I'm in England on family business. It's been interesting to hear the news and the process here rather than back in the USA. Less hysteria and more facts generally. Interesting that every single news source will state what Trump says/tweets/claims - and simply add after the summary, that Trump has offered no proof for any of his claims. It's said mater of factly - and like everyone understands Trump is acting like a petulant and irrational child. They have Republican supporters who try to echo that there the country and election result needs to be protected from fraud.... some do a better spin job than others ... but it comes down to reporters echoing "But there is no proof" or "what is your proof". And they do an excellent job explaining the massive difference in votes cast for Biden in mail in count vs in person count. AND explaining how different States count their mail in ballots AND why/which bodies prevented ballots being touched before election night....
Lot's of thoughts. Probably upper most in my mind is that 70 million people still voted for Trump. That's important. Hugely important. I thought the massive voter turnout was going to be a reflection of a huge anti-Trump sentiment by the country. I was wrong and Biden and the MSM and all of us should take note of that. Unlike Trump and many Trump supporters - I think it's important to build towards the center and understand why 70 Million voted that way. Trump ignored and mocked and alienated the 50% of the votes that were cast for Hilary ... Biden must not. Yes - there are a bunch of xenophobic haters who support Trump no matter what, and you have the Evangelicals and Christian far right who "sold their souls" to Trump (I say that because if there has ever been a more flawed President in the eyes of God I'd like to hear it) .... but there are millions and millions of everyday people who voted for Trump regardless of all his unpleasant and embarrassing behavior. Biden and the "Left" need to engage and compromise with those people to move the country forward and to a better place. The liberals on the Far Left need to understand that too. As popular as Bernie was for some - I feel certain he would have lost to Trump. That is not what MOST Americans want.
4 years ago when Hilary lost, I had no sympathy for her. I didn't care that she won the popular vote - because that isn't how the election result is determined. I said I wished Trump luck and hope he surprised me as the POTUS. Obviously that didn't happen and I've criticized him heavily because I think he's been the worst POTUS in history. But I accepted the election and focused on what Trump did or said while in office. . . Yes there were LOTS of morons that cried and railed against Trump and didn't want to accept the result. Those people were idiots - and if posters here want to try to justify their reaction to Biden by echoing the worst of the morons from the last election - it says as much about you as it did them. Let's be real - Every Trump supporter mocked and laughed at those sorry folks that couldn't accept Hilary lost, so if that's you now and you think you are justified because of those idiots then .... maybe you need a moment to collect yourself and think about it?
Last point - I heard here from a newspaper rag that Trump would resign, Pence would take over and as POTUS Pence would pardon Trump and prevent any and all future legal action(s) taken against Trump. I dismissed this notion as British Tabloid-Mania. . . but I heard a story echoed from friends overnight in the USA that Trump would "resign in protest" .... pay attention, if this pardon happened that would be such a damning epitaph for Trump and a stain on the USA that would never be removed.

Spoken like a true Browns fan. You got a whittle moral victory. Congrats. LOL. I saw millions of American’s dancing in the streets and they weren’t all Democrats or liberals. I saw Americans.

And like the trash Trump supporters y’all are, can’t even own it and walk it back. Y’all get called out for insulting women, then try and double down and point the finger.
I am so happy I don’t think and act like a conservative male.

I hope Congress can find middle ground and actually get things accomplished.

So... you did mean it as a knock?
No I didn't. It is a common expression.
I didn't say people get smarter as they age, though we both know there is some truth in that, not even referencing any political views. I know you are smarter now compared to when you were 13.

