How complicated is the #Jaguars’ COVID situation? With the entire defensive staff isolated, Doug Marrone says he and assistant STC Mike Mallory will run the defense in practice. DC Todd Wash is one of three coaches who are out Sunday, so Joe Danna will make the calls vs. #Browns.

Good grief, I didn't know Glennon is 6'7". He must be the greatest QB in the universe!

Glennon is one of those fringe starter-caliber QBs. He's shown just enough game for the league to give him multiple shots at starter spots. He's not good, but he's just good enough to give a depleted defense with minimal time to prepare for him some trouble.

I'll be totally honest. I'm very nervous about this game. No Ward. No Garrett. Glennon will never be a pro bowler, but I wouldn't call him a dud. He's been around long enough and started for enough teams that he can get the job done.

Last week, I feel like the DL felt the pressure to perform and hopefully doesn't rest on the laurels of their performance against the Eagles.

We also have a potential trap in this game with our upcoming schedule.

Edit - didn't Glennon beat out Russell Wilson at NC State?

We've been making backup QBs look like Peyton Manning since 1999; while this year seems to be a good year to step up and put a halt to that trend, I need to see it to believe it.

Total Trap Game.

How many times has a backup come in and lit up up? We all know it happens alot and we all also know that performance usually doesnt carry over to many more games. However since we are his first start of the year i am very worried

Glennon stinks of course, but it doesn’t mean we can’t lay an egg haha

We need our number one overall pick QB to put the team on his shoulders and lead us to a win, if needed.

What is Glennons' lifetime record against the Browns?

If Baker can't play well against this team then it will be time to start panicking. They had the 32nd ranked pass defense and now they lost their best pass rusher and potentially four other defensive starters and their entire defensive coaching staff for a portion of the week.

What makes you think we won't just run it down their throats. 24th in the league in run defense. Missing defensive starters.

I believe it will be the Chubb/Hunt show, again, and it should be. Baker should not have to put the team on his shoulders.

We're going to have to pass eventually. This game should be used to get our passing game up to speed after being on ice for a month due to the weather.

I wouldn't call Glennon a fringe starter in the NFL lol.

He is a career backup. He is 6-16 as a starter.

The challenging thing with him is that we won't have any recent tape on him to scheme for.

I think he will go something like 17-33 for 230 yards and 1 TD and 1 TD.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Stefanski won't care about anything other than simply running as balanced of an attack as he needs to in order to get the job done.

Our identity and our bread & butter is the run game, so I fully expect that to be a major factor, but I also expect to see a return to the vertical game we were seeing before the weather games where we take big shots downfield on 2nd & short. I think we will see a return to getting Hooper involved, and Landry may have himself a good day.

Jax is still 6th in sacks allowed.

If Vernon and company can show up like they did against Philly.. It might do enough for glennon to lay a dud.

They're also like 26th in run defense? It might be prime chance to hold time of possession.

We just need to get the lead and sustain drives, then the defense can just tee off on them once they're playing catch-up and going to the air all the time.

The Jaguars have 4 out of 5, the article wasn't real clear, defenders, 1 LB and 3 out of 4 Db's out, depening on when you start counting from.
Browns can take advantage of this.

I'd be more worried if Glennon were a quick, mobile guy. I'd also be more worried if I could name a single starter on their defense. (A bit hyperbole as I think Myles Jack might still be there) No Josh Allen or Ngakoue at DE, Calais Campbell went to the Ravens, Their best corner and a safety just went on IR. I think they've lost some receivers, and they're now on their 3rd QB who's basically a taller Brandon Weeden.

Glennon started over Wilson because Wilson wanted to play baseball and football, and his coach erroneously questioned his commitment (at least that's my simplified recollection of it).

We could definitely still find a way to blow the game, but our rushing attack should be able to roll and I think we can hold them (/they can be discombobulated enough) to settle for FGs instead of TDs.

As far as the trap game, I think Stefanski has a good approach to avoid that. He's already had some recent quotes about not being good enough to overlook anybody.

Nervousness still makes sense, though. Epic collapses have plagued us.

Not sure if he is starting, but a guy I work with son Davon Hamilton (52) plays DT for them. He got his first sack two weeks, and it was on Aaron Rodgers. Kinda cool talking to his dad about NFL stuff.

I'm in love with this coaching staff

Quote:
Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt wanted to lighten the mood and deliver a message before his virtual meeting Wednesday with the offense.

The Browns were met with some more unfortunate news before the day's activities started. Top cornerback Denzel Ward was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and players were enduring another day of virtual meetings as a result of another player's positive COVID-19 test.

So Van Pelt held up a Stretch Amrstrong action figure and, well, stretched him around. The Browns needed to be flexible and adaptable to all obstacles, and he wanted to deliver that point in a unique way before another day of virtual work began.

Glennon is a very streaky QB...Hopefully we will see mostly the bad Streak. Shame Garrett is not playing hopefully the guys can go wild on their OL and provide pressure.

Let us play D to stay after them. I have yet to become a fan of prevent D. Playing to win seems more ambitious and quite different than playing not to lose.

If a player can make any NFL roster at any position; they have game.

They may be ordinary or even poor in comparison to NFL standards. However, if they are drawing a paycheck. They can play. Glennon has been good enough to stay in the league for quite some time.

We should be able to handle them but only if we play our game.

To lose it would seem we would have a part in beating ourselves.

This seems simplistic but we should simply outscore them. Even with injuries we have to much talent for the jags.

These Jags took two of their last three opponents to the wire; almost beating the Texans and the Packers. They should not be taken lightly.

This really is our best, and perhaps only, hope. We just need to come away with points EVERY time we get the ball, and then we have to hope our D gets a stop or two, or perhaps even a turnover. It's that simple.
