GOP.

Good lord, the GOP is gonna be so ticked at trump if he loses GA.
