Don't like tight spaces. I hated having an MRI

Ditto. I found that out the hard way getting an MRI. I had to close my eyes and pretend I was somewhere in the open. I started to panic at first, but calmed down later. They scanned me for 30 minutes (I thought I had a mini stroke. Thank God, there were no signs of any damage). The nurse said many people don't like being cramped up when getting one. It felt like I was buried alive.

How is that nobody has put up "afraid of bridges" or water yet? ...

My mom has always been very afraid of bridges. She gets through it, but hates it and gets shook up a little.

I have a similar fear to Michelle's...tornados. But, mine's a little different. My fear is sleeping during a tornado warning. When I was little (probably 6 or so), I was sleeping one night, during a storm. I was woken up at about 2:30 AM to the sound of sirens. I looked out the window and saw lights flashing across the street.

Turns out, while I was sleeping, a tornado went through my neighborhood. Didn't really touchdown all the way, but knocked over some big trees and put one tree into a house (the reason for the lights and sirens).

Since then, whenever I try to sleep during a tornado warning, I have nightmares about sleeping through a tornado siren and dying in a tornado because of that. It's irrational, I know, but there it is.

I never got the whole "clown" phobia ... but I do know a couple of people with that one.

I don't get it either, but that's the thing about most phobias.....if you don't have the phobia, there's no way you can understand what a person who has the phobia experiences or is going through.

Quote:

Snakes and stuff I suppose I can understand ...... but most creatures will leave you alone if you leave them alone.

Most.....

My closest thing to a phobia:
My brother got ran over by a buffalo a few years ago on a farm that we hunt turkeys on. Cracked ribs, bruises, abrasions all over....I never did trust the SOBs every time we had to walk through one of the fields they were browsing on. You look into their eyes and they just LOOK like they want to kick your ass. I imagine it would be like looking into a shark's eyes according to Quint in "Jaws"

And....on the topic of "Jaws" I was scared for YEARS to go near a buoy while swimming after watching that movie, and I still get a tad skittish around them to this very day........is there a phobia for water buoys???

That is correct....

I try to steer clear of the things, and give them the right of way to a great extent.

However, if they are dead and cooked they make great burgers!

I have a pretty good case of claustraphobia. I'm not afraid of flying but I can't stand to think of getting on an airplane. I can't handle being in places I don't have any control of getting out of. If I was on a plane where they made you sit for hours without taking off, I'd scratch everyone's eyes out.

I had to go for an MRI a month ago of my lower back and then abdomen. It took 2 hours and I started wiggin out a little. I kept my eyes closed and had them put on 92.3 so it wasn't too bad but I felt weird cause I had no control of getting out that cramped space I will never know what it's like being in a coffin but I assume it's similar

Being broke. It freaks me out when I don't have money in my pocket. When you can't pay your own way etc.. And the older I get the less wild I am about heights.

I guess it's a form of claustrophia but I get freaked out if I have no transportation available... which is why I usually try to drive if I go somewhere with a group... Even if I'm home and we have one car in the shop and my wife is gone in the other... as soon as it hits me that I have no car, I immediatly feel the need to go somewhere, even if I don't have anyplace important to go... I get real ansy if I don't have my own transportation available...

I slept through a tornado too, when I was staying at my grandparents house... It woke me up about 2:30 in the morning, but as soon as I lifted my head up, I passed back out. The sound that woke me was a tree getting picked up and slammed into a neighbors roof. Very shocking sight to wake up too. Tornado passed right past the house, you could see where it touched down.

I could not imagine living in Tornado Alley. I guess being in the path of a Hurricane is frighting, but at least we have know when one's coming.

I'm sort of getting that just recently. About a year ago, this girl's dog jumped out from behind a car park on the side of the road, and I hit him. Fortunatly, the worst of his injuries was a broken leg, but I felt awful. Now I'm constantly worried about dogs or kids jumping out from behind parked cars on the side of the road. I'm also really worried when I back out of my driveway, because there are small kids in my neighborhood and I've heard "stories".

I hate to laugh .... but it was a rather funny incident from my youth .....

I was 16, and taking driver's ed. There was a girl in my group, and she kept worrying about hitting animals and birds and such. The instructor told her that it was damn near impossible to hit a bird, and not to worry about it.

She then proceeded to hit a bird, and splattered its little feathes everywhere.

She dropped the class the next day, and I really have to wonder if she drives today.

The good thing about hitting a cat is that you can make a few bucks selling it to a Chiniese resturant