I don't like salmon. What then? Just busting your chops in fun.
As for middle ground, good luck with that. I didn't see much seeking the last few years.
Now all of a sudden that is going to change? Right.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
First, I voted for Trump... can't stand his behavior but more of his policies were in alignment with mine than Bidens (at least some of the bigger ones). Truly, I typically agree with policies on both sides of the isle, but Biden's tax plan really makes me nervous.
Biden clearly won... some of the Trump worship and conspiracy crap that I've seen in my area is ridiculous
My hope is that with Biden's relationships within the Senate will allow both sides to start working together again... frankly, i feel a hell of a lot better with the lack of blue wave... we at least get a president who appears more presidential (though his mental gaffes are cause of concern) but hopefully some of his extreme changes will not be able to go forward because of a bipartisan government
Kamala's policy scares me more... I really don't like her policy; however, I'm thrilled that we have a woman of color as a VP. I appreciate the inspiration that she will be for millions of girls and young ladies in America. I know some will talk about how she rose to power but frankly you want to look in any of our closets and you'll find skeletons. I'm happy that my 6 year old niece saw that we are going to have a woman VP and she was running around the house squealing because 'she's a girl VP'....
Though the candidate I voted for lost... I'm happy there wasn't a 'blue wave' and am hopeful we can heal... and hopeful that we can move some of our policy back to the middle instead of trying to be extreme one way or other...
I believe in the empowerment of the middle class. They are the engine of the economy.
To accomplish that goal. The middle class needs support for affordable healthcare. They also need to feel that their children have an equal chance at education. That education is not only for parents and their kids that can afford to send kids to college. Student debt for poor people is a heavy anchor.
I also believe strongly that this generation has a obligation to the next generation to leave a better environment behind. That National Parks are for the people. That clean air and water is the responsibility of government. Flint Michigan should never happen.
My hope under Biden is for Congress to actually work.
Find common ground. Believe in compromise and get things accomplished that help the country. Not just partisan agendas.
So your argument is that it can't be insulting because it is a common expression?
Man, you are really old and out of touch...
OH well....best we part ways for now Luke. I understand old and out of touch is a fairly common expression as well. The difference is I qualified my comment.
I wish the new President elect well, though I see rough seas on the horizon.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
I just saw the SNL opening. It was pretty lame, they could have done so much more with this story line. The only part that made me laugh was when they showed the "red wave" state map and McEneny whispered "that's the COVID map".

How a Biden presidency could change your tax bill Fox Business Megan Henney ,Fox Business•November 7, 2020 0:07 3:34
Biden’s tax plan would raise rates for Americans who make more than $400K
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's projected victory in the November election could significantly change tax bills for a slew of Americans.
Fox News projected on Saturday that, four days after the election, Biden had defeated incumbent President Trump following victories in the key battleground states of Nevada and Pennsylvania.
"America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country," Biden tweeted. "The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."
The former vice president has unveiled a multitrillion-dollar agenda that would be funded in large part by higher taxes on wealthy U.S. households – which he describes as anyone earning more than $400,000 annually – and corporations. That includes higher income tax rates, an expansion of the payroll tax for Social Security, new tax credits and fewer deductions.
“I will raise taxes for anybody making over $400,000,” Biden said during a recent interview with ABC's David Muir. “Let me tell you why I'm going to do it. It’s about time they start paying a fair share of the economic responsibility we have. The very wealthy should pay a fair share – corporations should pay a fair share.”
Still, the Constitution gives Congress the power to set tax policy, so Biden's economic agenda may hinge on whether Democrats control both chambers on Congress. While they appear poised to maintain a slim majority in the House, control of the Senate hinges on Georgia, where the state's close election has pushed both races to a Jan. 5 runoff.
BIDEN PLEDGES TO ROLL BACK TRUMP'S TAX CUTS: 'A LOT OF YOU MAY NOT LIKE THAT'
Almost 80% of the tax increases backed by Biden would land on the top 1% of earners in the U.S., according to a projection this week from the Penn Wharton Budget Model, a nonpartisan group at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Biden would roll back President Trump's 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and raise the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21%, restore the top individual tax rate to 39.6% from 37%, tax capital gains as ordinary income, cap deductions for high earners, expand the Earned Income Tax Credit for workers over the age of 65 and impose the Social Security payroll tax on wages above $400,000.
Here's a closer look at some of Biden's specific plans for individual tax changes:
Hike taxes on individuals by repealing parts of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
The tax overhaul that Republicans passed nearly four years ago temporarily lowered the top income bracket to 37%. (Under current law, the lower 37% rate is already slated to return to 39.6% in 2026).
BIDEN PLEDGES TO HIKE TAXES ON AMERICANS EARNING MORE THAN $400K
Biden has pledged to revert that top rate to 39.6% for those earning more than $400,000 annually. That would result in an average tax increase of nearly $300,000 for households in the top 1% of the country, compared with a $260 per year increase for those in the middle, according to the Tax Policy Center.
Create a Social Security "donut hole"
Under existing law, employees and employers split a 12.4% payroll tax on wages below an annual maximum (in 2020, it's $137,700). The levy, which shows up on paystubs as a FICA tax, is used to fund Social Security.
TRUMP CLAIMS BIDEN WIN WILL CAUSE DEPRESSION, 'BIGGEST HEADWIND' TO ECONOMY
But Biden has pledged to subject wages above $400,000 to the 12.4% payroll tax, creating a so-called "donut hole" for earnings between $137,700 and $400,000, which would be exempt.
Raise taxes on capital gains and dividends for higher earners
For individuals and couples earning more than $1 million, capital gains and dividends would be taxed as ordinary income at a rate of 39.6%.
SOME RETIREES COULD SEE 5% SOCIAL SECURITY RAISE WITH BIDEN AS PRESIDENT
Long-term capital gains are currently taxed at a top rate of 20%.
Increase levies on inherited assets
Biden's plan scraps the so-called step-up in cost basis on inherited assets.
Under current law, when heirs inherit an asset that has appreciated in value, they get a "step-up" in basis, meaning they receive the holding at its current market value. Beneficiaries can sell those assets and pay capital gains based only on the time they receive the asset and the time they sold it, allowing them to minimize the tax bite.
But Biden has suggested applying capital gains taxes based on the original value of an asset.
And Biden won, and guess what the left is still doing? Ripping on Trump and anyone that voted for him. They aren't celebrating the victory (most, anyway) as much as they are celebrating the loss.
Oh well.
The problem with Trump is that he reaped the harvest that he sowed. He sowed anger and division. Us versus Them. Anger against our fellow Americans.
I look forward to politics being boring again, as his Presidency was embarrassing.

