Jake Luton, a rookie 6th round pick who made his first start for the Jax last week, threw for over 300 yards against Houston last week. Their secondary is horrendous and we should be able to exploit it especially since they will be gearing up to stop our running game.

It's supposed to rain with 50mph wind gusts.

I thought I saw a pretty crowded LoS during the 2nd Cinci game.

yeah, that looks like Swiss cheese secondaries won’t be as big of an issue then. Keeping Watson in the pocket is the key to a a win IMO
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I guess we interpret weather forecasts differently. The conditions are not good, but in my opinion they are not all that bad. Of course, as we all know, the weather can change in a blink of an eye along the lake front.
I will say this. I think it's wishful thinking to believe those weather conditions will stop Watson from shredding us.

Yeah, I mean he’s so dangerous. I’ve never played football so maybe I’m wrong, but I always assumed high wind was the #1 detractor for the passing game ... and maybe that changes too, like you said

Is it just high wind, or is it gusting wind? In between mentions of groppel, they were making good points about the wind, and how it would swirl. Not only was it hard enough to kick in high winds, but the wind coming into the stadium would be inconsistent. Then cut to mentions of the 'Dawson Flag'.

If the wind is similar to what it was during the Las Vegas game, I hope that we can somehow manipulate things so that we don't have to go in the direction where the wind wreaked havoc last game. We had to deal w/the bad end during the LV game in the 4th quarter. We saw how the two kicks were moved from right to left and I also noticed that a few of the drops we had were when we were going in the direction where the wind moved balls from right to left.
I know most teams defer so they can get the ball to start the third quarter. Do we have to hope Houston wins the toss or can we do something to ensure we don't have to deal w/the wind in the 4th quarter?

It's our yard. We should be using the weather to our advantage, not fighting it like the other team. I guess that's what you get when most of the coaches/team haven't been here long enough to learn exactly how the weather affects play in the stadium. I'd bet a few conversations about the weather with folks like Bernie, JT and Phil Dawson would reap rewards.

Seeing our offense so green/blue is good ... but it sucks seeing our defense (especially the depth) so bad

Did I read that right? Is Hilliard our QB3? You did not read it right. He's under the third team column and it has "RB" next to his name.

He's clearly listed as QB3 in the chart above. *Not saying he would be under center if disaster strikes just reading the chart.

It doesn't matter at all but he's just listed there because there is not another slot for running backs. And even if he was, which he isn't, it wouldn't matter because this is just a chart put together by ChadP71 Running Dirty. During the broadcast of the Steeler game the announcers said that Jarvis Landry is our emergency third QB.

I don't think Hilliard has ever played QB at any level. He's 0-1 with an INT in the NFL, on a Freddie Kitchens gadget-play-gone-wrong.

Obviously passing the ball is going to rough with gusting winds like that. You just don't know when gusts come. Plus the winds swirl there to boot.
Probably need to be conservative. Protect the ball. Throwing in gusting winds like that is begging for turnovers.
We have Teller and Chubb back so run the ball. Maybe short field throws and screens. Anything with much air will be difficult.
We should do to them like the Raiders did to us.

Nothing beats experience and practice for playing in those conditions. Let's not forget that it was several years into his tenure here at CLE before Phil Dawson placed his 'cheat flag.' No substitute for hard-earned knowledge & wisdom. They'll figure it out.

Tomorrows pretty easy to figure out. Run the ball and quick short passes. Oh and stop them from running it.

We have reached the point where folks are making excuses for a certain someone even before games are played. But yeah, let's draft a LBer w/our first pick. LOL

I can’t agree with your last post. People pointing out 50 mph wind gusts isn’t making excuses. It’s pointing out facts. Tomorrow is going to be another tough day on the QBs. Mayfield did fine last week and I expect him to fine again tomorrow.

No problem. I will stop making the thread. Sick of my threads being hijacked. The weather might be a factor and needs to be mentioned, but it isn't the only factor. Anyone who follows bone's posts knows exactly what he is doing and yet....you call me out and ignore his crap.

Something might figure in as well. Knowing is never enough. Acting on what you know is vital. Dawson's action was brilliant and reasoned.

Dawson's action was brilliant and reasoned. It really was, Bard. Thanks for making that point. When I discovered this li'l tidbit, it just made me smile. At a stadium like ours, the 12th man can be the Dawg Pound, but it can also be the team's knowledge of its own home turf. For years, PIT has taken advantage of its awful turf. DEN has taken advantage of its altitude above Sea Level. Dawson's "cheat flag" should have never become public knowledge... but stuff like this never stays quiet forever. ______________ I don't know about You, but for me- this stuff simply adds to the drama of The Story. Can't deny it- I LOVE stuff like this...

I will add I don't make excuses if you follow my threads.
All I have said in regards to Mayfield is I will wait to see how he plays this season.
I will not post on a vers thread because he is all knowing and I am a hijacker. Pound salt big shot.

I did not say weather can't be a factor, but there are other things to talk about. I don't think either team is going to run it on every single play. Being effective in the passing game is not out of the question.
Also, if is all about the running game like you say on every single post, then we should destroy them. We have an excellent OL and their OL stinks. Both of our two backs are far superior to Duke.
It should be no contest. LOL
There is more to the game than just the weather.