And trump has been doing that for 4 years. Change does not miraculously occur once the election is over, it takes time. Plus, trump has yet to concede the election, still spewing discord, as is his way.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

I agree, it wasn't all that..
but to be fair, they rehearse all week for this show, and my guess is that after Biden was projected as the winner, they have to switch it up. Or, I could be totally wrong LOL

Trump Books Four Seasons Total Landscaping Instead Of Luxury Hotel For Press Conference
Julie Scagell Sun, November 8, 2020, 6:52 AM EST·5 min read
The Trump team held a press conference in a parking lot outside Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philadelphia On Saturday November 7, Joe Biden won the 2020 U.S. Presidential election. As people celebrated in the streets across the country, Trump and his legal team prepared for a news conference to talk about voter fraud (despite the fact there’s no evidence to support it) and their plans to file additional law suits. Instead of the presser being at the Four Seasons Hotel Philaelphia, where Trump initially tweeted it would be held, it was actually held at Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a landscaping company situated under the interstate, next to an adult bookstore, and across from a crematorium. I mean, the jokes just write themselves.
“Lawyers News Conference Four Seasons, Philadelphia. 11:00 a.m.,” President Trump tweeted Saturday morning, before issuing a second tweet that it was not at the luxury downtown hotel but rather outside a business called Four Seasons Total Landscaping. Slate reports that Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, was standing by when confused journalists arrived at the site and quickly speculated that someone in the Trump campaign made an error when booking the location.
In the parking lot, a podium was set up in front of a closed garage door with a Trump campaign poster. Across the street, oh so poetically, a crematorium sat. Fantasy Island Adult Bookstore was located right next door. During the news conference, Giuliani insisted that Trump was not going to concede the election and again claimed, without evidence, that ballots had been tampered with in the state of Pennsylvania.
So apparently trump is planning on having a rally.
To say what, exactly?

LMAO bro, these GOPers are trying to wish the election results out of existence... They are calling for an exodus from Facebook to some BS friendly social media that won't ban them for lies and misinformation or the inevitable threats of violence.
They are rallying around "Stop the Steal"... these are the same losers that smugly said, "elections have consequences" four years ago when Trump also lost the popular vote...
Unhinged right wingers are nothing new, but this gun toting threat making militant right wing stuff is getting old and dangerous. Without a dirty DOJ, I look for them to cross the line and for there to be a violent reckoning before this attitude that we can show up brandishing guns and get our way crap goes away...
